The process of getting a license can be very frustrating especially going through to customer service phone line. But the team at the physical location in Newark was very helpful and understanding. If you are frustrated with the process, I highly recommend making the trip to the building and allowing Mary and her team the opportunity to assist.

You be lucky if you happened to talk to Vincent. He is the best representative, and 5 stars is for him and not BON.

The woman I spoke with on 5/5/2022 at 1045am was very professional and nice. I was calling about my checklist not showing items checked. Turns out there is a glitch in the system so I can not see on my end completed items. She was able to tell me what they had completed on their end and not to worry. The call wait was not horribly long either.

Hoping I can help other people by posting this. I was waiting for over 2 months for a multistate license and was afraid that I would not be able to start my job on time in another state. Because NJ is a compact state, you cannot apply for a license in another compact state so I felt stuck waiting for the compact license. I went to the BON in person, even though Newark is almost a 2 hour drive for me and they issued my multi-state license in 20 minutes and were very professional. If you really need your license, my advice is to just take the drive and go there in person.

I recommend everyone to go in person to the BON. I went at 10AM and within an hour got my NJ RN license #. Just needed to do Nursys Verification from the Nursys site. Once the lady confirmed I had done that she said give it an hour for my license # to appear. Calling over the phone is just a hassle. Go in person! They are super nice as well!

Staff understood my issue and forwarded my information to the proper channel (her supervisor). Told me to except a call back in a few days. She was professional and courteous.

Hey everyone. I just received my license number via endorsement and wanted to share my experience with NJ BON. I have applied on 04/09 online and attached all supporting documents online along with the application same day. I checked the status of my application online each day and every 7 days I called the Call Center to inquire about it as well. Four weeks later there has been no updates online. The call center was useless. They told me every time that they are a separate entity from NJ BON and are not aware of NJ BON current actions regarding the application besides what it states under your application checklist online (which I can see without the Call Center)... Still don't understand the purpose of the Call Center... By week 4 I started really to worry. I went online and read all of the horrible reviews and horrifying stories of applicants who had to wait months and months for any kind of updates regarding their license. Some suggested taking a trip to Newark to the BON.. I took their advice - and thank to God I did!!! Thank you dear fellow nurses for this most useful piece of information out there! When I arrived (and it was 05/08) I was surprised by how there was no other visitors to NJ BON except for me.. It was very easy to get in touch with the actual human being who has been processing my application. I brought copies of all possibly needed supporting documents and passport photos. They took my passport photo, verification from Nursys, and receipt of online application. Then, the person responsible for my application came out to me and we spoke. Her name is Ada and she was extremely helpful. She handed me the fingerprint form and told me that she has just printed my application. Ada gave me her direct line phone number and told me to call her back once I have my fingerprints done. I was amazed of how approachable and open she was (after reading all of the reviews online I didn't expect such warm reception). I got my fingerprints done the very next day which was Tuesday (had to drive 3 hours to the center but that was the first available appointment and I was happy to grab it). I called her right away. Again, to my surprise, she actually picked up the phone (I was expecting to be sent to voicemail). She then instructed me to call her back on Monday as now she will be waiting for the results of the fingerprints. The next night, Wednesday, I checked the status online and fingerprint requirement was already marked as "Complete". On Thursday morning, 05/11, I called Ada once again, and she gave me my license number as we spoke on the phone! I was absolutely amazed! Took me a trip to their office and 2 days later I have a license. Ada is absolutely amazingly helpful. My advice to all - give them some time but if you need to speed up the process - GO TO NEWARK and see them in person. Don't even bother calling the Call Center, waste of your time. My experience turned out be a great one! Thank you Ada and NJ BON!!!

I began my licensure endorsement process on December 11th and was terrified that I wouldn't have my license number in time to start the job I so desperately needed. However thank you to the WONDERFUL, and extremely helpful and thorough staff my license number was posted by December 24th. I called them daily to make sure all my documents were received and updated. Each time the rep would scroll through my chart and once a young man stayed on the phone with me while I updated my chart to make sure all documents were received.

THANK YOU Ms. Diane Scott and Ms. Katrina Williams FOR ALL YOU HELP !!!!!

I almost didn’t drive here because the call center had me so convinced there was nothing they could do. Can’t express this enough - DRIVE THERE. Hoping this gives another desperate person like myself some hope throughout this whole process. I am a week away from starting a job I thought I was going to have to give up on because transferring my license was taking so long. I drove there today and spoke with Sadé and a super nice man at the reception desk(whose name I did not get) and they were both so kind and helpful. I was licensed before the end of the day. So THANK YOU!!

Rosann Lyons was very helpful and sweet every time I called. She had my license issued to me only 20 minutes after I submitted my last requirement. Definitely the easiest process I've had with licensure so far!

7-11-2016.
The board was very helpful to me on my initial visit, as I had the wrong paper work filled out and they stayed behind to help me and also notarized my papers as I'm from out of state. As of today I have my New Jersey nursing license! I read some of the reviews and I did not receive any such treatment on either of my visits! If it weren't for them I would not have my License as I had everything done wrong! So thank you to the staff from the bottom of my heart for helping me, its greatly appreciated!!!

I would like to thank both Mike and Taracenan for helping me get my ATT on my trip there. Coming from Princeton and needing at least an hour and a half drive plus the difficulty of finding my parking on a stressful process was too much, but both Mike who pleasantly greeted me and helped me on my concerns and Taracenan who was in charge on documents for foreigners helped me in a positive and professional manner, she even explained to me the misunderstanding that happened and processed my ATT in just a few minutes. Their work is greatly appreciated and I hope they won't stop doing their great service once you're there. Thank you so much Mike and Taracenan!

Lori in customer service was so sweet and helpful. I was nervous to call in based on the other reviews, but she was sincere in understanding my frustration and able to give me the update I was looking for. She is an outstanding customer service rep!

Thank You, "DIANNA" - amazing staffer at NJ BON! Dianna stayed on the phone with me as I navigated what should be a simple online RN Endorsement application, but wasn't. Dianna stayed with me for well over 30 minutes, as I ran into patience-testing problems with application and gathering up info, etc. She was so calm, patient and knew this process. Yup, at the end of process and Dianna's amazing assistance - I paid via credit card the pricey cost to have our license endorsed by another state. (Something we ALL should be proactive at the Federal level with USA RN License being transferrable in ALL 50 states.) I have a few more docs to upload, etc. but Dianna said that I could call the NJ BON and ask for her if further phone assistance/questions arise. TU, Ms. DIANNA!

They were pretty good with me. The wait time went by fast and they answered my questions without rushing me off the phone. I would say pretty efficient !

These five starts are geared directly towards Miss Virginia Burks who took the time out to investigate and solve our issues with licensing in a timely manner. It was really appreciated, especially now, during the pandemic, with NJBON not being as active as they were. Thank you once again.

Mike at Board of Nursing was extremely patient and helpful to me yesterday with many issues. This is Reshma from Mango Home Health /Mango Staffing and Billing. He proved to be very knowledgeable and understood clearly all the concerns and issues. His calm and collective nature sailed me through all the items successfully.
I am very impressed with his professionalism as well as his friendly nature. Thank you Mike.
He was able to resolve all the issues one by one which required a lot of patience. I wish him all the best with his position and further.
