This place is absolutely fantastic.

My wife and I stopped in during restaurant week and were treated to a wonderful experience from the time we walked in the door.

All of the food was absolutely delicious. The service was exceptional, and I cannot wait to come back.

The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor.

I am not a big fan of duck, but my wife said it was among the best she has ever had.

The escargot was exactly what you would expect in flavor/preparation, but it did throw me for a loop when they did not come in their shell.

Bastille was such a lovely surprise! The front room and bar area have a cozy, warm, french-inspired atmosphere playing fun french music and really transporting me. The wine on offer is all delicious. The main dining area has slightly less charm but is still cozy and lovely to dine in. The food was simply wonderful. We went for restaurant week and opted for the wine pairing, which i’m so glad we did. I had the french onion soup, duck breast main and chocolate cake for dessert. Each dish was wonderfully plated and extremely satisfying. Highly recommend!

The food was exceptional! We went for our 5 year anniversary and had a lovely time. We brought our own wine because I had a bottle saved for the occasion, but we experienced none of the awkward communication that sometimes comes with that. Our server simply confirmed what type of wine it was to bring out the proper glasses and carried on. The food came out in a timely manner, so we never felt rushed. Every dish was prepared exceptionally well. We ordered both versions of the prix fixe menu so we were able to experience the fabulous skill set of the chefs. I would certainly come here again to taste their lunch and brunch menus. I can't imagine having a bad meal here.

Really great restaurant for celebrating New Year’s Eve! The menu was around $160 per person for New Years and it was totally worth it! It was three courses with wine pairing. Really great combinations, the chef does know their stuff! Would love to be back.

Loved this place and can’t wait to go back. The servers were attentive and the tables are nicely spaced out. There’s a nice back patio that I would love to check out when the weather is warmer. Food was delicious.

Update: I dined here for restaurant week and once again, the food was delicious. They were very accommodating, as I had an infant with me and I was given a table that could accommodate a car seat and stroller. The steak frites was yummy and cooked to perfection.

Beautiful evening on the patio. Wonderful food, relaxed and gracious service. Update: returned for birthday dinner…loved the scallops with squash risotto, the charcuterie appetizer with scrumptious walnut fruit bread…delighted by the almond pear tart!

If you come here for an anniversary, let them know ahead of time! There is special chocolate with desert and complimentary champagne. I’d recommend this restaurant anytime. The staff is dedicated to a good experience and will happily help you with pronunciation. We did the prefixe menu with the wine pairing and it was the perfect choice. Portions are just the right size without being too much or too little. The food was the ideal balance of flavors. A delightful dining experience all the way around

Outstanding little French restaurant. We flew into DCA rush and rather than fight traffic stopped here for dinner on a whim. We ordered gazpacho, onion soup, moules et frites and salade Nicoise. Both soups were fantastic! The Gruyère was amazing in the soup. Both main plates were excellent. We then ordered desserts… these were sublime! Have to come back and try more on the menu! Attentive service and the restaurant is well appointed.

We were impressed with the staff, dazzled by the presentation and service and enjoyed every morsel of delicious food! We will definitely be back! ... update, 6months later we went back and every word still rings true!

Celebrated New Years Eve dinner (prix fixe) here with friends. A lot of times the enjoyment is if you hit it just right with what you order. I hit the jackpot!!!! My husband tasted mine and confirmed. The oysters with creme fraiche and caviar was excellent; as was the duck with pomegranate reduction. Others ordered the seafood mixed entree and crab cakes; all very good, but what I ordered was heavenly! The wine pairing is also an excellent $35 price, which included 3 full glasses of nicely selected wines. We'll be back!! Merci beaucoup!

We enjoyed a beautiful Valentine’s meal with wine pairing. The atmosphere was so welcoming and comfortable. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted great. I have to say my favorite item was the broccolini and carrots, I know that sounds like a odd thing to focus on but I’ve been to so many places that do not focus on cooking their veggies. Let’s just say I could have eaten an entire plate 🥰. Be sure to come hungry because the food is a little heavy so no dieters! We will definitely be back!

A fine dining experience very similar to what you would get in France itself. We had brunch and everything from service to food to atmosphere were top notch. Looking forward to coming back for dinner. Also one of the few places in Alexandria with free street parking!

This was my first time here is years. The food was just as great as I remembered. I had the escargot and the steak. They were absolutely great. The steak was cooked to perfection. Not under cooked and not over cooked. Just perfect. The hostess was very attentive to our wants and needs. After we were seated, we continued to have stellar service. We will certainly be back very soon.

Amazingly kind and attentive service, providing some of the best French food and drink I’ve ever had in an amazingly comfortable dining environment. This is a must-try in Alexandria.

Fantastic food with gracious service. Their prix fixe meals are definitely the way to go. I've been there for lunch before but this Sunday, just tried their brunch and it was just as wonderful. It's so serene compared to the hustle and bustle of King St. A true gem in Alexandria.

I came here years ago when I lived down the street and I remember it being delicious and upscale but I had to come back again to double check. The hostess was quick to greet me and showed me where I could find a seat at the bar. I was promptly given a menu and water while I selected my drink order. The barrel aged Negroni was delicious, as was the nut brown ale beer on tap. Today I decided on a cheese board, scallops, and creme brûlée. I felt the cheeseboard could have used a pickle or jam, the scallops were perfection, and the creme brûlée could have been more firm but from what I have read it is intended to be more of a yogurt consistency. Overall Rudy provided excellent service as well as all support staff, I was happy with my visit and definitely will come back again.

Everything was devine..exquisite.. absolutely delicious.. the Salmon.. ratatouille.. the salads.. escargot.. even the deserts were all delectable.. *****

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. We finally went on a Saturday morning for brunch. We arrived at 11:25 a.m. and a line began to form outside the restaurant so we knew it was going to be good. The host and the waiter were very nice, pleasant, and tended to our every need. The food was absolutely delicious. They had a great deal for three courses for $25. I will definitely go again.

It’s Alexandria food week and Bastille had the most intriguing and interesting menu so I decided to go there.

I am glad I did. Very glad. Very very glad.

Because.

The food was amazing. The service was good too. All the food names were really difficult to read so I am not going to bother writing them. Joking, I will try my best to name them accurately.

So I started with the Soupe a Loignon Gratinee and it was warm, cheesy and delicious.

I also had the Foie Gras and that was tremendously delicious as well.

For main course I had the Cassoulet. The duck in it was cooked perfectly. The pulled lamb shoulder was melting in my mouth. The duck sausage was delightful. The second main course was Saint Jacques and it felt like someone has cooked it at home. It was so darn amazing.

Dessert was Valrhona Moelleox and I ate it without even blinking. Very creamy and crispy.

5 stars for the amount of effort in bringing a lot of great flavors to the table.

Fantastic place for a family birthday dinner. They went through the care of setting up a custom menu. The atmosphere is fantastic and the service was great. Highly recommended the beef bourguignon. Desserts were great too.
