they dont spoon feed us. most of the kids don't even have higher than a 2.0 GPA. You take the classes that help better your future. the only problem is the bs they feed us about how they have no tolerance for bullying or harassment.

In my four years as a student at Shawnee High School, I came across a total of only four teachers who, I believe, put the students before all else. A few of the teachers have such a routine down that there is not a single thing that they change from one year to the next, which is just utter laziness. The majority of the teachers acknowledge that every student has a different way of learning, however they do not actually do anything to help the kids who learn differently than others; they still teach the exact same way they have for years without any variance. Most of the classes at this school are a complete joke that a lot of kids could get A's in without paying attention in class, which is nice to have on a grade card but does not actually help anyone learn. The school has one main focus: college/college credit, which is ironic because this school does not prepare their students for college in the slightest. First, let me say that I completely understand that teachers and schools are supposed to push their students to do all that they can to succeed in life, but this school forces college down everyone's throat. Students are not allowed to take certain courses unless they sign up through Clark State to receive college credit for that class. Don't get me wrong, getting college credit through high school courses is a great opportunity for kids to have. However, it should not be forced upon them, especially when they have to pay for the college class if they fail. Now back to my earlier point about how this school has no preparations for college. Even though I attended this school from age 14-18, I consistently felt like a young child by the way I was treated. Actually, I was treated like more of an adult my freshman year than I was my senior year because of the change of vice principals. My senior year, the school got a new vice principal who clearly had no idea what he was doing. He made a number of unnecessary changes to the rules. All through school, I have been a good student who has followed the rules, but for some reason I got in trouble numerous times my senior year for doing absolutely nothing wrong. This new vice principal changed the rules random times throughout the school year and expected us all to know the new rules without him ever announcing it first. He even decided, along with the help of some great teachers, that students had to wait in lines to go into the restrooms during lunch because we were only capable of having a couple people in the restroom at a time. Students were not allowed on their phones at any time during the school day, even during lunch and study halls, which makes little to no sense because college and post-high school is extremely technological. If someone had something school-related on their phone that they needed to check, a teacher would usually stand over them and watch them to make sure they weren't doing anything else on their phone. I only graduated two and a half months ago, but looking back, I cannot believe I was treated like such a child. The school dress code is another huge topic that I don't even want to get into because it's too ridiculous to even discuss. However, I will say that if the school spends more time trying to enforce the dress code than making sure the students are getting an education, something probably needs to change. All-in-all, there is not enough money in the world to make me go back to Shawnee High School, even for a week. I rated the school one star but only because I am not allowed to rate it with zero.

When you think Shawnee Local School district you would think that they would have an excellent learning program that is self paced and is help to the kids, you would think that Shawnee is sophisticated and would keep their main building clean and up to date, you would think all of that, Shawnee high school has a system of learning that force the GPA and testing down the kids throats and would leave out the average life lessons such as cooking, wood working, metal work, and so on so forth, between the time you transition grades you will notice that your IQ has dropped a few points, well that all is thanks to the "brilliant" staff who think they are doing right but are doing wrong, no a days Shawnee is refusing to discipline kids who do something they aren't supposed to. Hints the amount of students who leave Shawnee don't do anything. Now there are some students who will do students use what they learn when they leave. The amount of knowledge and power and you take that ratio and compare it to the power to weight ratio of a 2008 Jeep Compass, I would pretty much say the Jeep Compass has a better chance of using it's knowledge to a Shawnee student from the 2017-2018 school year.

This school sucks. They don't prepare their students for college. They spoon feed the kids with high gps's and leave the rest behind. Half the teachers are involved with sports and it's obvious that's more important than education. The math program is a complete JOKE. The heating and AC is virtually non existent yet the principle and those on top are knocking down six figures. The guidance councilor told me to reconsider my plans for becoming an engineer because they didn't think I could handle it. Well that's cool because I'm now a Biomedical Engineer working on my masters in Electrical Engineering for signal processing. The incompetent teachers teaching STEM related topics at this school should be FIRED. Your better off home schooling your kid!

This school has no intent of teaching you or if you have bad grades, doesn't help you try to get them up. The school is a complete joke.
