Mikasa Construction

I hired Mikasa to do several projects for a commercial building I own in downtown Tyler. Projects included sheet rock repair and paint, awning rebuilding, window and trim replacement and full exterior paint.

After a bad experience with a prior contractor, Mikasa came out to do a bid for me, and I was impressed by the attention to detail in pointing out things the previous contractor didn’t. The owner, Leo followed up with me in a timely manner and gave me some money saving options, which I appreciated.

His crew was punctual, and spent a great deal of time making sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Leo also followed up with me to make sure everything met my expectations several times throughout the project. I was really happy with the overall experience and professionalism of Leo and Mikasa Construction, and my building looks wonderful!

We had damage that was done to our home during the last winter storm and looked for a reputable contractor to help with the restoration of our home. We called several companies and some even came to get measurements to get us a quote. Unfortunately, none of those companies came through with a quote with the exception of Mikasa Construction. They came out and by the end of the week we had an estimate to send to our insurance company. From start to finish they kept good communication and worked to get our home in better shape than it was prior to the damage. The owner and his staff were more than polite and professional which made the restoration process easier, even through the minor hiccups that were out of their control. I highly recommend them and will call them again for future projects! In addition, they are bilingual. Thank you for a job well done!!

Definitely recommend Leo and his team! We demoed our small bathroom to the studs and they were able to remodel it in no time. Very competitive pricing as well!

We used Mikasa, Leo and his crew for remodeling multiple things at our house on the lake. They redid the long retaining wall by the lake, repaired foundation, remodeled 3 bathrooms, redid a large part of the deck, windows, resurfaced concrete & replaced some windows & screens for us. Leo and his team are extremely professional, excellent follow up. We were very concerned about a long distance job (we live in the Dallas area primarily). Leo and Beto were excellent in taking pictures, communicating on progress and staying mostly on time (some unknown things cropped up and during demo and they had to expand scope and did that for us). The work done is of high quality and looks beautiful. I actually invited Leo before we bought the house to take a look at the repair work and he gave us honest, excellent advice (even came on Saturdays multiple times). We had issues with some of the concrete work that was done by them & Leo made sure that the issues were fixed and we were happy. The price was also fairly competitive. Mikasa definitely have the experience, quality of work and customer focus. Thanks Leo and team!

Also, forgot to add that when the freeze happened, we were not at the house. Leo & Beto went to the house very quickly to survey any damage (which had nothing to do with the jobs we had contracted them for). Found the pipe leaks under the house and in the attic, pumped out the water, fixed what was needed. We were so glad!

My wife and I reached out to Mikasa Construction about finishing out the attic space in our home, we had a good idea of what we wanted but had never done a renovation this size before. Leo's experience and perception cannot be understated, he listened to what we wanted to get done and told us exactly how he would accomplish it if we went with his bid, he was friendly and straightforward.

Once the project started I appreciated that Leo kept in touch with us every step, letting us know when to expect his crews or materials via text or phone call ahead of time so we were informed. His guys were always on time and worked around some of our HOA complications without any issue as well. He quoted us 6-8 weeks to finish the project once framing had started and met that goal with a week to spare, now we have an amazing finished bonus space and office for our home.

If you're looking for a general contractor that listens, pays strict attention to detail, is clean on the site and really cares about your project, then do not look any further than Mikasa Construction. My husband and I got bids from 4 different contractors for a room addition on our home and we had an easy time selecting Mikasa. Leo showed up with his fantastic assistant, Maria, and listened carefully to what we wanted. Since my husband was about to go to work out of town for 90 days we needed a contractor that we could depend on to not cause me stress or problems. From day one the project went smoothly and was a very pleasant experience. Leo's team (thank you Beto!!) worked diligently and thoughtfully throughout the entire timeline and I always knew what was happening. Maria would come and check on the progress and call to be sure I knew when they'd be arriving in the morning and ask any questions they had. Leo would also contact me to check in on my satisfaction with the work--it was fantastic! We love our addition and we have already referred many people to Mikasa for their home projects. We've worked with Leo & his team at Mikasa Construction on two different whole house remodeling jobs. Their work was EXCEPTIONAL! Last year, I experienced what my insurance adjuster bluntly referred to as a “water event.” The damage was severe enough that I was forced to pack up two lifetimes’ worth of possessions, empty the first floor of my house, and move out for three months while the repairs were effected. Finding a reliable and trustworthy contractor can be a nightmare, especially if you live in a rural area. Fortunately, I discovered Leo and Mikasa Construction.

