Old Mill Spring (Sunken Garden)

Old Mill Spring is another great place to visit if you're in the area. There's also an endangered salamander that calls this natural spring home. The sunken area looks like a hidden garden during the summer months.

Best place in town. Unfortunately homeless have bathed in it over a period of about 20 years until recently when the us gov put a barrier fence up to keep all out..now it's a federally protected site. Before this time ...we respectfully came here to the old Mill spring to get relief from the hot Texas sun. U could lay in a waterfall and let it massage your back and neck ..it was heaven! In the 1800s this was the local Old Mill spring and cotton hemp grains were milled here

As a Native Austinite, this is my favorite place to come soak in the cool spring water. Please don't come here, as I hold this particular spot sacred, and dear to my heart. 😉🙌😘

It's beautiful when you are there and the sun is coming up or going down.

Special spot. I’ve been coming here for years. Kinda over run with off leash dogs sometimes.
