The resources here goes above and beyond the books. I have been using the meeting rooms for nearly a year. This place has helped me launch several businesses and helped me get important contracts signed cause they meet me here and the view and decor is better than 90% of the offices in Hampton Roads. The staff almost feels like they are my staff how they assist me so much. Thank You Slover people...

The Slover is a hub for some of the best events the City of Norfolk has to offer. From James Beard Award Winning Chef/Author Michael Twitty to local author readings and promotion of local charities, businesses and D&D tournaments in the basement. Come to a Mermaid Tea Party on the Children’s floor. They even have Drag Queen Storytime!

This library is AMAZING! The employees are helpful and patient with questions and the events or activities they host are great. We appreciate the studio space they provide including 3D printing, music and film studio. I look forward to spending more time here.

A wonderful place for book lovers. They have an amazing selection. Two buildings and 6 floors of quiet, book- filled wonder. There are specific areas for playing at game consoles, and two large computer station areas. The top floor leads out to a room & balcony with seating where art classes are held. On the historic side of the library is an amazing setup for viewing historical photos, row upon row of reference material and a very nice place for sitting down to read or work with selected books. In between the two buildings is an atrium displaying various art. I would almost move to Norfolk just for this library.

One of my favorite libraries. Wonderful mix of modern and historic in the architecture, right in the heart of downtown Norfolk. Massive collection that is well laid out, with lots of resources for research or creative work. Quiet reading area (indoor and outdoor sections) on the top floor. Attached café, and frequent events including live music in the lobby.

Fantastic library. Good collection of titles for research and general fiction reading. The Norfolk Library offers a slew of services including music instruments for check out, telescope and microscope check out available as well. They offer digital check out for ebooks and audiobooks. They also have a good collection of multimedia to check out in house including audiobooks, DVD and Blu-ray titles, and music CD's.

The library also features a maker space in the Selden Arcade next door. It also has dining facilities available for most of the day.

Used books are available to purchase from the Friends of the Norfolk Library. There are some great titles amongst what they have available for sale. At very reasonable prices. They have CD's and DVD's as well for purchase.

It is worth visiting the library just to take in the architecture of the building
It fuses modern and classic styles by reusing a historic building and building alongside a modern structure that is fused into the classic building.

Love, love, love this place! They have 6 floors of great things to do and awesome books! They are always doing something here and the kids love coming here! The 2nd floor is books, games, computer learning and activities...even movies sometimes! Then the game floor on the 5th level...video games, board games and musical instruments! Awesome place!

I love this library! They always have a great selection of new books and it is definitely one of the largest libraries around. It's always clean and tidy, everything is easy to find. I love the children's floor and all the offerings, my toddler always has a great time here. I don't love that the children's section is limited hours though instead of open all day like the ground floor. Parking is also an issue because of the downtown location. I usually have to pay for parking at a nearby structure, but for me it's worth it.

Went for an indie comic book event on the 6th floor, pleasantly surprised by its open spaces, exhibits and manga selection. I’d love to support it, but not particularly attracted to paying to borrow ebooks 🤷‍♀

My favorite spot in the city. One of my favorite parts about living downtown is being walking distance from this beautiful library. If you are a book lover, this is worth a trip into Norfolk. The building alone will take your breath away and the variety of books is endless. Getting a library card from the staff is quick and easy and the library staff are friendly and helpful if you're looking for something in particular. A great spot to browse, study, or just find some peace and quiet in a bustling city!

Slover is my favorite library! They have everything you could ever think of: 3-d printers, media studio, maker studio, etc. They are operating only by appointment for studios and upper level book browsing from 1-4 for due to covid. However, they were so helpful and friendly. If you place a hold online or by phone you can pick up the book at the front desk. Or if you chat with a librarian they will help you find what you need.

Love this Library. Currently I have a photography exhibition up on the first floor for African American History Month. All of the programs I've attended this month have been wonderful, so professional, and tasteful; as are the various programs and activities they have throughout the year. Slover is surely a jewel in Norfolk's Crown - "A Part of What Makes Norfolk A Great Place to Live and Play".

An excellent modern library in the heart of downtown. It makes me happy to know that kids in that area have somewhere safe and educational to hang out after school. I was there last week for the Virginia Gaming Association's monthly game day, where the library generously offers its space for gamers in the area to come and play tabletop games. So much fun, such friendly staff!

I love this library, and so does my family! We go to Toddler Time every Thursday, and my 2 year old loves it! Miss Jen who does Toddler Time is awesome with all the kids! Definitely recommend this library! Parking can be hard to find but not their fault.

This a great state of the art library with a balcony to relax and read. Computer labs are nice. The only caveat is because of the pandemic the computer labs were closed when the library opened back up....not sure if the labs are open now.....one hour on the computer is not long enough to get work done.

Slover is gorgeous. Spacious seating areas, loads of books in the collection, specialty collections, and a calendar of events with something to appeal to most groups.

This library is the gem of Norfolk. I rented the 6th floor community room for my wedding reception, and it was absolutely perfect and stunning. I had access to the rooftop balcony, and it added the perfect backdrop for my guests and me. Working with the Slover and the catering company, Cuisine and Company, was stress free and easy.
