Drago's Seafood Restaurant - Metairie - The Original

What can I say? Drago’s is iconic now, the creation of the Charbroiled Oysters was one of the best “new foods” when Drago’s started making them… and theirs have been imitated by so many other restaurants.

Drago’s also has some amazing fried, broiled, and other delicious seafood preparations. Seriously, I’ve been here nany, many times over the years and it is just wonderful every time. They also have a great, well-stocked bar and can make most drinks I’ve ordered over the years.

The service is usually impeccable; if they are busy, you may have to wait a little bit. They also do not take reservations and they don’t split checks… so be prepared.

Atmosphere - it’s always crowded and busy. There are several different rooms where they can seat you - each one is quite different. They can handle large parties and do a fantastic job with it.

I think the food is consistently good among all the different Drago’s locations… I have never had a bad meal at one, ever.

My husband and I MAKE SURE to eat here whenever we visit NOLA. You must try this place. They have the best char-broiled oysters. I love the size of oysters, and it's perfectly seasoned. Their open kitchen concept is lovely and lively. There was one time when my husband and I went to Drago’s twice daily. It's that good! 🦪 🔥

Great Food with the Family!!! I have always gone to the Drago's in the French Quarter, but this was a treat I didn't realize I was missing. The food was AMAZING!!! I did not realize that the restaurant was family owned....the family members were there, greeting customers and taking reservations. Go check it out!

Not sure how I've never had this before, but today won't be the last time. Started off with the gumbo and tried the charbroiled oysters. Gumbo was very good as an app. I was going to try another item on the menu, but after tasting their oysters, I just ordered another dozen. I have no idea what special addictive seasoning and sauce they use but it's unlike anything else! Try the oysters, bet you will get another dozen!

Fried shrimp, sweet potato fries and broccoli was great. Charboiled oysters were cooked perfect but smaller than normal. Bloody Mary had lots of veggies and stuff in it too. Great service by waitress Nancy too.

There is lots of free parking around this restaurant. There were lots of tables, so there was no waiting for us even though there were lots of diners there. We started with a dozen charbroiled oysters. Don't worry with a half dozen if you are going to share. I ate six before I took a breath. My wife got the shrimp eggplant stack. It was a wonderful Cajun Italian dish. I ordered the Shrimp Ruth. The shrimp were overly spiced for my taste. We didn't have room for dessert. Would love to come back again.

My wife and I needed a date night! We chose Drago’s as our stop. The food was extremely tasty and presentation was on point. Reason for my review Is that our waiter Heath was fabulous at the service that he provided for us. Super friendly very attentive made us feel welcome with our dining visit for example, We ordered a half dozen of oysters which took roughly 10 to 20 minutes to arrive at our table he came to our table 5 minutes prior and gave us a glass of wine for free because of our wait on the oysters. It’s just the small things that make a customer happy! With multiple tables he was serving I never felt that he forgot about us. The food was really was fantastic. Thank you again for a rememberable night out.

So we had the famous charbroiled oysters. I must say they were very good. I love garlic! I had the Shrimp Alfredo with Angel Hair Pasta. It was goid but a little too much sauce.

Delicious, fresh oysters are a must have at Dragos! Every other dish is just as tasty and true Louisiana cuisine.

1st restaurant me & children tried in NOLA, and they definitely delivered. Dis location considered Metairie, and the food & service was everything! I had the Boudin Stuffed shrimp 10/10!!

After eating at the New Orleans Hilton, we decided to try The Original Location in Metairie and it did not disappoint!
We had their signature Charbroiled Oysters which are unlike any others we have tried at other restaurants. So smoky, rich and flavorful they are a MUST ORDER!
We also opted to try their Blackened Gator Tacos which were grilled and seasoned deliciously. They will be added to our list of Drago's favorites moving forward.
We sat at the bar and our bartenders were friendly and attentive making the overall meal very enjoyable. Drago's is for sure an eating destination that should be on your MUST TRY list!

What an amazing experience. Char roiled oysters were epic, all the food was terrific

First time here, went for lunch and the service was quick and punctual! We had a shrimp po’boy, spinach dip, lobster Mac n cheese, and a burger. Everything was great and tasty, great big portions. One of the managers, Ivana came over to check in and I complimented her on how I absolutely love the fact that they use sanitizing wipes to wipe down tables between guest. Great luncheon, will be back!

My first visit and it was so worth it. Our server Jennifer was friendly and efficient. She made me a coke zero with cherries grenadine...it was lovely. The oysters and the Mahi Mahi dish were so tasty and decadent. Their shrimp po boy was delicious as well. I will definitely be back.

I dined by myself while on a business trip so I sat at the bar. The servers/bartenders were phenomenal and so was the food! I had the Charbroiled Oysters for my appetizer and the Boudin Stuffed Shrimp for my entree. I will definitely be back to Drago's when I'm in town.

Popular spot to be in Nola! Everything we had was spectacular! Alligator bites and seafood gumbo for an appetizer and red beans and rice with tasso and andouille sausage for me and my daughter had the fried chicken with fries and corn on the cob. Oh and the cornbread 😍😍😍 We will be back!

I can't explain how amazing my experience was. The Oysters are Heavenly. Every time I am in New Orleans this is my stop of oysters and cocktails.

Visited Drago’s for a business dinner. Tried charbroiled oysters for the first time and they were absolutely delicious! Also had the seafood pasta which is one of the best pastas that I’ve ever had. Drinks were strong, staff was very attentive and atmosphere was excellent. Will definitely stop by whenever I’m the area!

Amazing shrimp, on the seasoned side, the boudain stuffed shrimp was the best paired with the charbroiled and fresh oysters 👍 washed it down with some michelob on draft
