Onesto Pizza & Trattoria

While wandering around St. Louis, I found myself around the hill and thought Italian thats what I wanted for dinner. And could I remember the name of the place a friend told me about? "Onesto!" I shouted in my car, and I was off. Onesto is a small Italian place nestled in the Princeton Heights neighborhood; it is completely surrounded by residential houses. While I walked up, I was greeted by a little Sinatra and a smiling hostess. She led me right to a small table by a window, perfect for gazing out into the street. A small plate of garlic knots magically appeared and were just about right, lots of garlic, butter, and salt. Might had scarfed down the whole plate before drinks, and like magic, more appeared. I had the house sangria, which I can't remember what it was, but it was very tasty. Then the waitress took my order. I had the cannelloni, which was stuffed with beef and pork in a tomato cream sauce and topped with mozzarella. It was delicious. It came with an overflowing Caesar salad and more garlic knots. After that wonderful meal, I was too full for dessert and headed home. Overall, great little Italian place, food hit the spot, and the service was great.

Probably the most authentic pizza place I have been to in St. Louis. When you walk in you have a perfect view of pizza dough being spun and tossed in the air. The seating area has an upscale casual feel too it. There were white table clothes and plenty of windows to let in all the natural light. If you go at the right time you'll catch a perfect sunset while you chow down.

You receive complimentary garlic knots while they go over the daily specials. We went for the pomegranate sangria, not hesitating to go for the pitcher. The staff seemed pretty cool, I actually wanted to be all their friends.

They offer pretty tasty sounding house favorite pizzas, including true authentic Neapolitan style. We went for pepperoni, Italian sausage, sundried tomatoes, and basil. The sausage really was Italian, not just pork with Italian seasoning on it, and the basil was fresh.

We came for the pizza, but couldn't resist a stromboli as well. They make a BBQ sauce in house so we went for the chicken BBQ stromboli. It was a lot of bread, but also generously stuffed on the inside. Besides who goes to a pizzeria not planning on eating lots of bread? So dough it up and try a stromboli with that pizza.

I came in with high hopes for this place and I was not disappointed. So next time you're craving pizza consider stopping by and seeing for yourself.

*Side note*
We were there right before the dinner rush started to show up on a Saturday. It looks like they fill up fast, but they have a cozy front patio with a fire pit if you end up having to wait a minute.

The portion sizes were great, the arancini had a soft inside and crispy outside and were DELICIOUS! The toasted ravioli were wonderful and my wife couldn't get enough of the meatballs. Our server was fun, informative and attentive! We will definitely be back!!

The tiramasu alone is worth a stop!

We were in the mood for pizza and found Onesto. What an awesome find. The garlic knots are like crack! I could just eat those all day! We had a salad, pizza and the sangria of the day. The salad and pizza were both delicious. The crust had the perfect crunch. The sangria was yummy.
We will definitely go again and bring friends and hang out on their patio.

The place was a little dark and dingy. Food was good, but nothing too special. The drinks were good. Probably a good option if you’re in the area and need a bite but wouldn’t suggest going out of your way.

The service was great! The food was wonderful! My hubby had the Big Italian w/ fries and a salad. I had a salad and pepperoni calzone. Of course we had the garlic knots too! 😉 We love Onesto because the food is good, the service is great and the sangria is usually really tasty!

I hadn't been here in several years and was really excited to go back. Everything was fantastic!! The food was great. The service was great. Keep up the good work everybody!!! See you soon.

Went for valentines day. A+ treatment from the wait staff and a semi classy place too. Loved everything about it.
I can only speak about the pizza as that's all we had. It's not stl thin cracker style. More of a doughy NY style pizza. Its chewy. Too much bread for my taste but some will love this. The cook tosses the dough in the air right there infront of everyone so that's cool. I got the gut buster. Our waiter described it as "piled high" with toppings as there are so many toppings on that pizza. No it's not piled high. The ingredients were diverse and numerous but the pizza had no more weight than my wife's veggie pizza. So sparse amount of numerous ingredients is the better description. But hey, it was good pizza and a classy joint and I still give it 5 stars.

Wow! Loved Onesto. The food was delicious especially the chicken risotto. They have a different risotto every week. The sangria was great. Did not realize they were famous for the sangria. It's located in the middle of the SOHA South Hampton residential area and has a wonderful neighborhood vibe. Large outdoor mostly shaded patio and great decor inside. Will be back for sure.

I picked up a to go order for a large BBQ chicken and spinach pizza. Happy to report they were super busy on a Saturday night - so make a reservation if you're dining in or be sure to order ahead if you want to pick up around dinner time. Both pizzas were a hit - cheesy, but not too cheesy. Fresh ingredients, still super high quality ingredients (i've noticed other restaurants skimping but not here!) plenty of toppings. I'll be back!

Perfect summer night outdoor dining. Food was excellent. Known for their thin, hand tossed pizza and their sangria.

Returned. Ate inside (101F). Smoked prime rib Sunday special! Chicken Parmesan. Yum!

Cute little place. It was busy, but was able to get a seat right away. Known for their sangria specials. They have daily specials which rotate. Food was great and made with quality stuff. Definitely worth a try!

Pesto in the house pizza is phenomenal (pictured). Really great choices if you like chicken on your pizza. The vibes are cozy, and the staff was excellent. I can't wait to go back.

Everything we received was delicious! The gluten-free Mad Cajun pizza was CRAZY yummy, and the Chopped Italian Salad was filled with toppings and with salad dressing on the side per our server's offering, we were thrilled! What a GORGEOUS patio and a very cool inside. We especially loved the music carried on the ample breeze on the evening we ate there; the volume was perfectly adjusted allowing conversation and enjoyment of the outdoor street corner ambiance. I felt I had been transported back to Paris. Gorgeous, simple, easy setting while feeling upscale and beautiful. We WILL be back!

I loved the service even though they were understaffed. We really enjoyed our meal and didn't feel rush at all. The salad was amazing that I forgot to take a picture. They have an Italian rice croquettes that were made with rissoto, perfectly cooked.
Bread was fabulous 😍🤩 and I got the cannelloni which was a decent portion but the very best the cherry on the cake was the Tiramisu which I didn't feel guilty eating it.
Very small and casual place really worth to try it again.
I would love to see a classic Bolognese, caccio e peppe or a classic carbonara.
Again worth to go there.

A quaint little neighborhood restaurant with amazing food! The Stromboli are phenomenal and very “light” for a traditionally heavy dish. Outside, inside and private dining spaces are available as well. Overall, a must try in St. Louis!

First time here and let me say that the garlic knots are going to end you lol.
Endless garlic knots, pizza is huge and delicious and just a very calm, relaxing feel to the place. We sat inside, but definitely want to experience the outdoor patio next time, especially since the weather is cooling off.
My only gripe was our waiter was the opposite of attentive, we watched 4 other tables get served before we even got our drinks, which I had to call him over to have him go get em. He was very awkward and just uncomfortable vines from him. But won't let that deter me from coming back.
Great food and decent prices

Was an excellent time, great service, great vibes and most importantly great food! I got the steak, mushroom and zoodles! My gf got the veggie stack which she enjoyed as well! Cant forget the complimentary garlic knots!

First time here. Delicious! Great atmosphere, great staff. Everything was amazing, the salad, the bread, the wine, the specials.
