Battiste & Dupree Cajun Grill

Drove by many times and thought it was finally time to try this place out. Appetizers first with French Bread Bruschetta and Catfish Nuggets ... both very tasty but "heads up" that there is honey on the bruschetta in case you didn't expect a sweet flavor. I ordered the Seafood Gumbo, the wife had a Deluxe Seafood Po' Boy and the son had the Cajun Perch Dinner. Everything was great and the proprietor Steve was a gracious host.

Some of the best cajun cuisine I've EVER had, but certainly the best in Ohio, period. Small, but cozy with a mellow atmosphere, and the sole proprietor cooks, cleans, serves and will just make you feel like your at home! Can't say enough about this gem of a restaurant....

Outstanding food! Fish, chicken, red beans & rice, green beans, gumbo, jambalaya, po'boys, just everything!! You can't go wrong! Just be patient.... everything is prepared fresh so it takes time but absolutely worth the wait!!

I’ve been going to see Junior at Battiste and Dupree for my fix of Cajun for close to 15 years. This restaurant is my favorite of any I’ve been to anywhere. The food is amazing and Junior is a great host. Everything seems to be made fresh with the highest quality ingredients. Even though I’ve tried several of the places he recommends in New Orleans Juniors gumbo is still my favorite. Do yourself a favor and don’t pass up the opportunity to try this place and have a great Cajun meal.

My wife and I have been here often, and keep going back. The food is excellent, and authentic. Good portions, and well presented. It’s a small place, maybe 7-8 tables, so plan on chatting with the other patrons, since they will be sitting nearby.

Warning: Everything is made fresh, so don’t come if you’re in a hurry. Sit back, enjoy the company, eat well, and go home happy.

I rarely write reviews however, this food was incredible! I played it safe went with fried chicken and red beans and rice since this was my first time. I will be back! The red beans and rice were perfect. They were well seasoned (not salty) and a nice heat at the end.The fried chicken was crispy good flavor and freshly fried to order. I will expirement items off the menu in my upcoming visits. Those catfish nuggets sound and looked delicous😋😋😋

Wow, it blew us away. One man show and he was amazing. Real Cajun food and such a friendly atmosphere. Small and intimate. All of us patrons were talking with each other and no one had a bad thing to say. Highly recommend.

Food is made with style and care. Sometimes it's hard to find authentic elegance, but this place has it to great effect. Great place to relax, unwind and feel human. Somehow it's classic Heights and classic New Orleans at the same time.

Love this place. If you want some southern cooking or some creole Cajun food this is the spot to go. I drove past it for a long time always wondering how good it was. Finally stopped in and im glad I did. Junior is awesome. He's the owner and will take care of you like yall are family. Be careful about getting anything hot, some of his stuff packs some good ole Louisiana heat !!! The rum cake is unreal ! I def recommend trying that. Any dish on the menu you can't beat. Enjoy a good conversation with junior and the Mardi Gras themed restaurant while you wait for your banging food.

Amazing food. The owner/chef/waiter has an amazing talent for cajun food and takes pride on his work. This a great little place in The Heights area. My family will be returning again sometime soon.

We always have an incredible meal here! Junior is so sweet and puts so much love in every dish, you can literally taste how much he cares for New Orleans. This place is a gem!

Tonight was my boyfriend's birthday and he asked to go here for dinner. We had an amazing time. Our food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Junior was extremely hospitable. The food was authentic Cajun cuisine and the best I've had in Cleveland

Authentic cajun food. You could tell everything was prepared fresh and the guy there was so nice and attentive. Amazing experience. Small little place with a great atmosphere. I had the catfish with crawfish etouffee and was not disappointed. The mustard greens are on point and the fried zucchini is perfect. Will be going back.

I love this place!! The food is amazing!! Everything I've had here has delicious. You have to try the wings but honestly you can go wrong with anything. If you have a minute to stop in try the huma huma(don't stir it). Junior,the owner is the nicest man. He's personable, hospitable and numerous times has fed my husband and I after long work days and trying desperately to find a meal because it was so late. We will continue to enjoy eating here. He has love for what he does and puts care into eat plate that he serves. Enjoy a meal here and you won't be disappointed!!

Nice chill place to grab some cajun style food and a nice cold drink! Jr, the owner and cook is very hospitable. This place is decked out with pictures and items that make the environment feels like your in Louisiana and not Cleveland, until you step back out into the cold.

I ordered multiple dishes I don't eat meat and everything I ordered was great!! My mom ordered the beef rib dinner with mustard greens and coleslaw love them. The owner also supplies you with great customer service you cannot go wrong ordering here

General Jackson Chicken is amazing! Chicken and waffles are great and will make it hard to walk if you can eat it all. Cool southern beers.Awesome rum cakes. Please go eat here, your taste buds will thank you later.

Love this place! The atmosphere, owner/chef, and food are out of this world. Anything from the 'po boy and polish boys to the New Orleans shrimp or wings are just amazing. We love to introduce people to this place and tend to bring any out of towners here as well. Everything is made from scratch, so expect to stay a while, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Legit authentic gumbo the way I like it. Shrimp Po Boy was great. Portions are a little small and a little too salty. The owner is very cool and the vibe in the restaurant is quirky cool. Worth a visit.

Be prepared for an experince. Great food slow cooked. You spend time with Junior because you become family. Very intimate space. Not your typical bar scene type place. Recommend the Po Boy. General Jackson's chicken if you like hot.
