Avenue East

Whoa. Call me Guy Fieri because I just went to Flavortown. I tried Avenue East for the first time this evening and it totally blew me out of the water. We ordered two spicy tuna rolls ($5.50), an eel avocado roll ($5.50), a shrimp tempura roll ($5.50), a chicken teriyaki entree ($13.95), pan fried chicken dumplings ($5.95), the buddha's feast entree ($9.50), and the house lo mein ($9.95). Pretty much all of it was excellent and I have no complaints.

I have to start by singing the praises of the sushi. Seriously, it was spectacular and on par with any best sushi joints I've been to. There was a generous amount of fish and eel in each piece, and the rolls practically melt in your mouth. Totally worth it! The dumplings were awesome, too, and even though there was a sauce on the side, it wasn't even necessary as the dumplings were replete with flavor. I'd order them again in a heartbeat.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the lo mein. It had beef, chicken, shrimp... and all in abundance. Big, plump pieces of shrimp scattered among shreds of flavorful beef... I'm still thinking about it! Solid choice -- you can't go wrong.

Lastly, while I didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't speak to kitchen speeds or anything like that, I did meet Steve, the owner, and he was very polite and friendly. Really a nice guy!

I don't know what other people leaving negative reviews are talking about but I can't wait to get Avenue East again.

Love love food!!! Make reservations for 8.30 pm and they were ready for a party of 12 celebrating big!!. Food was so tasty and portions were just right. We Will keep going back and back!

Just call me crazy but this is hands-down the most traditional, flavorful, East-Asian food that I have ever had.

After an easy-going tennis practice at NSRC, and about to get ready for my USTA Tournament nearby, I got great service in blazing speeds. The staff and especially owner were so nice, exceeding my expectations greatly.

I have had a long, extended period of time looking for the right combination of Asian Fusion. After going to dozens of these Fusion restaurants, I have never been amazed, really, by any of the aspects. But at Avenue East, I have finally found my designated place for Asian Fusion.

Let’s start off with the quality of the food. After my meal, I wasn’t able to speak, marveled by how amazing the meal I had was. The boiled dumplings were the perfect combination of healthy but delicious food. Paired with the shrimp tempura, I was astounded how perfect this restaurant was. Now, onto my entrée. I received chicken and broccoli from this unique restaurant. I cannot fathom or put into words how delicious it was. I think I stumbled into flavor-land. Every single other restaurant that has this entrée cannot even touch this level of awesomeness🤩. The broccoli was tender and not soggy for once, while the chicken was some of the best I have ever tasted.

After my tough tennis match at the USTA tournament, I had my takeout food ready to go, and it energized me in no time.

I have never given 5 stars on any other review that I have posted publicly to the community. Usually, most of my reviews are private, but as for Avenue East, I feel that everybody looking at reviews should see how amazing this restaurant is!

Avenue East provides the burst of energy needed to accomplish goals in life. The flavor of this restaurant is on a level no other restaurant can touch.

Many people talk of giving 10 stars is to a restaurant, but what’s the point of that? That is why for this restaurant, I would give ♾🤩!

Had it not been for the pandemic and working from home, I would have definitely missed out on this local gem. Now we order from here a few times a month. The sushi is fresh and rolled tight. I hate sushi that falls apart. They have really good warm appetizers as well. I'm not in love with their hot entrees, not because they taste bad but because they don't taste like the terrible Asian fusion food I'm used to eating. Their entrees very clean tasting, not overly salty, sweet, greasy, or overcooked. They also allow some adjustments within reason like make it extra spicy, put the sauce on the side, don't add x,y,z. They haven't resumed to indoor seating but the customer service is excellent. On a really busy night, you might have to wait an extra 5-10 minutes for pickup, but they always apologize even though it's not necessary. The prices are what you'd expect to pay for good sushi.

We had take out and it was hands down the best Asian food I've ever had, everything was delicious. Its so much better then the standard take out joint. These guys know flavors. I can't wait to go back and try it fresh. Land and Sea and a Coconut Chicken Dinner. Do yourself a favor and get some !!

I really like this place. i come here a lot for special events, birthdays, small meetings. The food is asian fusion and so delicious. The service is on point. The waits are worth it. My only issue is some of the dishes are tricky so ask questions. I ended up ordering what turned out to be a chicken breast covered in fancy ketchup. The dish itself was fine, probably delicious to someone else. Coconut shrimp, order several of these. All the appetizers are crazy good. Good place for a date, a bit noisy as people sit pretty close and it gets crowded. Excellent sushi bar.

The best place to go for sushi too! So far their sushi are the best sushi I’ve ever tried. I literally feel heavenly pleasure from their Godzilla roll! My eyes are looking for more even when I’m full!
This place welcomes you with a personal approach. They literally remember names and orders of their constant clients so they greet you remembering what you like. That makes you feel special and welcomed there!

I just moved into town and after seeing their reviews I decided to give them a try. I could not believe how delicious the food was. I ordered padthai. The owner was nice to me while I was ordering, welcomed me to the community as well. Overall my experience was amazing. I can't wait to try all their items. Delicious food!! Trust me I know authentic and this was it.

Just had the lunch special today and am very happy with how everything turned out! Great website with clear and correct ordering details, wonderful customer service, and delicious food at a wonderful price! I highly recommend and look forward to going back!

I can't really say anything bad about the place. There's a certain kind of Asian fusion that isn't 100% my vibe, but I can't deny that everyone seemed pleased with the food, the prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was clean, and the service was good and timely.

You ought to be in the mood for this kind of Asian fusion, but you'll likely have a good experience if you decide to go.

Love Avenue East. Been coming here since 2010 when they first opened. They have really good food and attentive service. It can get quite loud in the restaurant and sometimes it does not feel very private, therefore I would not recommend this for couples. It is BYOB and there is a liquor store across the street. There is only street parking which can be very difficult to find and challenging for handicapped patrons.

Love their healthy Asian fare! We visit this restaurant frequently and always enjoy their fresh and tasty menu items -- in particular, their Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Triple Delight, and Chicken and Broccoli. My husband always orders their sushi, which he says is terrific. My only wish is that the food would arrive hotter (heat hot!).

My wife and I have been visiting Avenue East since it first opened, and have never failed to be impressed by the quality of the food and friendliness of the service. Even though we no longer live in the immediate area, we make a trip back every holiday season to have dinner with our kids and enjoy the holiday decorations in and around the Cranford area.

I strongly recommend the Kung Pao chicken, the sweet and sour chicken and the spring rolls .. they are excellent! This is a BYOD restaurant, so you can bring your libation of choice to enjoy with dinner. The management and staff are unfailingly friendly, pleasant and professional. I highly recommend Avenue East if you are in the Cranford area.

One of my favorite local restaraunts! Every time we go, the staff of super friendly, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food is amazing! They have my favorite fried dumplings!

Always a delicious and fresh meal here. The steamed vegetable dumplings are the best around. They are fresh and thin, not too doughy. Miso soup and the Kung Pao chicken are some of my favorites.

Always fresh always delicious Chinese. I’ve been buying from here for over 5 years and since coming I have not been able to eat Chinese food anywhere else! Singapore noodles are my absolute favorite

My favorite place to go eat. Food is unreal, I haven't had anything that hasn't blown me away. Best restaurant in NJ. I'd vote it. Don't think about it, just go. Your welcome.

Love this place- food is great, sushi is fresh (best I've had!) and desserts are awesome! Can't go wrong! BYOB is also very convenient!
