Some of the best food in southern Maine. Period. If I could give it higher than a 5 / 5 I would.

The calamari was superb. The short rib fell off the bone. So buttery and awesome. The mashed potato and sweet potato were both incredible.

The chowder special was awesome. The chocolate mousse was awesome. What is there to say? Go to this restaurant.

Bonus: Its out in the suburbs away from touristy areas.

This place made our bellies full, our spirits bright, and our friendships merry! If I ever make it to Heaven, there damn-well better be a Village Tavern up there otherwise I'm asking to have my sins reconsidered. Thanks for the spiritual awakening, Village Tavern!

A hidden gem in Kennebunkport. Excellent service, delicious food served on hot dishes. Great selection of side dishes, and homemade sourdough bread. The baked Alaska dessert was not only beautiful but delicious.

Absolutely amazing food! Starter to Salad to Entre to Desert, every bite was outstanding! Join our good friends Elias and Jane, at their recommendation, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. Mark, our server was phenomenal too! 5 Stars!

Had a great meal at the Tavern last night with my wife and daughter. Evan was our server, and he did a nice job. He was pleasant, attentive and helpful.
My daughter had the Lamb shank, my wife had the blackened Salmon and I had the Linguine with shrimp, scallops an clams. All were excellently prepared with a great presentation. We all love the quality and amount of food. There were lots of sides to choose from, I picked broccoli with Bleu cheese, it was fantastic.
We sat in the outside area, which was very comfortable and warm for a cool night.

Drove down from my uncle's place on lake Winnipesaukee for a date and a wonderful girl. She was a political bundler with the former Bush administration and showed me part of the compound in Kennebunkport. Was a bit crowded so we took her dishes for takeout and ate on the beach.

My wife and I came here for an anniversary dinner. On a Wednesday night we got her at 5pm and the place was already 95% full, so I would recommend coming early. We did get seated right away.

You started with the crab cakes which were amazing and stole the show.

Then we had the spinach salald and the short ribs with a side of fried brussel sprouts. The ribs where huge about 4 inches long each and you get two.

Lastly we completed our anniversary dinner with the special of chocolate and peanut butter trifle with vanilla ice cream.

Everything was amazing.

Next time I come back I'm having the crab cakes as my main meal!

Fantastic meal!! It was our first time at the Village Tavern, we went based on reviews and couldn’t be more pleased! We were blown away by the service and food! It is not what we figured a “tavern” to be! Totally 5 star food and service. Beautiful indoor seating. We asked for the owner at the end of our meal to express our compliments. We had the lobster risotto, muscles, beef tips, and short rib (+ drinks). Each and every item was cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious! The bill came and we were shocked that with the food quality and service it wasn’t doubled! Very moderately priced. We highly suggest if you haven’t been-go, if you have I’m sure you’ll go again...we will!! On top of all that, watching how the staff scrubbed and cleaned their kitchen made us feel very safe during this crazy time! Kuddos to your whole staff on their skill and professionalism!

This place is hands down the best restaurant around..the crab cakes are the absolute best I’ve ever had..I loved the coconut crusted haddock..wife had the lamb shank and it was so tender and melt in your mouth good!! We try and go twice a month..seriously folks this place is a gem!!

If you're looking for well-made classic dishes, this is the place! Attention to detail and service were both incredible. Our waitress, Ty, was attentive, welcoming, and offered us great suggestions for the rest of our stay in Kennebunk. The chicken with lemon demi-glace was a generous portion and was very tender. Salad was very fresh and not-overdressed. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. We certainly will add this to our travel list for next time!

Absolutely outstanding food. Personal favorites are their short ribs, lemon aioli Brussels sprouts, and any and all of their seasonal cheesecakes.

Party of 6 was able to get reservation. Great service, easily splitting the bill and accommodating slightly different arrivals. Food was tasty, well prepared and delicious.

We found this restaurant in Kennebunk years ago. We never miss a chance to go there. The food is fantastic as is the staff. We come twice a year to the Franciscan Center and always go to the tavern the first night. It is a wonderful experience every time!

This is my favorite restaurant in the area! Everything was reasonably priced and delicious. The chocolate torte was one of the best desserts I've ever had. I can't wait to eat at the Village Tavern again soon! I highly recommend!

This is a wonderful place with a great atmosphere and an ideal place for couples and smaller parties of 6 or under. It's popular, so I'd recommend making reservations. Drinks are a tad on the high side, but the food is competitively priced. They have a great menu that should satisfy anyone from meat eaters to vegetarians.

Elegant looking, not overly priced. Great menu selection and fabulously tasting food. Great cocktail selection and also a full service bar. Bloody Mary's great as well as the service and staff. We will be back

4 of us went here tonight for the 1st time. It was beyond fabulous!! The food was extraordinary, delicious and worth every cent we paid. The wait staff was high class and so welcoming and attentive! Can't wait to go back. I wish I could rate this place with 10 stars !!

We’ve really enjoyed supporting this establishment since their opening in 2012. Never a disappointment, always feels like being home with family.

With the loss of “opened year round”Joshua’s and Varano’s, it’s never been more clear how much of an asset the Village Tavern is to our community.

This family operated business will always have a special place in our hearts!
