Akron-Summit County Public Library

A beautiful library with kind staff. Came from out of town for the eclipse but was surprised by the open spaces and accessibility. Staff was very friendly. Akron is lucky to have such an amazing library for its citizens.

This is where I spent most of my childhood. It’s three floors, very spacious, very clean. Their auditorium is basic and beautiful. The kids sections is cute and put together. The people are helpful and nice. They always have an event going on so I signed up to get emails every now and then. Overall a very nice place filled with beautiful memories

Love this library! Staff is always friendly and helpful, and the speed at which my online reserve requests are available for pick up at the drive-through window suprises me every time! Keep up the great work!

This library has great accessibility, conference center , and many many more options , place looks superb ! The city of Akron has done a great job putting together this great building ! You can find old maps from the city ! From the best Cd music collections I’ve ever seeing!! They have a huge variety of very rare books ! To the best on technology! I tell ya !! And I kid you not ! They have even 3 D printers that you can use and Learn how to operate them , you have to make reservations for sure ! The people who work there are great help , it’s always a pleasure to visit the place , several floors where you can read any book with peace and quiet ! Tons of resources at the library , even small concerts and art galleries there , where they show local artists all the time ! The library is a gem 💎 🛴🛴🛴🛴🎹🎹🎹🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 you can park for free for about an hour at the parking deck ! But always check that was about 2 years ago . They offer GED classes , computer classes and a variety of activities for all ages ! If you are looking for a specific book that isn’t in the inventory , they ordered for you . It’s free to get a library card . The views inside of the library are magnificent! You can read a book and look the city around you . This is a must when you are in Akron ! Accessibility is the key , route 8 and 76 interstate very near ! Downtown Akron is growing in popularity, have patience ! The city is improving a lot on building new boutique hotels , local coffee shops ! And of course Lebron James might show up one day ! Who knows ! He usually visit the city ! There are always events at the library free to the public ! I hope you enjoy ! You can be without mask inside , but as always they recommend keep your social distance , this is already a relax set up , since has been almost 2 years from the Covid stuff !! Enjoy the city ! And have fun !

Great place to spend some time or take the kids on a rainy day. Very large library. Three floors. And the children's section is separate from the rest of the library.
The staff was very helpful and listened to my son's stories.
Plenty of places to simple crash and dive into a book!

This place rules, especially if you like books on music history. HUGE selection. Could spend all day here. The staff is awesome as well.

Huge variety of activities available for patrons from story time for the little ones to movie screenings in the auditorium. They also offer specialized equipment to borrow and use if you have a hobby or trade you want to make a career. For example; 3D printers, Music studios, microbusiness center, etc. take a look at the website and view the events calendar to see upcoming activities or stop in and speak with one of the many friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff members, visit a branch near you or the Main Library downtown on Main St,

I can't imagine a resource someone would need either as an educator, job seeker, business professional, or student that the Library doesn't have. The staff is generally very friendly and helpful, it's a big facility, and there is plenty of room to find a quiet workspace. The Library is right in the middle of downtown Akron, so there is plenty of places around to break for lunch (or dinner). There are plenty of public events like free movie nights and meeting resources, like rooms for rent, for companies or organizations. On top of all that, they stay on the cutting edge with regards to technology with green screen and recording studios, vinyl and 3D printers, a laser engraver, internet access, and much more! The Library is very community oriented as well and contributes to several local organizations in various ways. The Library is a tremendous asset in the Akron area that everyone, regardless of age, should make time to explore.

Staff members always polite and helpful. Clean location. Security on staff available for those that like to disprespect and forget libraries are to be quiet places. Local PD available close as well if the disrepect escalates.

Always a good experience coming to this library. Beautiful and so many books! We went to visit the children's library section most recently. It is in it own separate area of the library, away from the main section. Perfect place for a kid to explore, read, and play. The decorations on the walls were cute and my kids picked out 18 books! My son hit the jackpot of books when he found their Minecraft section of books. All in all, I highly recommend any of the Akron-Summit County libraries, but this one is my favorite.

Spent hours in Special Collections researching genealogy. The staff is amazing! Very knowledgeable and happy to help.

This library is fantastic. The staff is super helpful and attentive and super duper friendly! A little confusing as far as the layout , being as it's soooo big, but they sure do have a lot of stuff!

Hadn't been there in a while but I'm glad I went. My daughter's enjoyed themselves so that's enough for me. The staff was helpful and friendly especially the black lady she was very engaging. Not a knock in anyone just giving her her props for incredible customer service.

Beautiful, large, and well-organized. Parking deck is easily accessible and reasonably priced (for how valuable good parking is in downtown Akron!). On the main floor is a fun and welcoming children’s area and library shop. In the elevators is a chart of all three floors so everything is easy to find. Teen section is set up in a fun engaging way with great views and comfortable seating/tables for homework. Downstairs “techzone” has a number of computers and other tools/printers for use. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, every visit is a pleasant, clean, enjoyable time!

-Lots of events for kids and adults including summer reading programs with fun incentives

I went in to the library looking for help on my astrophysics homework and Maddy from science and tech was so helpful! She is the absolute best. I love this library and will absolutely be back!!!!

I went there for a passport application and photo. They were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

I love the Akron library system and the main branch is great. The building is large, spacious and there are so many amenities. They put on some fun events as well (love the Reading Festival!). People really need to explore this branch and find all the cool services available.

This is one of the biggest and well stocked libraries I’ve ever been to. It was very easy to find parking, which is located at the bottom level of the garage and connects directly to the library (it’s validated too!) Everyone was very helpful with helping me find a specific book, and the checkout experience was a breeze. I could easily see myself spending hours here reading or researching.

Large library with all types of resources. I have used the special collections for genealogy research. They have so much history documented either online, on the shelves, or on microfilm. I do most online but started here on the microfilm. The staff are always helpful. They have a great website that lists what they have. Great library.
