Royal River Grill House

Great food and service! The fish in the fish and chips meal was so mouth watering, it just melted in your mouth. We loved their soups and adult grilled cheese sandwiches. Their burgers were really good, too. They had a great selection of food. Beautiful view and comfortable atmosphere. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous.

This was our second year having lunch at Royal River Grill in February to celebrate my father in law’s birthday. The restaurant is in somewhat of an industrial location right on the river and surrounded by marinas and boat storage facilities. The restaurant interior is beautiful with vaulted ceilings and large windows that provide great views of the river. The food and service are both excellent. We had a group of 10, with 4 of those 10 being boys age 5 and under. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, and did not mind that we walked our toddlers around the dining room from time to time. The calamari app was one of the best I’ve had with two great sauces. One of the lunch specials was a short rib Bahn Mi that was delicious, and the truffle fries were worth the $4 up charge. Prices are somewhat high but are in line with the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.

We are visiting from Chicago. We are staying in Portland and today is our one year wedding anniversary. We chose to come here tonight for dinner. Right when we pulled up we knew we had a great spot. Then, we walked inside and we got sat outside right by the window. It was fantastic and the view. So beautiful. The service was absolutely 100% on top of it. We had the pleasure of having Nicolette and she was amazing. The food from the apps to dinner to desserts was so delicious m. Everything was just so good! We wished we lived closer. Not that we don't have amazing food in Chicago, but this was on point. Thank you for making our night even better.

This restaurant didn’t disappoint! We had the Maine mussels as appetizer. Best we have ever had! (Picture is 1/2 the order) Make sure you taste the broth it comes in. We were drinking it out of the bowl!. It was so good! 2 of us had the Chicken Marsala which was probably the best I have ever had! Another had the pork chop, which was thick and tender. Very flavorful! Another had haddock and said it was one of the best meals she had. We topped off with dessert, because it was my birthday. Had the chocolate cake which was divine and the strawberry rhubarb cheesecake which is probably seasonal, but you have to get it if it’s on the menu! Very unique and so good! The best part of the whole meal was our waitress who went above and beyond for my birthday! The sad thing is we were having so much fun I forgot her name! I do know she is originally from a town (funky name) near Gettysburg, because we are headed to PA on our vacation! Thanks for a great night!

We enjoyed our dinner at Royal River Grille House! Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was unique and cozy with a view of the harbor. We arrived early so we could sit outside and I highly recommend that! Our favorite food item was the haddock dinner, but the scallops that came with the special were absolutely incredible. The only thing we didn’t love was the lemon tiramisu dessert as it wasn’t very lemony, but it did not tarnish the overall experience.

Love this and the group! Love my server. Being such a local this is an amazing spot! I’m a business owner, and this is a great business.

Upon arrival, the ambiance was of low lighting and romantic. The temperature was perfect for winter (warm and cozy). The bar area was large and looked fun, definitely would come back to have some cocktails. There was an outside dining area that had clear plastic walls and heaters for those who like outside seating.

Our reservation was done online and when we arrived, we were seated right away. Our waiter, Bryan, was very pleasant and had a smile that made our evening enjoyable. He recommended a Reisling wine that I thoroughly enjoyed. My husband and I ordered an appetizer that was not listed online but on their physical menu - it was sourdough bread with a delicious butter spread that was so mouthwatering! This appetizer alone I would make a reservation for!

My husband ordered a pork chop that was everything he envisioned to be and taste. Flavorful, tender and fully satisfying.
I ordered the duck which was interesting. I have never had duck served with brussel sprouts, beets and potatoes... nevertheless it worked, and I was surprisingly enjoying every bite.

We both really enjoyed our date night and would most definitely come back to try more of the menu!

First time going. My boyfriends grandmother brought us out to lunch here. Beautiful place and the food was excellent. My steak was charred perfectly and the cornmeal fried shrimp were delicious. We came up to Maine for a concert the night before so all I had with me were some ripped up jeans and my beat up converse. I felt slightly underdressed. We had a table right on the ocean port side and the whole aesthetic was very relaxing. Loved the up scale yet laid back vibe.

I’m reviewing this months after my initial two visits while visiting Maine with my wife, because I wanted to come back here so bad that I googled just to look at the food. This place is AMAZING. We ate the majority of the brunch menu and it was flawless. The service was fantastic, the ambiance was relaxed, the scenery was lovely at the food was *chefs kiss*, perfect. If you’re visiting Maine, do yourself the favor and go here. You won’t regret it

I highly recommend this place, I had their special seafood pasta, and they were very generous with seafood in this dish, I honestly think there was more seafood than pasta in my plate with 2 huge shrimps as big as small chicken leg, it was 7 of us and everyone loved their food. I had the best fried calamari ever for an appetizer.

I can't say enough about this wonderful dining experience. The building is so pretty and open with tables right at the windows on the water. The ambiance is upscale and very engaging. Our service was excellent and the food was amazing. They have a wonderful variety of options on the menu and a great drink menu. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Unique cocktails with great presentation. Polite and professional service. Had a clam chowder and lobster roll. Can't go wrong with either one of those. Had some wine that was recommended to me by our server. Fantastic views. Highly recommend.

I met family for Brunch at Royal River Grill House as we enjoy the restaurant, and we know we will have a great meal.
The Bloody Marys are always good and are provided in 2 sizes. Two of the group had Prime Rib Hash. It is called Hash, but it is a large piece of Black Angus beef on a bed of diced vegetables. The dish is finished with 2 poached eggs and Hollandaise. The third diner had a daily special of salmon and whipped feta.
The prime rib hash was a lot of food. I was not able to finish my meal and was able to get a container.
I look forward to my next meal at Royal River Grill House.

We have been here several times for lunch and dinner. It is always outstanding! Beautiful location and lovely atmosphere. The food is delicious. Fantastic appetizers( don't miss the Baked Focaccia) and wonderful entrees. The food here is always fresh and perfectly prepared. A short(<10 min) wait for a table on a beautiful late summer Saturday afternoon gave us a chance to sit at the bar and our group ordered some of the signature drinks which were all very good. The Royal Mary is served in a glass made from a Grey Goose bottle and garnished with a jumbo shrimp and a skewer of olives. Consistently a great experience.

Decor and design are beautiful, food is delicious, staff are friendly and professional (Brian was great). The seafood was fresh and tasty, the lamb chops were incredible, my cousin said it was the best salmon he has ever had...everyone was thrilled with their food, drinks and desert. Lovely evening.

The place is beautiful i will ask for a seat with a view next time but still so nice. This would be a great date or romantic dinner place. We had the wedge salad was good but would have preferred more dressing it was basically lettuce. Also had the clam chowder wouldn’t recommend this. But the duck breast was amazing. Enjoyed every bite. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly. I will be returning and would recommend this place

First time here second time in the area! Great find! I had swordfish steak with shrimp and vegetable rice! Wow! Abigail was our server she was friendly and most helpful with navigating the menu and specials! Hostess was friendly and quick to seat us.
