Il Sogno

So, I'm doing this comment knowing that it will make it harder to get a table. It's worth the wait. Il Sogno was nothing short of flawless. From the entrance experience, watching the invitation to warmth and good food unfold as we climbed, to the effortless ballet of all the staff, everything was inviting and the perfect environment for dinner. Every staff member treated us as their own to make sure we had a perfect dinner. Server, host, bartender runner, gracious and deservedly proud owners all made sure that everything was beyond expectations. Food specifically, just order. You will not be disappointed everything is flawless. The signature Cacio e paper, prepared tableside in a whhel of cheese was a nuanced delight with hints of delicate cream balancing the rich peppery notes. Salmon risotto was generous and perfectly prepared. Having Mama in the kitchen shows the tight ship, run with love in the back of the house. The family recipes are sensational, and in fact really taste just like Mom made them back in Orvieto. Wheaton has been making a lot of moves to become the classy dining and entertainment destination of the western suburbs. Il Sogno is a great part of that dream, and has made a huge contribution. Try to get a table soon, you really should check this out before we get stuck behind lines of beautiful people with earlier reservations.

Can’t say enough amazing things about Sogno! Finding this place feels like I’ve discovered a hidden gem and I’m extremely confident in recommending this place to anybody who wants to celebrate something special and enjoy true Italian dining.

Where do I start?! Sogno is probably my most frequent date night spot. Its a tradition that every time we go we arrive early and grab a drink at the bar before getting seated. I love the watermelon aperol spritz (best aperol spritz I’ve ever had)!

Getting a table on the rooftop is truly an experience. You get to sip a glass of wine under a canopy of colorful flowers with an amazing view of downtown Wheaton, enjoying a warm summer day, need I say more?? You honestly can’t go wrong dining inside on the main floor either, no matter what you’re in for a treat.

The food is absolutely delicious. I get the cacio e pepe every time and they come out with a giant parmesan cheese wheel and toss their freshly made pasta in it next to me table-side! My boyfriend always gets the short rib with either the parmsan or butternut squash risotto and he says if he had to choose his last meal on earth it would be this one!

We already can’t wait for our next visit!

Stopped in at the bar. Awesome drinks! Rosarita, and Smokeshow old fashioned, and Arrivederci. We had the aioli dip. Really good! *edit came in a year later, and got one of the best old fashioneds I've ever had!

Our waitress was new but she was amazing! Very attentive. The food was amazing. My husband had the salmon and I had the parmesan cheese wheel with spaghetti. Holy holy that was so good. My husband couldn't get enough of the salmon. He said it was the best he's ever had.

Went for dinner wanting to try something new after going to all the local places before. This place exceeded my expectations. Rose was a great host and attentive. There was a lot of thought and taste put into the menu. Usually do not struggle deciding on items for my meal. From the old fashion, burrata, pear pistachio salad to the Lobster Cappellacci. Everything was amazing. Flavor, taste to presentation. Hope to be back soon and have the same experience.

Great place for a group! Top level seems to have a nice view, might even be able to see the city. Floor length urinal in the mens room. Nice surprise. Make sure you bring good vibes only. Nice bowls for salad.

My husband and I went for an early dinner date night and sat on the new rooftop. It was simply amazing. From the food to the atmosphere, and service — it was exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Excellent service, really good food and a nice atmosphere that is lively yet you can hear your party’s conversations without straining. We would definitely come back! The Cacio y Pepe was phenomenal!! Made right at the table.

Both the food and service were top notch. We visited on a busy Friday night and were well taken care of by Rose and Jess on the rooftop. Our appetizers, pasta, entrées and desserts were delicious, well plated, and served at the appropriate temperature. The short rib entrée was A+, tender, flavorful, and substantial. The filet mignon special was cooked perfectly and each bite was better than the last. This was our first time visiting and we will definitely be back again soon. Great for date night. The rooftop is special and feels like you’re somewhere besides the suburbs.

The atmosphere on this rooftop is hard to beat on a nice, summer evening. Reservations is highly recommended(rooftop is 1st come 1st serve). The food was very good and the service was pretty attentive. The beer & wine selections are good. Definitely the shining star of Wheaton downtown.

If you want truly freaking amazing Italian food in downtown Wheaton, then Sogno is a MUST! The owner, Rose along with her wife Tiffany, take pride in the restaurant with her mom as the head chef with true family recipes. Everything on the menu is incredible!

The misto griglia was delicious. I loved the spicy piggy. I will be back for more. The upper outdoor area is so peaceful.

Sogno is a beautiful restaurant, attentive staff and delicious cuisine! We’ve eaten there for dinner and had a ‘sip and see’ event on their rooftop. I highly recommend eating there and hosting an event. The owner, Rosa went above and beyond to make sure our event was perfect! All of our attendees raved about the food and ambiance. Our event menu included: Avocado Bruschetta, Pumpkin ravioli, Pear salad, Short rib, Chicken Marsala, Gnocchi pomodoro and Coppa (dessert).

Great food and friendly staff. A bit crowded on a Friday night but that's to be expected from this wonderful restaurant serving up exceptionally delicious dishes. Perfect spot for date night. Get the grilled calamari!

I did my wedding reception at Sogno on the rooftop and let me tell you the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Sogno for any events you may have to plan. Rose the manager is amazing and the staff are very professional and great!

I’ve waited a year & a half through the pandemic to get back here. Sogno is my gold standard in so many ways. From service, to the delicious meatballs, my wonderful veal Parmesan & all the awesome new additions to the menu each time.

A true gem for Wheaton & Chicagoland in general!!

Hands down the best food I’ve had at a wedding in years!!!! Fantastic service from all staff and ownership. The space is so unique and beautiful highly recommended for private events. As well as any dinner date because again the food was amazing 🤩

The team at Sogno was absolutely incredible! Everything was super organized, efficient, and friendly. There was never any pressure yet the servers were such great sales people. After working in the food and beverage industry, I appreciate so much of what I saw. Cindy was our server and she was super knowledgeable of dishes, prices, ingredients, and how to be accommodating to my vegan diet! The food was classy and tasty and anytime we needed something someone swooped in within seconds with it. I was thoroughly impressed!
