First time left a very positive first impression. Dropped in for a quick breakfast sandwich: sausage egg and cheese. Light on the ketchup, pepper, no salt. Service was friendly and the place was clean. The sandwich, although simple, was just PERFECT. The roll was warm and very fresh. The sausage was good quality and the sandwich well proportioned. Totally hit the spot. I am not one to write a review on a simple breakfast sandwich, but this is the best I have had in years. Win.

Wonderful staff, owner is incredibly kind and caring about your experience. This is a must visit. We go in as often as we can. The signature sandwiches are wonderful and the specials I’ve tried have all been delicious. I ordered todays special posted below and it was a delicious well balanced sandwich full of flavor. I would order this sandwich easily once a week if I could.

I’ve been coming to Mr. J’s for more years than I can remember, it’s a true staple of downtown Cranford. Everything has always been great: breakfast, sloppy joes, subs, and even the daily specials. I’ll be a patron of Mr. J’s for as long as they’re open.

Fantastic local spot. It feels like home every time you go there - the food is great, but the people are amazing.

Enjoyed breakfast with hubby today. I had the Commuter and he had a pastrami Sloppy Joe. Everything was delicious! crispy bacon, cheesy fries the way they should be- not soggy, coffee was strong, and the service was warm 😉

I came here for the first time yesterday. Can’t wait to come back. The food was so delicious and there are a billion options. The owners are so nice as well and I felt very welcome being there. A great neighborhood location. I highly recommend everyone to grab a sandwich from here!

It’s a classic small town place where regulars meet to talk and you can get good food for good prices. On my last visit I got breakfast and it was fast, hot and delicious! The coffee is also very good. It’s amazing how other places can mess up a simple cup of coffee!! I also like the way they fit the Taylor Ham (pork roll) on the thinner side! I don’t usually have lunch there but I’ve had many different breakfast items and have never been disappointed!

We enjoyed our meal here! Food was fast and delicious, and the employees were friendly and personable. Had family in town that was looking for a classic reuben sandwich (pictured) and Mr J’s did not disappoint! We will be back for sure!

I had a bacon Cheeseburger from this place. A Friend of mine order food for all his co workers anything they wanted off the menu I kept it nice and simple. Man when I tell you that burger was delicious and well seasoned, with no condiments absolutely delicious. This place definitely earned my business

I always order the Dagwood or the Big Will.

This place equals to Good food at reasonable prices. It's my favorite spot for a quick meal when I WFH or when I am home for whatever reason.

Their breakfasts are great, it's always hard to decide between pancakes, waffles, omelettes & the classic breakfast sandwiches.

They can even tweak them a little bit to your taste. For example a typical Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese with Green peppers and Onions is pure perfection.

Each time I don't feel like making breakfast, my family knows that they are getting a treat (Mr J's)

Update 2020 - Forward:
The new owner Angelo has been a huge improvement to the place overall. He has introduced daily specials which are amazing.
My personal favorite is the Gang of Greens sandwich.
One additional detail to call out is that since Angelo took over he has introduced consistency year after year. Each time you go you will always get the same service and food quality.

Sloppy joes! The best in the area. Highly recommended deli with all the sandwiches you can imagine. A classic cranford joint!

This place is a gem. Food is always delicious, no matter what you order! The classic sloppy joes or various breakfast or lunch sandwiches are always on point. Best of all The owner Angelo is the nicest person you’ll ever meet and his amazing staff are top notch. Highly recommend this to everyone! Mr. J’s is a must have! Support local!

Fantastic deli. Owners and employees are always super friendly. I've been there a few times now and every visit I ended up ordering the same thing because it was so tasty - their signature Sloppy Joe! It's a huge sandwich that any enthusiast would appreciate. Great sauce and plenty of meat. Highly recommend if you stop by.

HONESTLY, The "Lenny Kid" breakfast sandwich might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had.

The standout here is the bread. So fresh, and the texture beats a kaiser roll any day. "Pork roll" is the suggested meat choice; I substitute turkey bacon-- and they don't skimp. Offering a long hot Italian pepper, instead of jalepeños is a great choice. More flavor, and just enough heat, especially when combined with the pepper jack cheese.

Sure, it's pricey for an "every day" sandwich, but if you're looking to splurge, try it out.

Heard about this place and new owner Angelo Lomonte. Hubby and I decided try it out. Best pastrami and corn beef sandwiches tasted and ate in a long time. Sandwiches were so big that I had take some out in order to eat it. Great prices and friendly atmosphere. Large selection of all types of food. Definitely recommend to all

I placed a last minute order for a sandwich platter on a Saturday morning. I wasn't sure I would be able to place it; but, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The sandwiches were delicious and they were ready at the pick up time I chose.

Another place that's always on my bucket list during my travels, this place makes the best sandwiches on the East Coast! Sloppy Joes are incredible, and with several different varieties; their subs, pasta, and salads are excellent choices too. I'm a loyal customer of thirteen years and always recommend it to friends who are passing through New Jersey.

I only recently heard of this NJ Style Sloppy Joe. Then realized it's right down the road from me. Had to give it a try And it lives up to it's reputation. I went with a Hot Pastrami Joe. Wife had regular old Italian Sub and that was great too.
