The Lariat

We’ve stayed in Buena Vista many, many times, and have always gone by this place—this time we gave it a shot. We waited a tad longer for service than we‘d like to (which seemed strange because the place was not busy), but the staff were polite, the atmosphere was comfortable and fun in a ‘historic’ way, and food and drinks were fabulous. The best part of our evening was hearing live music, courtesy of the lovely and talented Barb Maxey.

The staff here went above and beyond expectations. My family and I saw The Lariat as we drove into town we just thought it was a bar. We were walking by and one of the staff came out to greet us and our dog let me know they were a full service restaurant and told me the hours. Long story short we checked it out and it’s worth stopping in. It looked like there was two real dart boards and two billiard tables.

I went to the Lariat for a band. I had dinner first, ordering the rope burger. It was delicious with bacon jam and pickles. The breaded fries were fantastic. As for the concert, I heard many people comment on how good the sound is, and I agree. Top notch local bar and grill with great music coming through, amazing for a small town. Check it out.

Best burger !!!! The Rope Burger is super yummy 😋. The music was great , I loved the atmosphere, Service was okay, she spent more time concerned of my Boyfriend needs , than mine .... 😁

We hosted a wedding weekend welcome dinner in Nov 2023. JP and his team were great to work with! Food was great, service was gracious and it was the perfect venue for our party. Would recommend this as a great spot in Buena Vista!

So good. Baja tacos are amazing. The best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Service was excellent. We loved being here and wish we could have hung out longer. Can't wait to catch a live show here. We will be back.

Stopped in for a burger and beer after a hike. Food was good and so was service.

Also had live music, always a plus.

Hooray for an actual dog-friendly patio, not you tie up your animal outside of the patio and let them drink from a trough like they're horses. Great food, service, and sleek hipster updated vibe. We started with the pimento cheese dip (vegetarian) and crackers which disappeared quickly. The Cuban was a definite 7/10 comparatively to what you may receive in Tampa and the ahi tacos (gluten free)were perfectly seared with a light wasabi mayo accompanied by vegan (vinegar based) cole slaw as not to overdo the sauces. Delish, awesome all diet accommodations considered, well done! Large patio and shade from that hot desert sun. We visited a competitor after a Mount Collegiate hike and they wanted to leave our small pups outside of the patio, no bueno for well behaved dogs.

This place is awesome! Very good food for a reasonable price. I suggest the burgers, tacos, and chicken sandwich. The fries are the best especially because there fries in a batter.

The place is open late and has live music (at least today, lol).
They were very nice to me and my dog. The service is fast, the burger and drinks are good, what else do you need on Friday night? 😎

Fantastic food and great service! Our waitress was helping most of the restaurant and still made sure we had what we needed. Plus, the burger and coleslaw was fantastic and flavorful! Always a huge requirement in my book

I love this place. They always have life music going on. The food is amazing for bar food!! Drinks are good and not super pricey given that it’s a small mountain town.

I’m a local here in BV and my wife and I love this place. They bring in quality music for a reasonable price.

We ate here twice during a long weekend stay in BV. Fish N Chips, Fish Tacos and Chicken sandwich were all delicious. No greasy mess! Love their homemade sauces. The beer selection did not disappoint. The service was amazing! Maddy served us both times; she was so accommodating when our energetic doodle did not cooperate & we had to switch our order to take out.

Great environment. Free pool on Monday night. The bartender made this amazing Mashup cocktail. Big fan!

We found this place a little ways from our hotel. Town is small though which is great don't get me wrong. everyone is so nice. Food was delicious!!! It looks like they have bands come through very often unfortunately we came on a Sunday so there was no music, but they did have a pool table. Service and food were great!

Best dinner we had during our vacation.
Live music, full restaurant with excellent friendly service. We dropped a good amount of money but the menu was unique and fresh. You could tell the food was made fresh in house (including the ranch and fish and chips). Well worth it! Loved the pool table and dart board also.
