Mount Umunhum Trailhead

Some great views from here, but more importantly it's the trailhead for the 4-mile (8 Mike's rountrip) hike to the summit of Mt Umunhum. The hike is mostly shaded, with a moderate slope, and brings you to a summit with panoramic views and a giant concrete cube -- all that remains of a defunct Cold War vintage radar station from the early 1960's.

Note that the trailhead parking lot is relatively small for the number of people who use the trail, so arrive early if you plan to hike on a weekend.

Beautiful, well maintained and easy to follow hike for sunset 😍 We parked in the lot by peak, hiked down first and then back to the peak around sunset time since the park closes sometime after sunset.

Parking was only 1/4 occupied at 8am on a Saturday. Steady 1135 feet low effort uphill mostly in the shade. About 1.5 hours from the trail head to the top. About 7.7 mile round trip.

Easy hike and great view at the top. Took us total 3.5hrs to complete the 8miles hike going up and down. Trail is mostly shaded but it is open at the top.
