Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar

We stopped in to Hook and Reel for my birthday dinner. I love good seafood and have enjoyed great seafood on the East coast, the Gulf coast and the Pacific coast. When I saw Hook and Reel I thought it wouldn't hurt to try, but I wasn't expecting what we got. There seafood boil was fabulous! We got it with the house special spice and it was unbelievable. I would rate this as one of the best I have had. I am looking forward to returning soon as it is only an hour from home.

This was a great place to eat. This was not what I used to for sea food. This is a southern Cajun style feed fest. I loved it and the food was excellent. The decore was fun and interesting and kept the kids entertained. I had the oyster basket with Cajun seasoned fries. My wife had the lobster bisque, and my sister had the flounder basket. We were all happy with what we decided on. It was good and a really treat. With that said, we decided, while we were in the restaurant, that we were going to go back and we needed to get a seafood boile. Those looked amazing, and I want to try one. I highly recommend it, and I'm going back.

My mind was blown away! Until today, the best Cajun food that I have ever had was naturally in New Orleans.

When they brought my food out and I took my first bite, I had to remind myself I was traveling through Utah to see friends on my way to sacramento, lol!

I hope someday this amazing place arrives to Dayton ohio!

What a wonderful place! The food is exactly what we were expecting. I had a crab meat roll with crab meat fries. It was awesome! One thing I would suggest them for the tables in the middle is to increase the lights a little. At the table we got, we could not even read the menu, it was like "theater dark". We just moved to a booth next to the windows and it was a lot better.
We will keep visiting in the future for sure.

This is a favorite place for our family to go and celebrate birthdays. Hands-down the best chicken strips. Any of the family has ever had. Of course with the fish options. The wife and I love it. It’s a place that even though it’s focused on fish the kids want to go to for special occasions.

Delicious seafood boil. 3 of us shared the family feast. The lobster was fantastic. Shrimp was tasty. The crab legs are pretty small, so they lack in meat. Good crayfish. And the seasoning was great!!! Recommend spicy level with the hook and real special seasoning.

Moving to Utah I thought we will never find a good seafood restaurant... was I wrong! This place is wonderful! Good clam chowder and the boiled bag with crab and clams was so good. Save room for the beignets, so good.

If you haven't tried it it is freaking amazing. Every single dish we ordered was off the hook. I will never go to buffalo wild wings again after having wings here. They were insanely amazing. This restaurant has the highest quality of staff that ensures everything is great. Fresh made to order. Best clam chowder. I went to New England and couldn't find anything that came close.

Heard of this place from a coworker and wanted to give it a try, very happy we did! The staff is friendly and informative. We hardly had to wait for our food. And when it arrives it was delicious! You will get messy, but they provide plenty of napkins, gloves, and a sink to wash up. Refills on drinks came at the perfect time! Highly recommend this place for any seafood lover 😋

This place is SO GOOD. The waitress was a complete sweetheart. I've never tried crawfish before. I wasn't a fan because they taste like dirt to me. However, we got the boil with Cajun seasoning, shrimp, snow crab, mussels, sausage, corn, and potato. Everything was incredible. Lots of flavor and lots of food. Be ready to get messy! 😁

My fiancé and I ate here for Valentine’s Day and had a delicious dinner. Our server Bryce had some great recommendations.

We started off with the crabmeat fries. I love good loaded fries…and these were absolutely fantastic! The fries were cooked to perfection and the flavor was great! We’d definitely order these again.

We did the Valentine’s Day special which was dinner for two for $69 (very clever). It came with an appetizer, main course, and a dessert. We chose the crabmeat fries (delicious), crab, shrimp, extra shrimp (which was an additional $4), and a lemon blueberry dessert. We chose to get the hook & reel original sauce in a spicy heat level. I can do a little bit of heat, so spicy was great for me. I probably could have gone a tad hotter. I didn’t try the next heat level, but I think my fiancé would have liked that more. He loves spicy food.

The main course was delicious! We couldn’t get enough of that sauce! The potatoes were cooked perfectly and could be easily cut with a fork.

