We need more businesses like this! Very friendly and professional! This is what Amrican owned businesses should be! Rooms are up to date and has everything you need. The shower is very Nice and has plenty of hot water and very Nice pressure. Free clean rooms as well. Short block walk to the beach front. My wife and I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend! 👌

Let me start from the exact beginning. Driving up you see the BAY INN sign and as you get closer I started thinking what did I do. It's a very unusual looking front which really gives no sense it's an actual decent place to stay. I pulled upfront. The check in process is fast and simple. Parking around back is limited but no issues. You see through the walk tunnel it begins to open up and actually it's a very nice peaceful feeling environment. Honestly well thought out with seating areas and it's like it's own hidden relaxing place right between the rooms.Really no indication from the front street what's behind the walls. The rooms are on the smaller size but let me stress this it is perfect size for everything it seems to be recently renovated or no one irresponsible gas damaged anything yet. Very quite pleased place at night also. Sufficient water heater shower stays hot. The spacing is perfectly set up for 2 people or like me a child and a adult I can not speak for other rooms but honestly it is a very nice place very well set up and very friendly environment. I'm actually surprised by this hotel and it's literally easy access to the public beach. Great place to get away from the noise and sounds that are normal in most all other locations. I did not even smell smoke weed or any annoying smells here. No bugs no roaches at all no ants no any creatures that is a plus. It is not set up like other places but once you settle in you'll see is a nice place. Thumbs up location I see why it's the top rated location around here .

Small privately owned. They have done a great job renovating an old motel. Very clean, well maintained, decent beds. It is NOT a luxury hotel but it is also not at luxury pricing. I usually stay at places like HI express or Hamptons because you have a better chance of getting a decent experience. We took a chance here and we're extremely satisfied. Can't beat it for the price and we would definitely have no problem staying again or recommending to family or friends.

Great little motel. Very clean really quiet no road noise. Super sweet owners going out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. We will stay again when we come back to town.

Nice, simple rooms in a quiet location. The check in was quick enough and the man at the desk worked with me knowing I was going to be leaving earlier than a time they would be available at… my only real recommendations would be to fix the blinds in the room I was in. Just because it was missing a blind in the bathroom which felt a little awkward showering with. And maybe putting a heavier shower curtain. The pressure kept pushing the curtain out and wasn’t keeping water from getting on the floor. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay and if I’m ever in the area again I would come back.

This location is listed as a 2-Star Hotel. As an active duty Military member, who has travelled 48 states and 20 different countries, I would have to agree. 2-Star Hotel, with a 5-Star experience.

This place is one of the last bastions of "Family owned, Family operated"! The amenities are as you would expect from a 2-star hotel. Mini-Fridge, Firm but soft bed, Sink, Shower and vanity with a coffee maker.

Here is what you won't expect:
It is evident that the owner and wife have spent their time remodeling, refurbishing and putting their soul into this place.

The wifi is fantastic, the turn down service is amazing, the welcoming and warming atmosphere is wonderful and the location to multiple cafes, diners, and fast food joints is superb. 1 block walk to the Atlantic ocean. Dry cleaner, laundry mat, food, post office you name it is in walking distance. I was transient for 2 months while stationed here, I've stayed here multiple times, and it is the best hidden gem I could find. And because it is Family owned, the personnel that are allowed here are registered and filtered by the host. Its the best "Bed and Breakfast" without the breakfast you can find. While staying here on the weekends, I've invited friends. When they finally stayed here, they said "Why did I just now find out this place was here?"

Reasonably priced. And the owners are always willing to accommodate.

I WILL RETURN AGAIN! If I am in the Norfolk area.

I spent 5 nights here with my 6 yr old son and the stay was great. Clean room, super clean bathroom👌🏾 and the mini fridge/microwave combo was great for warming up left overs. My son enjoyed the modern mirrors with halo lighting and I enjoyed the complementary coffee every day. Would definitely come back again.

This place was great! So close to the beach, perfectly clean rooms, and an excellent price point! The owner seemed super nice, had a more matter of fact demeanor which I guess some other reviewers interpreted as rude? But I get anxious easily so I really appreciated the clear, concise instructions when it came to parking, finding the room, wifi, and smoking areas. Overall we had an excellent stay and would absolutely love to stay here again!

Very nice place! We had a queen size bed room. It was very clean and I could tell the decor has been updated so it was very modern looking. We were on our way to Dover from Georgia to visit our kids and grandkids. It was one block from the beach access and two blocks to the Dairy Queen. It was nice to stretch our legs with a walk on the beach after the long drive. This morning it is a short drive to get on the bay bridge tunnel going to Dover. I will definitely stay here again!

