First let me say that I am always skeptical of anyone who calls themselves a lawyer, more from my own preconceptions and those that we see running/ruining our government than from personal experience, but still skeptical. I also consider myself to have a quick trigger on my B.S. meter and can spot a fake from a mile away!!! So it was surprising to me when I walked into his law office and was met by a warm and friendly receptionist whose name currently escapes me (my sincere apologies if she ever reads this). To me, it was a mild comfort that his decision making to represent himself with a well mannered and kind person was a good start, but I was still skeptical.
I sat down in the reception area and expected a long wait, the kind of wait you usually would get in a doctors office, but much to my surprise I was quickly escorted to his meeting room and greeted by Mr. Calcagno who insisted that I called him Andrew. He gave me a brief history of his practice and inquired about the nature of my visit. (I had been struck by a car in a hit and run while riding my bicycle home from work). I was first impressed by the way he listened and let me speak uninterrupted and only when I finished did he start asking me questions, questions that I had not even thought would be relevant but later turned out to be quite relevant indeed.
I was very comfortable speaking to him and his interest in my case seemed to go beyond making a quick buck for himself which was surprising to me. He seemed extremely hard working and apologized profusely when he had to take an important phone call from his wife. Not only was my B.S. meter not going off, but as much as I hate to admit it Andrew was one of the most genuine men that I have ever had the pleasure to meet and never in my life did I ever think that I would say that about a lawyer. And for those of you more skeptical than myself, NO, I am not easily fooled if ever at all.
I was not interested in getting money for this case because that wasn't what would heal my ankle, but Andrew was able to assist me in tracking down the woman who hit me and brought her to justice and I was awarded beyond my expectations. I can say without any reservation whatsoever that if you need a lawyer, Andrew J Calcagno is who you would want representing you!!!!