We ordered a lemon blueberry dessert, but the server brought us cheesecake. I don’t usually like cheesecake, but we really needed to be heading home, so we didn’t say anything to our server.
I ended up loving the cheesecake! It was fantastic when drizzled with both the chocolate and strawberry sauce! Cheesecake is usually too dense for me, but this one was very light.

All in all we had a great dinner. It could have been a little better if we were provided with gloves (I hate getting my hands messy). I don’t know if they forgot to provide them or if we needed to ask. It wasn’t a deal breaker though so we just dug in. It was kind of fun :)

We’d definitely come back for more delicious food.

Service is great and food is exceptional! This was our first time eating here and we will be back. We ordered shrimp and sausage etouffee, Clam Chowder, and a Crab Cake Basket with crab meat fries (eat the crab meat fries with a fork). Seriously, really flavorful food and the seafood was cooked perfectly! We chose to sit and eat at the bar and the bar tender, Tyler, was amazing! Will ask for him again. The music is good as well and not too loud.

Update we came in this evening with the kiddos and ordered the same things as last time plus a appetizer that was super yummy! Wish I would have taken a photo of it. Loved our service from Tyler he does a really good job and we have enjoyed his service both times we have had him. He is on top of everything. We feel spoiled as we never need to ask for any refills on drinks. My family enjoyed the atmosphere and food again. Definitely was nice going during the middle of the week when it’s not as busy. We will be back! Thank you so much for a nice experience getting out together as a family.

Allie was an amazing server! Never once had to ask for a refill or anything. I don’t know who was the cook that night but hats off to you. The food was well seasoned and tasted absolutely delicious 😋! It was so good seeing our favorite sever Tyler that popped over to say hello. Not even surprised Tyler is a manager now.

Our first time there last night for my birthday dinner. The food is delicious. We also had the fried flounder,baby crab basket and shrimp basket. Delicious food. The place is very clean. Our waitress Josefina made our first experience amazing. Her first day working and she nailed it. She was very attentive and so welcoming. I would definitely go back there is she were working. Must try place!

Tyler, our waiter, was awesome! He was very friendly, attentive, and humble. He suggested the shrimp boil for our first time there, we also got the flounder po' boy with fries. It was all as delicious as he said it would be. The food was very flavorful and fresh. Strawberry cheesecake and beignets were wonderful! Atmosphere is pleasant! The eighties and nineties music even made us feel cool. Highly recommend this place and be sure to ask for Tyler in the Layton location!!

Tasty food with great ambience. I tried flounder which wasn't something I would order again, but my husband ate it, along with his meal and we had an appetizer plate of hush puppies, calamari and fried oysters which we loved. You can't go wrong with one of their desserts.

This is a great place to go if you like seafood and Cajun cooking. We went for an anniversary and got the meal for two and it was a lot of food. Erin was great for service and attentive but not overbearing in any way. The service was quick and the food was great!

I absolutely love Hook & Reel. The experience is always great and it is such a fun environment. Carresa was awesome. She was very nice to my whole family!! She made sure we had everything that we needed or wanted, even when we kept making her go back and forth to get us everything we wanted. If you go to eat here I hope you have carresa as your waitress. She is absolutely amazing!

Ex-Californians who miss Boiling Crab, rejoice!

I had Jenika (spelling) and she was very attentive and awesome. I got the snow crab special for $35 (1lb snow crab, .5lb head off shrimp), .5lb head on shrimp, their $4 strawberry daquri and $4 margarita. The drinks are solid at a great price. Theyre 1.5 ounce pours and evenly balanced. They have 3 spice levels... mild, spicy, and fire. Spicy is Asian jalapeño status, which was pretty spicy for me, but it was still flavorful. I might try mild next time... but I'll for sure not brave fire.

This location has lots of seating. Boil bag seafood is their specialty. They have daily specials. Service was good and friendly. I had a shrimp po which was tasty. we tried the crab fries which were an interesting treat. Soup was ok but could have been hotter