My experience last night with The Bay Inn was wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, and I felt right at home. This is a hidden gem for sure and you'll notice in the details. From the nice mirrors, to the fact you're given plates in the room (made microwaving easy, rarer that you might think!), and the short and nice walk to Norfolk's Ocean View Beach Park, the little things add on to make this a memorable stay. Will definitely stop by here again.

I don't know if there's enough space in this review to write all the wonderful things about this hotel. It is so quaint and peaceful. When you see it from the road it doesn't do it justice to the beautiful courtyard that's in the middle of this hotel. The owner and his wife are INCREDIBLY sweet & accommodating. The location is perfect located right across the street from Ocean view Beach. It's a prime location to anything you might need as well. Thank you so much for the incredible stay!

We are 1c of c the thousands that got screwed by United Airlines. The Bay Inn made sure to b help us through the delays, yet made sure we still had a room. The owner and his wife are easy to task too and friendly.
The rooms have all been remodeled. If you have been around as long as we have we know this style of hotel. The rooms are nice. Could not hear our neighbors.
Don't let the exterior fool you, this is a room.
The little courtyard is well maintained and great place to chill with a beverage.

The owners are incredibly kind and personable. The room is a great size for 1-2 people. It was one of, if not the, cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Bathroom was nice, the mirror had internal lighting. The price was amazing for how quiet the area was and the beach access. I don't know if life will bring me to Norfolk again, but if it does I'll definitely stay at the bay inn every time.

This place is absolutely amazing. Great lil quiet spot right off the beach for a great price. The rooms are so clean and beautiful and have everything you need. There is an outside area for smoking and it has patio furniture and beautiful plants. The owners live on the property and are just a joy. it's Within 5 miles of alot of great food. Definitely booking here the next time I'm in town ‼

Room was clean and well kept. Nice size bathroom and shower. We stayed over one the hottest weekends in July and we're late checking in, around 8:00 PM. The owner thoughtfully had already turned on the air conditioning and the room was nice and cool when we arrived. He was also very helpful with restaurant suggestions as well as local sights and venues. We would definitely stay here again. A small home town feel to the place.

This place seemed a bit sketchy when we drove up in the dark, but this was the best inn I have visited in a long time. The room was small but impeccable. The bathroom was cleaner than mine at home. I swear there wad not a speck of dust or sand anywhere in the entire place. The staff was super friendly and recommended an excellent place to eat (A World of Good).

Came to visit our son at the naval base, had a bad experience at another facility. Did a quick Google search and saw the good reviews for The Bay Inn. Made the reservation while sitting in the car in the parking lot, went inside and a minute later the owner had our reservation pulled up and fulfilled. Super nice people, newly updated and immaculate rooms with a beautiful courtyard including outdoor seating. Thank you for giving us a safe and clean place to stay!

Owner (and his dog) are so welcoming and friendly. There is a nice courtyard in between all of the rooms with chairs for guests to sit and hang out. Our room was clean, quiet, had a fridge, microwave, coffee pot. They provide new towels/ some light room service every day. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and is so clean. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Let me start off by saying I am a 5 star hotel kind of woman but my husband and I booked this hotel for the price and the positive reviews since we were only breezing through. Check in was a breeze. The person who checked me in did not greet me with a smile however he was professional and very specific about parking and the location of the room. The hotel rooms were nice, clean and accommodating. My husband complimented the vanity mirror which sits outside the bathroom. He says we need to get one for ours at home. You can tell the rooms were smartly renovated. The only thing I did not like is there was no insulation vent or fan in the bathroom. When you go in the bathroom you have to leave the door open with it being so hot and closed in so the A/C unit in the room can cool you off. I did not make it to the beach because I came down on business but I can speak on the location which was very quiet. There is no pool at this hotel and I didn't notice an ice machine or a vending machine but the rooms did have an abundance of soaps and towels, there was a coffee machine with tea and coffee samples, microwave, refrigerator and a flat screen tv with cable and YESS, they have wifi! If you want affordability and a quiet clean location near the beach, I highly recommend booking at this hotel. I personally would book here again if I was visiting Virginia Beach.

I spent two nights at the Bay Inn. I was impressed start to finish with the owners (very nice and accommodating), cleanliness, comfortable bed and renovated room - modern and pleasing. The shower head actually had pressure! The beach was one long block away and easily accessible and quiet. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will book this location again the next time I'm in the Norfolk area for tennis tournaments I play there. Also - great restaurants within 15 minutes any direction.
