Columbia River Hotel, an Ascend Collection

My family and I rented the family suite it had plenty room for all of us the one bedroom had 2 twin beds. We had a living room with jacuzzi tub and a sofa/ bed couch. Was nice for us adults to have our own bedroom! Could use a second bathroom with all of us but it worked.
We had a little pato deck looking over to the pool. There is a restaurant bar there but we did not get anything from there kids wanted pizza hut which was delivered to our room. Room was clean floor could use a mopping.
All in all was comfortable stay We did not have breakfast there because McDonald's was very close by. I definitely stay again. Staff was nice checking in and housekeeping checked with us upon leaving if we were done. Could use an extra trash can with all the kiddos! We will be back!

I am in town from billings, montana for a family gathering. I am beyond impressed with everything in this establishment. Even though it's finishing a renovation the hotel is running smoothly. I work for a hilton property as a front desk agent, so I have high standards, and they meet the mark here. Kristina is wonderful and was great when making my reservation. Doug was beyond amazing. He went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. I have a saying for the guests I work with, I want them to feel like they're coming home. The shilo inn made me feel this way. Great view, great service, great rooms. Recommend this location hands down.

Every time I go out of town I stop here on my way. Staff is friendly, always accommodating with trying to get me in the area of the building that I like on the floor that I like breakfast is amazing I love the biscuits and gravy and I'll continue coming here!

One of my favorite hotels, the staff is always friendly, showers are hot, water pressure is great.
The place is a little outdated, but the rooms are always clean, and its nice to have the little balcony in the back to relax on.
The restaurant is fantastic, it was a shock walking in and seeing it completely remodeled, but it was nice.
Only fault we had was coming down late Saturday night for a nice meal and getting blasted with super loud bass/music, and it was really hard for us to enjoy the rest of the meal. It would have been cool to have still had the separate dining area away from all that. I'll bring ear plugs next time haha.
Honestly though, I love the entire place and always look forward to my stays here.

Spacious room, comfortable bed and a view of the dam was very nice. Quiet and welcoming place. Breakfast included bagels, cream cheese scrambled eggs sausage links, a variety of cereal and juice. You should check out this place

Didn't use a room just went in for beverages still don't like the switch up they've made to the restaurant because it's really not kid friendly anymore but that's okay I guess

I had one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Live easy listen music was also a nice touch. It was a Valentines date night! My hats off to the new kitchen Mgt..

We are traveling musicians and have a lot to load in and out. I had requested a ground floor room and we had not only that, but it was located close to the loading area. Small things like that are always appreciated!

We were traveling for my husband's profession and we had been two a different motel that was horrible filthy and on the way home we decided to change motels. Kristina at the front desk was so very helpful. I can't say enough about how helpful and great she was. The motel is understaffed but was clean and made us feel at home. If I could give this a million star rating I would. We also should up hungry and the Portage grill staff was amazing as well. Everyone was very polite and went above and beyond. We will definitely be back and also recommend this motel in the Dalles

Typical 2.5 star hotel. There is a pretty cool old homestead with some standing buildings called the Indian shaker church and Gulick homestead.

Nice new remodel, the pool was great, everything was clean and tidy, the restaurant was good. No complaints!

When I checked in and entered the first room, I noticed a foul smell, and reported it. They gave me a nice room upgrade. To room 109. Columbia Portage Grill burgers are very, very good! The surroundings are beautiful. A nice stay by all means. Just not in the first room they gave me. That one is awful. 224. Top of the stairs. View if the parking lot. Yuck.

Came for the Abate meeting and had a really nice time.

The views are amazing. They are well worth the cost. Hands down the best view on the Columbia Gorge. If you are traveling through I suggest booking online a few days if not weeks to months ahead of planned trip. They tend to be booked on spur of the moment trips, so a little planning ahead will be helpful if this is hotel with the views you are looking for- look no more! Just book EARLY!!

The manager went above and beyond for us when my son left his suitcase on the curb. We didn't realize it was missing until we got to the airport and didn't have time to go back for it; I thought we would never see it again. They arranged to ship it to us in Kansas City. The hotel restaurant has great food also!

Best deal for the dollar in The Dalles.

I stay in the area often and the Shilo Inn has been great several times in a row. The rooms have always been very clean and spacious, the property is quiet and the restaurant is tasty and convenient.

Easy to find location, friendly front desk staff, spacious rooms, great views of the Columbia river. The A/C works great due to the 107 degree weather outside and there is a nice restaurant onsite.

Very professional and courteous. Rooms were large, well appointed, and very clean! Great continental breakfast, a great stay all the way around. And really reasonably priced. Will absolutely stay again!

Had a wonderful stay here!! The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. And the meal we had in their restaurant at night was delicious! Free breakfast the next morning in the restaurant was very good! The waiter and waitress' were very friendly. We are going to make reservations there again, as we travel back home .
