I really enjoy browsing here and almost always find something to take home. A huge Mystery section for those who love the genre.

If an author reading or similar event is going on, it’s gonna be standing room only and crowded in the store (in a good way).

In late July McIntyre’s Bookstore in beautiful Fearrington Village, hosted me for their weekly story time to share my children’s travel and adventure picture book, Mommy’s Big, Red Monster Truck, with area kiddos. I was so impressed with this gorgeous store and it’s talented and knowledgeable booksellers. McIntyre’s vast selection of books and support of local authors is incredible. It is an exemplary bookstore. All bookshops should strive for this level of excellence. The amazing interactive story time events keep kids engaged and completely inspired. Most definitely one of the BEST bookstores I’ve ever visited. Not to mention it is located on the gorgeous grounds of Fearrington Village that include a farm with livestock, restaurants and shops. You must visit!

This is a beautiful bookshop with an amazing variety of books AND unique gift items. But more than that, it's a gracious gathering space for author readings, book signings, discussions, presentations, and workshops. This place has HEART and is always a joy to visit. You'll find new treasures and delights here every time you visit.

Briar Chapel book club meets at McIntyre's annually for an overview of their recommendations for our group. Pete Monk, the buyer, shares his time and enthusiasm for interesting, enlightening and entertaining books with us. This charming bookstore has books for diverse interests and readers of all ages. Mystery fans will be delighted with the "mystery room" and the yearly top mystery award. Author events every month add to the joy of supporting this local independent bookstore in the quaint Fearrington Village community.

McIntyre's Books is a remarkable, independent bookseller. Despite its small size when compared to the big guys like Barnes and Noble, they manage to keep a nice supply of current titles on hand. The people who work there are actual readers, not like the chain stores which are staffed with clerks rather than knowledgeable purveyors.
One of my favorite features of McIntyre's is that a good percentage of the books are displayed with reviews from staff. So, rather than just reading the book jacket which contains only what the publisher wishes to share with you, you get more insight into the actual contents. Take the time to review Pete's Picks if you're browsing with no particular title or author in mind. You can bet you'll come away with a book you'll be pleased with.
The atmosphere is very pleasant and when you interact with the staff you get the feeling you are discussing books with a fellow book lover.
Don't expect big discounts like B & N, but the joy in shopping there is well worth the difference.

Absolutely fantastic, charming bookstore! For the size, it has a great selection. They carry lots of fun little gifty things as well. We’ve met several authors here and one from NYC even commented on how unique and special McIntyre’s is. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I can’t recommend this bookstore enough!

Wide selection of books for kids and adults. Idyllic setting and also great gift ideas throughout the store.

The best consults around on mystery. Pete is the expert. Aside from my favorite books, lovely cards, planners and unique gifts and small remembrances for friends who share the joy of reading.

Very neat little bookstore. The main area feels a little crowded with gifts and trinkets, but otherwise it's a nice space with a great selection.

One of my favorite bookstores anywhere. A great selection and a good number of top authors visiting. It's tucked in a very charming village in the middle of the country, although only 15 minutes from Chapel Hill and 40 minutes from downtown Raleigh.

Gorgeous setting, great selection, friendly staff. Excellent children and local authors sections. They can order anything they don't have in store for you as well. Fantastic local bookshop!
