Found this takeout restaurant while on our way to the beach. We stopped and ordered POG juices, fried rice, hungry Hawaiian plate and of course their famous banana pancakes. For a Saturday morning the wait wasn't bad at all, maybe 15 minutes at most. The food was still warm when we got to the beach and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying them at least once if you are near there while visiting Oahu!

I was their first customer on December 27. Firstly, If you look around you realize you are in a real community neighborhood spot. A beloved restaurant situated within a loving community. Secondly, the service was so warm and friendly and welcoming. The wait time was brief and everyone was thrilled with their breakfast. Portuguese sausage was outstanding. Pancakes were slammin'! Loco Moco was terrific!! If you are looking for an authentic friendly place, this is a bit of a hidden gem, especially considering the area. Would highly recommend a stop here. I ate many places on the island-- including high end restaurants like at the Four Seasons etc. Hukilau Cafe was hands down my favorite!

We loved our food from the Hukilau Cafe! We ordered breakfast before going on a hike and it was super filling, delicious, and both dishes were very generous portions. We ordered the Hungry Hawaiian and the Veggie Breakfast with grilled potatoes. The service was great, they were very friendly and we will be going back when we visit in the future.

Five stars for Hukilau Cafe! We devoured a fantastic breakfast here this morning. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was a classic done right: fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, melty cheese, and all tucked into a perfectly toasted roll. The ham and cheese grilled sandwich was a symphony of savory ham and tangy cheese toasted to golden perfection. But the star of the show was the French toast. Light and fluffy with a touch of sweetness, it melted in our mouths. And let's not forget the breakfast potatoes! They were a revelation - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was a delight.

Hukilau Cafe is a must-visit if you're in the Laie area. The friendly staff, delicious food (especially those potatoes!), and relaxed atmosphere will leave you feeling happy and satisfied.

Budget friendly and tasty breakfast cafe and must recommend if staying in North shore. We grabbed omelettes, baked potatoes and grilled cheese. And everything was tasty and non oily. Very homemade feeling. Lovely folks at the front desk and the only sad part is that it’s take out only.

And yes this cafe name is the same one as the one in 50 first dates! We realized it later.

Great comfort food, unfortunately they no longer have a dine in option. A must stop when in the North Shore

Friendly folks and fast service. Pancakes were massive & so fluffy! We loved the chocolate chips! Bacon was very nice and crisp. 👌The dining area inside wasn't available but with all the beautiful beaches we didn't mind taking it to the beach picnic style. We loved everything about our breakfast. We witnessed a local man down on his luck that had received a free sandwich from the ladies here earlier that week -which speaks to the integrity of these folks in my book. Best wishes with the reno and future business! 🤙

Great local food spot. No frills just good local eats. You know this is a neighborhood spot because it's off the main drag. Good prices and good sized portions. Would definitely come again if I'm in the area.

5 stars for the service & food! We showed up at 11:15 thinking they closed at 2... and they close at 1130 on Saturdays, take out only after 11:30. They were incredibly kind. I had the beef stew eggs & tried the moco loco, both were great!

Food was decent. Bacon could've been a bit crisper, my toast was also forgotten, still was given jam though oddly enough.

Edit:. Last day here, I thank you for the quick response. Clearly you care very much for your establishment. I appreciate the offer.

Local eats a very reasonable prices (bargain). Waitress was very nice. She explained this is the place where 50 First dates derived the name for their cafe, but the film was filmed onset elsewhere. Our waitress gave our daughter a plumeria flower and fanned our daughter to keep her cool.

Their moco loco was delicious! Their pancakes were also very good. At the moment they only do take out, but it is a great opportunity to eat the food by the beach!

Awesome place to get really good breakfast and a lot of it. They used to only take cash, but now they take card transactions, too. They only do take out and can get kind of busy so plan ahead and get there on the early side.

We came here for lunch (just missed breakfast) and a few days later for breakfast. The hukilau burger was really good as was the Loco Moco. The Loco Moco did lack seasoning a bit, but was great with salt and pepper.
The coconut pancakes were very good. I only wish they had coconut syrup as well. Don't skip out on the spam and Portuguese sausage with your breakfast. Both were delicious.

This place has the most delicious breakfast and a friendly staff at 6:30am. We ended up coming back every day they were open. Its a little hidden and well worth the search.