What was probably a relatively small job for Mikasa was a major undertaking in my experience. The repairs included removing all the damaged sheet rock, plus the cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen, and installing new flooring, baseboards, doors and door trim, new lighting, new cabinets and granite counter tops, bathroom fixtures, wallpaper and paint, even removal of the awful 1980’s popcorn ceiling.

Leo guided me every step of the way, helping me make choices and decisions, and teaching me enough about what was being done that I felt I had chosen the best option for each part of the project.

Leo, in my opinion, is a rarity in today’s business world, an honest and principled man. His wide knowledge is readily apparent, and he and his craftsmen are all both talented and conscientious. On every project, Leo wants to do the very best job, because he’s very proud of Mikasa and the reputation they’ve achieved. His goal when each job is complete is for his customers to be completely satisfied with the work Mikasa has done.

I feel as though Leo and Mikasa have taken a disaster and given me a completely new home. If you give them the opportunity to do as much for you, you’ll be glad you did.

Leo and everyone at Mikasa were very professional, and barring bad weather, they moved the job ahead very quickly. We remodeled my Dad's old house, originally built in the early 1900s, depression era, remodeled inside and out on a very tight budget. Mikasa did a great job. My wife and I are very happy. I would highly recommend Mikasa Construction!!! We had to remodel our master bathroom due to severe termite damage!!! The owner of this company Mr. Leo Renteria came to my house, explained to me everything in a way that I was able to understand and gave the most reasonable estimate! I interviewed several construction companies, and Mikasa was by far the best decision I made! The workers were on time, very respectful and cleaned up every day after they were done. The project was finished in advance and with amazing results!!! The owner Mr. Leo and his assistant Claudio Sanchez were always responding to my phone calls and we’re communicatng with me about every decision or suggestion they had !!! We are planning to use this company by the time we will be ready to built our new home!!!

We recently moved our office into a building that needed some work in order to make it safe and functionable. We reqested 3 bids from other Tyler contractors, and Leo with Mikasa was the only one who showed up on time and gave us a bid in a timely fashion. Little did I know that Leo was just getting started impressing me. He followed through with the process from start to finish, and was more than wiling to work within our strict corporate guidelines. The attention to detail that Mikasa places into there work truly shows. Mikasa is the only general contractor we even consider when there is work to be done!

Did a kitchen remodel plus attic room addition with MIKASA this summer, everything turned out great, Leo and his crew are very good, always on time and super responsible . The projects were done in the agreed timeframes and look great. Leo's crew is very good they kept everything clean and tidy at the end of each day. Leo was always responding to my calls and text messages, he always had time to answer my questions, doubts and concerns. I highly recommend MIKASA , we have worked with them twice and we are very happy with their work!

Mikasa did a great job with our recent small construction project. We had them open up the living space with an 8 foot wide opening in a wall, and remove another small wall. They got back to us very quickly, started and finished work the next week, and followed up to make sure it met expectations. We are very happy with the work they did, and would recommend them to anyone.

Mikasa General Contracting & Remodeling has done outstanding work for me in the past. We hired Mikasa for a variety of projects at the company I used to work for. The work was always done with high quality workmanship and the best customer service. I've been using this company for many home projects for 10 years or more. They have done driveway resurfacing, roof & ceiling repairs/replacements, complete laundry room renovation, window replacements, entry door replacements, interior & exterior painting and various exterior repairs/replacements.

Most attentive construction crew I've worked with. Leo is very professional and explains everything in a clear understanding way. He kept in contact and came out to check the progress of the work. Beto worked hard and diligently to get the task done. He works well with is crew and communicates the progress. He listened to my concerns even while he was finishing up. Addressed it and adjusted as needed as one of my doors became stuck after some foundation repair. I was worried but Leo assured me that Beto will finish the job and fix everything. Beto came through. They want to to the job right and they seem to take pride in their work and respect your home. I have many more projects I will be accomplishing with Mikasa.

Mikasa did a full remodel of my both my bathrooms and kitchen. It was done quickly and with high quality. Highly recommend, would use again
