I've tried this place out twice now, once for lunch, once for breakfast. It takes me 55 minutes to get here from my home in Granville, Ohio. The meatloaf was good but maybe not so much tomato base sauce on top in my opinion. The service at lunch was excellent. Breakfast, I had the breakfast bowl. It was delicious but with the gracious size of the biscuits maybe alittle more sausage gravy because it was alittle dry due to the lack of sausage gravy. The waffles were good but the little packets of butter are not enough to fill the sockets of the Waffles. Most people like waffles or pancakes smothered in butter so I suggest a medium plastic cup of softened butter to spread over waffles or pancakes instead of the annoying little dinky containers with the aluminum pull off lids that have very little value to a large waffles or pancakes since it takes so many. Overall the food was good and the owner is kind and seems to care, and gives good hugs. 😆 The gentleman at the cash register was very kind and engaging in conversation. I think I'll be back. ☺

Alright, so I am guilty of sleeping on this little gem in Canal Winchester. I'd like to offer a formal apology to the owner. I have lived behind this little diner for the last 3 years. This was my first experience. Epic fail on my part. I will continue to frequent this establishment for the foreseeable future.
The ambiance in the diner is cute and kitschy. My daughter and I decided to wait till lunch to go in for a late breakfast. She ordered the breakfast bowl (as on the menu) it was fantastic. Potatoes were definitely hand cut. Eggs were cooked properly and the dish was seasoned well. I decided to go with the chicken fried steak breakfast. The gravy was outstanding! Seasoned to perfection and shockingly not glue for being a half an hour before closing. We ordered the French toast to go and it was phenomenal.

Every town should be so fortunate as to have such a gem of a restaurant. Over my last several visits, the food has been consistently top-notch. The service staff are attentive and professional. I very much recommend.

I love this restaurant. It makes you feel like family. I had breakfast and the eggs were done to perfection. My friend had the Reuban with sweet potatoe fries. It was generous and she said very good. I can't wait to go back!

While back in Ohio for the weekend we found Canal Wigwam. We love the small farm town feel of this place. The service was spectacular and quick. The food was absolutely amazing!!! It is probably the best breakfast that I have had in years. They even gave me a discount because I did not need the potatoes or toast. No place ever takes care of people like that anymore.

We had the opportunity to speak to Teri (owner). Teri was so much fun. She took time out to welcome us and chat about life for a few minutes.

Let me tell you, if we could transplant the Wigwam to Hilton Head we would in a heartbeat.

Please come and support Teri and her efforts. You will not be disappointed!!!

Excellent place for a diner experience. We struggle to find family friendly, traditional diner atmosphere and menu selection. Canal Wigwam will be a place added to our short list of diners. We will enjoy visiting frequently in the future.

Nice greasy spoon for breakfast and lunch. Friendly atmosphere. The powdered sugar on the chicken and waffles was a surprising delight. Sunday special chipped beef over toast with two eggs and gravy was delicious. We will return.

Delicious Food Friendly Staff, Owners came out and greeted our family, we simply chose that restaurant on sight, to get together for a quick " catch up" lunch. Great Place will return next time we're in town.

I would love to recommend this nice clean and friendly restaurant to anyone. Melissa is an amazing person.
I would recommend however, not serving over easy, medium and hard eggs with a crust and discoloring from the grill. I noticed, most folks ordered scrambled eggs. It might be because of the condition of the over fried eggs they would be served.
If you love a great pancake, Belgian waffle or French toast, this is your place! Bring a sweater as well. Unless you sit back by the cook's area, you'll be cool. As well, your food will cool very rapidly. Give this restaurant a try. Worth the stop!

A friend and I ate recently [11-16-2023] at Canal Wigwam at 4 S. High St. in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

A group of us from Columbus had been planning to tour the Motts Military Museum [about five miles to the west in Groveport, Ohio] that same day during the early afternoon; my friend had suggested that he and I eat first at Canal Wigwam.

We missed the right turn onto N. High St. from U.S. Rte. 33 southeast [there may have been a missing sign at that intersection] so we had to go into Fairfield County and back [first on Diley Rd. and then on Hill Rd.] before reaching the parking lot for Canal Wigwam.

Entering Canal Wigwam had been like walking into the 1960s.That restaurant has been in continuous operation since 1899; it is clear that there is a lot of history there.

My food choice had been The Favorite Omelet [diced ham, mushrooms, onions, and cheese; served with home fries and toast]. That meal had been delicious and had been quite filling.

Taking photographs of the outside of the Canal Wigwam building had been challenging because the building immediately to the south [a former Chase Bank location] had been under construction and had been wrapped in blue plastic.

I remember having to press my head against the blue plastic so that would be able to be sufficiently far away from the front door of Canal Wigwam so that I would be able to include the entire front door in my photograph.

If you are in Canal Winchester and you are looking for some delicious food in a 1960s-style diner, I strongly recommend Canal Wigwam.

This is hands down my favorite place to eat in Canal. We had a few let downs when checking out the local food options but certainly not the Wigwam. The food is great, inexpensive, the fries are amazing, and most impressive is the staff. I was in there with my son making a take out order and I had 3 people ask if I’d like a drink while we were waiting, they were accommodating for the kids food which is great because my son is super picky, they were super friendly and our food was ready quickly. My only complaint is that i wish I could get dinner from there!!🙂

Well after going here for roughly a year now I'm finally getting around to a review. The hardest part of reviewing the Wigwam is everything good about this place has been written over and over. I just can't say enough about the place. The food is awesome. We've had probably half the menu and never a complaint. I like sitting at a table towards the rear and watching them cook my food. It's very interesting and there is some showmanship going on in there. The chef is a master of both presentation and taste quality at the grill. It's always been my opinion that you can't get real biscuits and gravy or chicken fried steak north of the Mason Dixon. WRONG!!!! The chicken fried steak here is some of the finest I've ever had. It's not my grama's but it's right there. The biscuits and gravy are proper and taste great. There's an art to making a biscuit that's light an fluffy and not heavy and uncomfortable. The Wigwam has it down to a science. I've never had a bad one. All in all if you've never been here, do your self a favor. Go and go hungry portions are good sized. Now for my favorite part, the pies. I had the good fortune of being able to buy a whole pie on one visit. I'm hooked. If you like the pie don't deprive yourself. Ask for a whole pie and it may be a few days as they are homemade by a ladies I believe is the owners daughter, and they are well worth the wait. I'm waiting for one right now. Apple crumb. Remember that. Try some or order a whole. It's heaven. We were just there yesterday but heck, it's sunday morning and I've made myself hungry. We're off to the Wigwam. Eat well folks! Try the Wigwam.

Visited this little restaurant over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. It's a cute little place that's been running since 1899 (?)very homelike feel and intimate. Reminded me of a little 50's diner. It was busy, but the service was good. The food was really great. Big portions for the price. And the employees were all very friendly.

this place is awesome. great food at a very reasonable price. I've traveled several states over the past 3 weeks and dined out quite a bit and I can honestly say this place rated number 1 of all the restaurants I've visited. I will be back when the opportunity arises.
