Petersburg City Treasurer

**Thank you, Mr. Pritchett for taking the time to speak with me today about the situation with my issue.**

Mr. Kenneth Pritchett, City Treasurer was very kind and sympathetic to what has happened to me. The City of Petersburg need more people like him, He actually made me feel like my needs were important and didn't try to rush me off the phone even though I called the wrong office. He listened to what I had to say, addressed my issue and offered help.

01/09/2023 I work for an attorney's office handling real estate, I have called the Treasurer's office at least 3 times in a week on this one file. No one answers the phone, not an answering machine, not a human, how do I leave a message? I truly need help with the delinquent amounts prior to the closing.

No one ever ever answers the phone! Over ten minutes on hold and all I get is "your call is very important to us. Please wait for the next available agent!" Very poor customer service when visiting in person. Never greeted with a smile. Its as if they don't want to be there to assist. We deserve better from our public servants after all its our tax dollars paying their salaries. Fifteen minutes forty-seven seconds, still no one has picked up. I'll continue to hold!! My one star rating IS way too high!

Moved here two years age and I concur with all of these low rating reviews. Being billed for late charges on bills paid in full. Not anyone to refer to to get real answers. Amazing when you do visit their offices,you confront people who respond as if you're the problem. Whole town needs investigating

All management from the mayor down should be fired and replaced immediately. This city has terrible leadership! City treasurer’s office does not answer the phone, return calls, or return emails. How does this city function when it can’t even collect taxes correctly?

Trying to get in touch with some is darn near impossible. The voicemails are full and all you received is someone's recording telling you to call someone else, that is not available. However the city does not mind charging the citizens late fees, when they are the problem, when no one can reach them to discuss an issue. #wegottodobetter

They owe me a year of real estate tax money. My mortgage company was paying along with my payments. They were getting double payments for 2020.
I stopped by on May 7th of 2021 to get a refund for 2021 but they never mentioned the additional payments in 2020.
Petersburg is hurting for money and it's starting to show.

Charged for property tax and I didnt even live in the state at the time. I was not upset. I went there to explain what happen and to get my refund. The staff was rude. Nobody could tell me what was going on. I had to get upset to make the staff give me the correct form to get a refund. Its been about 3 months and i still have not received my refund.

They don't answer the phones. They do not return calls. They do not respond to emails. You have to literally pay a visit. Long lines and very unprofessional. No clarity whatsoever about my real estate taxes. Had to wait for a long time. There is only a hour parking. This place needs to upgrade the systems, the phone calls and their customer service. Everyone that was there when was complained of all of the above. I just moved to Petersburg and this is extremely ridiculous. Never seen anything like it. Its 2018 not 1820. UPGRADE!!!!!!

System is flawed no one answers the phone, which is an inconvenience to military personnel that are no longer in the state of Virginia. If you do get through there's someone on the other end rude huffing and Puffing.

Awful and outdated. What year are they in currently? Why do I have to come in person to pay a bill? I don't care if its collections or not. Thank god I moved back to Maryland where it makes sense. They're a joke. And they should fire website designer; I thought it was 2003 looking at the site.

No way to contact personnel by phone and email responses are none: Rather in the state of Virginia or living in a different U.S. State, let alone County, you have to go directly to the Treasurer's Office and hopefully accomplish the task at hand. Never seen anything like this Citywide.

The offices in this city should fire every single one of these worthless overpaid people. Will not return phone calls. Absolute disgrace to the city.

How is the mailbox full already and every time you call?!?!? I am being charged property tax for the second year in a row and I don't even live in Virginia anymore! Thieves! Still haven't gotten refund back from last year either smdh!!!

No one responds to emails or voicemails. Time to contact the State! They need to be investigated!!

No one EVER answers the phone. I mean NEVER. Plus when you go there in person everyone is so SLOW. Petersburg has one of the HIGHEST tax rates in the entire state. Just awful.

The city of Petersburg needs to be audit by the Federal Government in DC......AGAIN. their way of billing the citizens is very inconvenience, and they need some schooling of how to run accounting & finance office, some younger eyes, that don't forget their glasses.

Terrible . How is the operator's mailbox be full and put in person's last name and saying call can't go through. This is more than once!!! Smh.

Citizens should not have to get a 'mail box is full' message when calling. Really? Email does not get answered either. Guess I'm going to pay a visit.
