Fantastic Lexington Style Q. Chopped coarse with outer bark and some dip. Our family loved getting the big banana split too! Will be back soon.

If you like a hometown diner experience come check this place out. We stopped
today for lunch and had a great experience.

Our waitress had a lovely southern drawl. She was so warm and attentive to our needs. She made great recommending our group.

We ended up ordering the white chicken plate and the dark chicken plate. One corn dog kids meal with Mac and cheese. We also had a pulled pork sandwich and some hush puppies.

Everything was served hot and fresh. We had no idea that we could have additional hush puppies at no charge. Such a great surprise.

Our side dishes were: potato salad, onion rings, Mac and cheese, fried okra. Our child said the Mac and cheese was the best she’s ever eaten. Really great experience here. We’re so glad we stopped on our road trip to Raleigh.

The pork tray with red slaw was "old fashioned" good. Sauce is served on the side so you have exactly the best amount. The pork is tender with just a tad smoke. Don't leave without the home made banana pudding! In fairness of the 4 star Service rating, we went at peak lunch time so understanding the busy time.

My mid week trek to a small town took me to Thomasville to purchase a long sought after mechanic's tool cabinet. Lexington was about 15 minutes away, and being near the lunch hour, I felt the need for barbecue. This was my second visit here and I was not disappointed. I had the small size chopped barbecue tray and had another fine dining experience. Fine because the barbecue tastes wonderful and is very finely chopped, and the white coleslaw was finely chopped, and the taste of the hushpuppies was great with a fine texture. Even the ice in my sweet tea was chopped so fine. The lady wait staff is personable, and so quick. My lunch at $11.02 sets the bar for a great lunch at a great price! And that's my 2 cents worth!

Don’t get this BBQ confused with eastern North Carolina BBQ because they are different. This is Lexington style BBQ and they use just the shoulders for their BBQ and a vinegar sauce. If you are used to the sweet style the BBQ center/Lexington style will be a shock for you. The service is GREAT. They are very kind and will get you anything you need. The food is just right. I got a burger and it tasted amazing! It’s very clean inside and has a nice atmosphere.
A Warning: the red slaw is not NORMAL SLAW! It is a vinegar based slaw (so basically slaw with vinegar and ketchup in it) if it’s not your cup of tea then don’t get it. White slaw is still and option. Over all it a great place to go in your traveling or just want to eat out!

I've grown up eating at the Barbecue Center, and it has always been great! The food, service, and atmosphere is perfect! And to add to the greatness, their banana splits are to die for! You have to experience it to understand what I mean. You will NOT be disappointed!!

The food was good, but nothing to write home about except for the banana split! What really impressed me about this place was the cleanliness. It is an older establishment, so the attention to detail and cleaning is very intentional. Good job barbecue center!

Great place to have some BBQ, great atmosphere of yesteryear. Had the chopped barbecue and red coleslaw and a side of green beans some of the best out there. Definitely - if you're passing by on 85 worth the short drive. Actually worth a long drive on a Saturday to have a great lunch on a Saturday.

First off the staff was amazing - that’s what moved it to 5 full stars. As for the BBQ sandwich it was good. It was nice to taste the smoke on the meat. Their red slaw and dip married well with the meat. The battered onion rings were fantastic. Building is old, but you can’t tell that from the inside. Hubby had a What-A-Burger, which he described as good. Fries were ordered well-done, which were yummy as well.

Amazing place! Barbecue Center is a great place for BBQ and their Beef Soup is among the very best soup I have ever had. Cool decor too!

If you want to experience Lexington (western) style BBQ, this is one of your top two options. Probably more famous for their Banana Splits, they hold their own with traditional shoulder pork; properly chopped or course. Plenty of seating and an atmosphere reminiscent if my childhood visiting local diners. If you can, ask for a chopped plate with sauce on the side…sometimes the pork can be drowning in the sauce without an opportunity to savor the smoke flavor the pitmasters work hard to curate.

Anytime I am close to Lexington NC, I always stop at the BBQ Center. I was joined by my Son today. He had a BBQ salad and I had a course chopped BBQ plate. When I was a child I always wanted a hot dog, things haven't changed much. My Son and I both got a hot dog as well. Out of all the BBQ restaurants in Lexington, this has always been my favorite. If you're in the area, stop on in for a treat. The service is always top Knotch and the food is excellent.

Restaurant is in a great location on Main Street with easy access from both US 64 and Business I 85. I had not eaten here in over twenty years, but the barbecue was even better than I remembered it from before. I ordered the barbecue salad with hush puppies, my wife got a barbecue tray with hush puppies, one grandson ordered a hot ham and cheese sandwich with fries and the other grandson got the cheeseburger basket. Nobody left hungry, everyones food was served hot, freshly made and in large portions. My wife and I both had to get to go boxes for our food

One of the 3 best Q joints in Lexington. And among the top tier best Lexington style in the State. Many say #1, some 2 and even less say 3. But regardless, it is NOT dissapointing. And will most likely be in your top 3. Portions are decent. We'd definitely return.

Called ahead to order a barbecue pork shoulder. It was ready for pickup when they promised and the meat was juicy, tender, and flavorful.
To make the perfect (IMHO) barbecue sandwich, we suggest adding buns, dipping sauce, and slaw.
2023 Update: the staff are friendly, expedient, and work together like a well-oiled machine. Nothing has changed about this place. I love its dependable familiarity.

What a great barbecue place! Lexington is well-known for its barbecues, and Bar-B-Q Center is a perfect example of this. Since you enter, you can feel the smell of pit cooked pork and chicken. The hush puppies are phenomenal, the chicken breast with the barbecue sauce is out of this world, the pulled pork tender and tasty, and the service was A+. We didn't try the banana split, but I know it is famous.

My family went there with a party of 21 people. We had multiple servers that took VERY good care of us. I had the 6oz Angus burger with bacon, pimento cheese, tomato, and onion. Also had a basket of fries.

Tonight, while going through Lexington, I decided to dine in, at this BBQ restaurant. I am glad that I did because everything about this place was awesome. I ordered the 1/2 lbs dark bbq chicken entree, with sweet potato fries, fried okra and a side of dinner rolls. The chicken was very flavorful, their BBQ sauce is homemade and all of the waitresses check in on all customers to make sure everything is going well. I was pretty well fed, and full before I finished my last bite. I will definitely come back to eat here.

Great first experience. Food was delicious. My husband and I both had Bbq plate with fries. He had fried okra with his plate and I had the green beans. Green beans were very good. The fried okra was fresh and hot. The bbq was seasoned well. The dip was very tasty as well.
