Island Lake Cafe

We always stop in for dinner at least once a week. Their chicken and soups are amazing. Never have to ask for anything, food is hot, and carry out’s are always correct. Fast and friendly people there.

Like many businesses, they seem to be struggling with staff. Only 1 server, running around like crazy, but so pleasant when taking our order, so kudos to her! Food was delivered in a timely manner, and was very good. Another employee was helping pour coffee, remove plates, etc.
If you like Betty Boop, this is the place for you ~ lots of decorations all over.

Best homemade soup and sandwiches in the area!! Pretty good breakfast also. Always friendly faces when you walk in.... especially Sue Rizzo. She is such a sweet, kind person and we always look forward to seeing her smiling face. The owners are just as wonderful too, the cook always waves hi, even if he's super busy 🌝

The food was very good, I would definitely go again.

I had a ham, onion, hashbrown, egg scrambler
It had 2 small dollops of sour cream on top. It was very dry.

The Betty Boop theme was a little over the top. There was an oder as you came into the restaurant that said I need a good cleaning. The food was good, the service was good.
You actually got hot food!!!

Food was great. Came hot and portions were very good also. Have visited here before when I do my dog sitting out there. What I like is they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have never had a bed meal. You don't find many places open for dinner any more. So was glad they were open for dinner also. Will continue to visit when I am out that way. I did go once for breakfast and once for dinner while out there. Had the Strawberry waffle and ham and with dinner I had the Pork Tenderloin dinner. Both were great. Went at two different times, different days

Loved the restaurant and their food. Friendly atmosphere. We go to McHenry to fish at the damn, but it hasn't been good fishing, so we go eat there.

We had breakfast here and the waitress was very nice. I like this type of local place. The omelet and the biscuits and gravy were really good.

I just love and adore Island Lake cafe, they have not only the best food but they have the best collection of Betty boop memorabilia I've ever seen my best friend is a Betty boop nut and every time we go she always sees something that she doesn't have which makes going there that much more enjoyable.
I have never had a bad meal and the service is always A+, always a friendly welcoming smile, greeting I have never felt rushed I can't say enough for this little restaurant!

Our server Violet was amazing! She was so good to our daughter. Was our first time here. Food was good. Great price for everything you get! My husband rarely brings home food and between bread and cracker basket, soup and salad, entree and dessert he was full and had to get a take home container. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful resturant and good home cooked food. The atmosphere was delightful. I too love Betty Boop! I will be back!

Stopped in for dinner on Sunday. Had skirt steak and eggs. Eggs just like I like them. The steak, was phenomenal. Flavorful, tender, like I remember getting skirt steak.
Wife had boasted chicken, wonderful. Hot, flavorful. Prices reasonable. Will be back.

I love their home cooked comfort food meals. The staff is always amazing and our kids love their soups!! Also, don’t get me started on the nostalgia of Betty Boop decor -love it!!

Always great! Excellent breakfast. They even have saganaki (flaming cheese). And ice cream strawberry waffles for the kids. Everyone there is super friendly.
