The visitor center had a fantastic short movie to watch, along with some very informative exhibits.

Start the driving tour from there - lots to see including 'The Crater.'

Love learning about history, this place has many stories to tell. If you get on the " we'll marked " trails the experience is much more interesting.

I love this park. I ride my bike here often as it is only 5 min from the house. There are about 13 miles or so of gravel and trail available for horses, hikers, and bikers.

First stop was the visitor center to get a map of the Battlefields and watch a short film about the siege here and the battle of the crater. It was very informative. There is a small museum at the center and a gift shop. Restrooms adjacent to visitor center. Then off for the self guided tour of the battlefields. We went by car. Others walked or rode bicycles. There is signage at the various battlefields and many trails to follow. Just knowing what happened where we were standing in the crater was humbling. I was glad we stopped here on our way back north from Florida.

I love history, even tragic history. We visited this park years ago, but the visitor center was closed. I'm glad it was open this time. The park ranger/guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The driving tour was easy to follow.

Staff at the visitors center was very helpful and knowledgeable. This place was so nice to walk around and see all the history. There is so much to see and walk through here it amazing. I love how they’ve preserved what they could and have started to fix some of the things falling apart. Would definitely recommend stopping by and checking them out if you have the time. We only had time to make it through the east half but are going back tomorrow to finish the west half.

This park, like so many others, has so much history to see.The Dictator, the largest cannon used in the war, can be seen by walking the grounds at the visitors center. There is also a driving tour with good directions available. Be sure to take the crater trail.

What amazing history. The rangers are very well educated and can answer any questions. The cannons were amazing. The trail was clean. Its just an amazing peice of history. Even for a quick stop. My kids enjoyed learning about the history. Taking just a moment to admire, appreciate, and respect the sacrifice that was taken for our country to move toward equality. Highly recommend.

Great place! A very important battle that was fought here and one of the turning points of the Civil War. Didn't get to see any of the trails but I hope too soon, as I've heard they are nice. Gift shop was a little pricey but that's to be expected. I'd suggest checking to see if there are any closures though, as when I visited the main road throughout the park was closed and I had to walk across it.

An amazing place! Stretching over 4 miles, it is a drive to 8 different sites where you can get out and walk each site. It took us about 3 hrs to visit. Visitor center video explains the history.

Excellent sites of the battle. The visitors center has an 18 min video about the battle, exhibits, and books/movies available for purchase.
There's a driving trail taking you along each of the battlefields, equipped with informative information about the battle.

I decided to visit this place as part of the "Interest n History " I've been going thru lately. It was a nice day to walk and soak in the quiet scenery that told its own tales. During a time when solitude can mean the difference between life and death, this place puts a more tangible touch living as a whole. The fact that alot of whats there is ORIGINAL ....is mind blowing.

Lots to see and do. There are a few short hikes and a small museum in the visitor center. If you aren't a hiker you can take the dive and stop at the 8 or so observation spots. Glad I was able to stop and see it.

This National Park site has a great interpretive center and driving tour. Lots of easy walking trails and great interpretive signs to follow and learn about the drive of Petersburg. Definitely worth the stop to visit one of the most important points in our nation's history. There is even a fun dress up area in the Eastern Front visitor center for kids to feel the union and Confederate uniforms.

Was passing by during my travels and decided to take a brief tour of the battlefield. One of the best collections of cannons I have ever seen. Make sure you visit the site of the Crater. Interesting story and piece of history.

Beautiful historic site. Alot of memorable displays and fascinating artifacts which dates back to the civil war.

For the weekend warrior there are plenty of horse trails and bike trails to ride. Nice jogging paths and plenty of places to walk around.
