Helton Howland Memorial Park

Very cool spot to visit, if you haven’t already. Not only is there a heap of old military vehicles and a couple of jet fighters, but you can also fish in the lake!
There’s ample places to picnic, overlooking the water and there’s pretty much shelter from the wind from every angle too!
There’s toilets and garbage cans and plenty of places for kids to explore.
It’s a bit of an underrated gem really.

Such a nice park, kids will love to walk it the hills alone are fun going up and down in addition to the huge retired military hardware. Note there two entrances, one on each hill so choose wisely I recommend entering first driving around the road and then making a decision where to park.

I remember going here with my parents when I was a kid! Hadn't been in years, and found it on my way home from work. Hubby and I took our son because he is fascinated by anything military! He had an absolute blast and was so amazed he could walk up and touch equipment that was used to defend our country.

I've worked on the military tanks and trucks as far as painting and sandblasting, but the area and environment is peaceful and relaxing and a great place for picnics and/or just to chill out at. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Beautiful park. Great place to take a picnic. Table on beach area. Plus multiple throughout park. Not a lot of traffic throughout. Tons of military tanks and aircraft. Must go!

Beautiful and down to each brick layed, there is honor for those who have serviced for our county. I enjoy bringing my children here so they can appreciate history and art colliding perfectly. We are proud to say we have family members recognized for their dedication to the the United States of America.

Peaceful, very pretty place that my wife and I like to go and enjoy. The military vehicles and aircraft beside the lake is a comforting sight. We like to pick up something in Tallapoosa to eat and take it to the park to eat.

Nice place to take a walk or have a picnic, they have a lake also. They have military items such as jets, tanks, and vehicles. There's no charge for park entrance, but they do accept donations.

If you are a Vietnam veteran or have a Loved One who Served How and Memorial is a "Must See" Where else can you visit THUD Valley!

4th of July fireworks were amazing, as always! Horse rides for the grands was a lot of fun too and inexpensive!

The park is always well kept and a great local place to visit! Would love to see more events take place here!
