Losing a loved one is such a tragic, challenging experience and I lost my husband unexpectedly. I was in shock and totally unprepared. I reached out to Robert Byrd and Sunset for assistance. Robert treated me like I was a family member. He guided me throughout the entire process kindly, with respect and ease. He made me and my daughters feel comforted and made every one of our wishes regarding honoring my husband unfold. Robert and his staff gave my husband the most beautiful service with military honors! Every single detail was done beautifully with such care, comfort and respect. The care did not end with his service as it does with many other facilities. When I picked up my husband’s urn, I was so comforted by the beautiful area and display (see photo). It is those details of care and comfort that most impress. I would recommend Sunset to everyone. I have such peace. I thank Robert Byrd and staff for that.

Our mom passed away in December and we chose Sunset to take care of things. I can tell you that this was the best decision we could have made. Andrew worked with us on the planning and decision making and it was obvious that he actually cared about us & our mom. He made a very difficult time a little bit easier and I am incredibly grateful to him & to Sunset.

They worked with us on negotiating the cost & I was expecting less effort on their parts due to the price cut. However, they still did far more than I had ever expected & for that I must give them a great review. It really showed that it's a compassionate family owned business. I always found their property to be beautiful & said this is where my services could be one day. But after our recent experience with my brothers funeral service I KNOW I will not trust anyone else with my final wishes! Sunset is exactly what you want during such an emotional moment & don't be afraid to be honest about your situation. Not everyone plans early in life for the what ifs.

The time came for my husband of 43 years to leave this earth. He had his arrangements set with Sunset Memorial Park. The Byrd family took such good care of my husband and myself. They showed professional excellence but also kindness and friendship. When all was said and done, I left Sunset not feeling sad but at peace. I think that is the greatest compliment I can give. I know that they will continue to be there for me.

AMAZING PEOPLE!! I honestly can't say enough about the amazing ,friendly and caring staff! We've lost many loved ones and have used them since 2001 and honestly wouldn't want to go anywhere else they're good people who actually care about your loss and situation instead of just trying to get a pay out. We lost a huge part of heart 2weeks ago but they were with us the whole time 1 part that honestly meant a lot to us is they treat your loved ones with love my uncle was carried away peacefully covered by a quilt and into a van it wasn't the horrible dreaded white sheet and hearse. Thank you again for everything we are truly thankful for the love and care you've always showed our family ❤

Comforting, exceptional, personal and first class-all adjectives I would easily use to describe my experience with Sunset. Andrew and staff, went above and beyond to make my mother's service a loving and beautiful tribute to her life. The process of planning a loved one's service is never ideal, but they manage to turn a unbearable experience into a feeling of peace that their loved one will be given the service that best reflects and celebrates the life they lead. There is very little to be happy or thankful for when a loved one passes away, but I can say we were blessed and thankful to have Dylan and Emiley there to guide us through the difficult process of handling arrangements for my wife's mother, Agnes. They were both patient and understanding and we never felt rushed or pressured to make the difficult decisions. We highly recommend Sunset Memorial Park.

I was honored to conduct the final honors for my friend and neighbor, Larry White, on Wednesday, 17 May 2023 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. This was one of the most impressive funeral homes and staff I have ever encountered in all my years of ministry. The garden and grounds were immaculately maintained, and the adjoining military cemetery surpasses, in beauty, that of Arlington. The owner, Mr. Byrd, took a personal interest in all participants and events concerning the proceedings, and Heather, a staff member, was so compassionate and helpful that I first mistook her for a member of the family of the deceased. There was no lack of attention to detail, and all staff were compassionate and kind beyond measure. It was simply a pleasure to become aware of such a wonderful facility in our local community that could not be matched in any state in which I have conducted services.

I honestly cannot say enough about the professionalism of Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home. Loosing my father in August, and living in a different State I had no idea what funeral home to choose. From the moment they received my father, to me arriving and making all the plans for his cremation ...there was nothing but kindness and professionalism that went into the care of my father and the mourning I was experiencing. Once I was back home they ensured that I had all the proper documents, checked on me, and made it clear I could call at anytime with any questions going forward. Just recently they sent me a beautiful ornament of remembrance since I could not be present for the ceremony. While loosing my Dad has been the most emotional experience of my adult life, I cannot thank SMP for making the entire process seamless. I cannot recommend them enough.

I just wanted to say that during the time of a good friend's need Sunset Memorial was fantastic. The minute that they were informed of the passing of her family member they completely took over. In her time of grief Mr Byrd and his staff made things so much easier for her. The service was beautiful I thank them so much for all they did in this time of need. My husband’s sudden and brief illness and passing brought us to Sunset, and we could not have asked for a more compassionate, professional and genuinely caring experience. Alanna was absolutely who we needed and anticipated our every need, captured Kevin’s spirit in every way and expressed our sentiments even before we could verbalize them. All the details were handled expertly and everyone felt the service was one of the best they had attended. Alanna conts to check on us and has made us feel truly cared for and valued. Words could never express just how wonderful everyone is at Sunset. Our hearts were and are still completely broken but Ivy and Emily took such wonderful care of us and our mama/wife. They’re still checking on us 2 weeks later. The grounds and buildings are impeccable. I feel that Ivy and Emily are truly part of our family now.
