What a great store. Being from the Mtn of nc I was super surprised to see such a well put together outdoor store in middle of state. Enjoyed my time at store talking to Chris and the guys. Def the go to for around this area for outdoor equipment and clothing!

Super helpful guy in the fly fishing section was knowledgable and very helpful in showing me what flies I should use, and where are good spots in the area. Very kind and helpful staff.

I was very pleased with the service and help finding the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL 3. Also, they gave me a better deal on it than REI for Labor Day sale. We used it on the AT for 6 days. Super lightweight and easy to put up and break down. Only 2 lbs. 10oz. They also carry the Bear Vaults in all sizes. We used The BV 500. Which was able to carry all the food and double as a stools to sit on around the campfire. They have collapsible coffee mugs and bowls. And food you just add water to. I was able to find just about everything I needed for this hike. I highly recommend Great Outdoor Provision Co for all your hiking needs!

I purchased a Bonafide RS 117. The staff were very helpful and informative. This is a high end outdoor store, but they have Kayaks in everyone’s price range. It’s wonderful to work with such helpful people!

Awesome store for outdoor supplies. Came in for two pieces of climbing-specific gear and got exactly what i needed. As a bonus the person that helped us was a climber (David) and showed us an easy way to tie a safe anchor with the rope we bought! I love this store and would recommend it to anyone in the area!

Love the store since they finished updating the inside. They have a wonderful selection of 🧥outerwear, down jackets, 🥾boots, hiking sandals, equipment and socks for any season or sport. They also have great products for travel like wicking clothes and storage for long hauls. They also have ♿ handicap accessible parking, entrances, and a restroom.

This place is awesome. All the staff there is very helpful. Ward in particular is awesome and has helped me way more than he needed to with a kayak issue I had. If you need any outdoor gear or a kayak I wouldn’t buy anywhere else but here!

Im just getting into backpacking and am new at all this. Came in looking around and was met with really friendly staff and awesome information and tips. Left with a brand new sleeping bag and some notes on staying warm on cold nights and the difference between down and synthetic fill, and then was sent off with a “have fun with it!” One of my favorite outdoor stores I’ve ever been to and will definitely be coming again.

The employees at GOPC truly went above and beyond to ensure I had a lovely experience. Their gear selection, prices, and honest knowledge of gear helped me walk away knowing I made a great decision shopping in their store today. 10/10 recommend!

Ward and his associates were very helpful with my recent order of canoe repair equipment. They kept me appraised as to the status of my order and helped all along the way even helping to secure the bulky item to my car for transport. Each time I visit this store I find the staff to be knowledgable and helpful. I'll definitely be back.

This is a great store to get outdoor gear! The staff are super friendly and helpful and give great recommendations for products. The selection isn't as wide as a place like REI, but they have all the top outdoor gear brands and a good selection of earth-friendly clothing!

I've been coming here for years, this is one of my favorite places to shop for hiking, kayaking stuff. The people who work here are phenomenal, and always willing to help with questions (alot of which they had no obligation to answer, like tips for camping and hiking locally). I can bring my dog in, and a feel comfortable knowing I'm getting good products.
My only complaints are prices are pretty high, but you could say that of just about anywhere nowadays. And for supporting a local business who helps people get outdoors responsibly, I don't mind it. And sometimes they don't have all the brands and all the gear I'd like to get (hyperlite, Hennessy hammocks, a few others), but for being a small local shop, I feel they do extremely well.
I'll shop here anytime I need outdoor gear.
Edit: to all the cry baby's who are complaining about having to wear a mask, walk on. It's a minor inconvenience that could potentially save lives, and is mandated by the state. You're putting employees and their families at risk by not complying. It's interesting how people have made a global pandemic into a national political issue somehow. I really appreciate great outdoor following through on this policy, and will continue to support them.

I started whitewater paddling when all kayaks were made with fiberglass just before the advent of rotomolding and plastic boats. I am still paddling after all those years. Through that time,
there have been a handfull of people I have known that I would describe as experts in the field of paddling. Ward Swann of GOP Winston is one of those people.
Not to mention buying plural boats, rack systems, and various kayak equipment from him through the years, I have benefited from his knowledge of this great sport of ours. I've never found that on Amazon.

Awesome employees.! I went in looking for one thing and came out with a creative idea better than what I planned on purchasing. Multiple staff members were very helpful and super aware that school teachers are always reaching out for the students. Over the years, this employee friendliness is consistent. This time, they outdid themselves.

I had a perfect experience here. I went to buy some hiking shoes for an upcoming hike. I did a little research, but the sales person was extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I got the perfect shoes for a good price. They ended up performing exactly how I needed them to on the hike. Definitely going back.

Staff is always so helpful! Shopping yesterday for hammocks and a sleeping bag, which we needed to keep within a budget. They talked through our needs and then pointed us to a great quality bag on sale for 40% off - and we were still well under budget. So appreciative of a sales staff that takes the time to really understand your needs and help you find the best gear for your needs, weighing the pros and cons of each option against anticipated use, budget, etc.

Knowledgeable staff, great selection. I love that they demo thier kayaks and you're not stuck with a boat you don't like. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking to purchase a kayak or any other outdoor gear.
