Budget Car Rental

We had a great experience from pickup to getting dropped off at the airport.

Upon pickup we requested to see if we could get a cross over and were offered a four door Wrangler. Upon packing up I noticed some issues with the back window and my wife asked about it and was able to get help switching out with another Jeep, this time with a hard shell top which worked out perfectly. The woman who helped us exchange the rental was so kind and quickly resolved the concern. A quick side note, when your wife gets a compliment at the beginning of a trip, it's how you know it's going to be a great trip.

The rental was great all week, we had no issues and enjoyed the ride across the Island's terrain.

Upon return the service shuttle driver was great and made the trip back to the airport agreeably "fun" according to another passenger. Everyone was so kind!

The service was incredible, the location was easy to get to with the airport shuttle. The driver helps with your bags so don’t forget to be kind and give him a tip. The car was great, but it smelled like cigarettes badly. We ended up making it work by buying air freshener from Safeway and windows opened. We sprayed several times a day and it got better and better until it was gone. The car had no issues other than the fact it smelled like an ash tray. All you need to do it return it right then and there and ask for a different car if it has that scent. We got in late and were tired so we made it work. Make sure to add all of the passengers that will possibly drive the car. We added 3 people total to our rental. Make sure you take photos and videos of all the dents and scratches for safety. Get the additional insurance if you just want to walk away from any issues that can arise while driving a rental. Bumper to bumper coverage is always smart to do.

My wife and I had a great experience with Budget. The rental process was very quick and easy, and the staff was helpful and kind. My wife and I arrived in the night and had initially received a car that had an interesting smell on the interior; we took the car back the next day and they let us switch it out for another one without any difficulties or extra fees. This was very helpful for us especially because we are very sensitive to strong smells.

Service was quick and straightforward. The shuttle to and from the terminal is pleasant and helpful. Only thing to be aware of if you're not a regular Budget renter is there's a $200+ deposit required at the time of pick-up which is refunded to you when the vehicle is returned. Would like budget to communicate about that deposit but that's a company issue and doesn't reflect on this specific location, which is well run.

It was a great experience from start to finish. Check-in went quick as well as check-out. The shuttle was there when we landed and there to pick us up and take us to the airport right when we returned the car. I wish the outside of the car was washed when we picked it up, but the fact that it was located in Kona Hawaii and it rains periodically, I can understand why it wasn't.

Reserving car was easy online. Picking up car was also easy. Car was immaculate. Checking in car was easy and van to airport very convenient.

Rental truck was top-notch. The staff was great. The shuttle bus driver was very helpful. Everybody was very friendly easy drop off easy pick up highly recommended and we will be using them in the future.

Budget has always provided excellent customer service. The vehicles are always clean and ready to go when I get there. They offer fast and easy check in and check out processes. The price is always affordable too. The shuttle service has always been great too.

The staff were extremely friendly and the manager Cheryl was a huge help. Highly recommend renting from here and even if your flight lands at midnight they stay open. Book your car for the latest you can and then just pick it up. Their hours aren’t really accurate because they base it off of flight schedules instead.

This is a comment on customer service, since most rental places are similar IMO. We had an issue with our first car, but due to the long wait when we picked it up, we elected to exchange it early the next day before there was a line (go before 0800 and it's quick!). Anyway, Brian was super friendly and easy to work with. He had us in a new car and out the door with ZERO fuss.

I was travelling alone as a female and felt safe within the presence of all staff - being a late late pick up and an early morning drop off.

Everyone explained things clearly (my first time renting a car) and everyone was so helpful with my baggage.

Was a wonderful experience especially with being very sceptical about rental car companies!

I rented a SUV through Budget for my trip to Hawaii. Everything went perfectly smooth. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the SUV was excellent and returning the SUV was seamless. Even the shuttle that runs between Budget and the airport was great. Can't emphasize enough how awesome the staff was. Would absolutely rent through Budget again

I have rented many vehicles from the Kona airport location (and I tend to rent for long term and multiple contracts). I was particularly impressed on Thursday January 11th - this Budget location remained open to service the customers despite the very delayed and late arriving flight. The staff were patient and positive. The driver was great, chatty and happy. At check-in Blaize the manager was fantastic ensuring I had a safe vehicle that accommodated my large sporting equipment and offered to assist in loading it as well. Deborah was fabulous when I called to exchange a vehicle with clear communication and she quickly solved any issues. I would not hesitate to seek out Budget when renting vehicles in the future.

AVIS experience:

Shuttle but so close it's effectively an on-airport facility.

Extremely efficient, very little delay inbound or out. Shuttle waiting when I arrived both at the airport and on the return.

Car was ready (AVIS preferred)

Friendly staff, very clean car. No pressure for additional insurance.

Wow! Budget Fastbreak is the only way I'll rent a car. Smooth as butter. No issues. I modified my return twice online. Spouse drives free as an additional driver. The absolute best experience!

A reliable and spacious car with good gas mileage. While the checkout took a bit too long, the check-in was fast and easy.

The Avis rental at KONA Keahole airport is a small venue. There is no preferred dashboard or special counter. So we have to wait in line for about 20min to get our car. The agent is very helpful and accommodate our free upgrade from a standard sedan to a intermediate SUV. That makes the vacation in the big island a roomy experience for five of us. Thanks!

Everyone at the Kona Budget rental centre was helpful and nice, from the shuttle driver to counter staff, to the guys in the shop. We really appreciated the free upgrade and that no one was pushing us to add extras we didn't need. Bringing the car back was a breeze. Thanks guys!!
