The Pilot House

This was recommended for lunch by the very friendly lady at the city information center. We went around 12:30 on a Tuesday and it was packed.
Thankfully they had a table for two and we were able to sit right away. The server was very friendly, but I could tell that they were very busy running around from table to table.

We got a "steamer", a fish and chips w/ haddock, and a cup of clam chowder. The steamer was basically a lb and half of soft shell clams, with butter. The wife loved it! I'm not much of a clam person though.

The haddock and fries were very good too. I generally like firmer fish for my fish and chips, but this was good. Very good fries too.

The clam chowder was probably the best I've had in a long while.

Our total bill was around $45 or something which felt very reasonable for the quality of food and the area.

Saw a bunch of people ordering whole lobsters. They too seemed pretty well priced.

Wonderful place of locals. Service could not have been better. Without even asking the waitress knew to bring individual bills to the table. The haddock Rueben is excellent, the fries crispy and seasoned well. The whole belly clams rate amongst the best around.

It was very hard to find, we drove around in circles for 20 minutes looking for it. We'd heard about it online & drove an hour to have a nice lunch. I'm glad we didn't give up. The serving sizes are very generous, the prices seemed a little high, but you're right on the water, so I guess that's to be expected. My recommendation is the fried scallop basket. Delicious. My only complaint is that I ordered a cup of coffee & it was good, but when it cooled off a bit. I asked to have some more added. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to, where I had to pay $3 for a second cup. Every other restaurant I've been to just fills it up for free. After spending around $40 for the scallop basket, I was surprised. Other than that, it was great!

Quaint, and comfortable! Friendly employees, management, and locals. I had clam chowder (very tasty), and Blueberry Pie (just right, not too sweet). 😋 Looks like they are adding a room addition. I highly recommend this eating establishment!

We had booked a whale watch trip, which was unfortunately cancelled about an hour before taking off. We saw this restaurant in the same parking lot. We decided a cpl hours later to go back there for lunch. It was FAAAANTAAASTIC! Haddock basket had a huge lightly breaded n fried filet on deeelicious ff. A haddock sandwich was treated the same..a big piece of delicious flaky haddock on a great toasted roll with lettuce, tomatoes, a few pickles and onions and tartar sauce on the side. Onion rings for us all to try were light, flaky hand breaded masterpieces!!! French onion soup with lovely crusty pc of bread w a thick layer of chz on it..and a side salad were both beautiful and delicious. Actually slivers of carrots in the salad! When asked if they were a Coke or Pepsi, happily for me..Coke!!😁 I asked for a bucket! I was thirsty..Awesome server brought me an actual little BUCKET of diet Coke!! I was in heaven. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on the enclosed patio..was a bit windy for the outside one. Our food was piping hot, and was served up really quickly! We highly recommend!!!

Fun dive bar. Waitresses were attentive and friendly. Fun vibe on a cold rainy afternoon. Good place to grab a beer.

This place was amazing! The food was really good and reasonably priced. The staff though - was the best! I had my 3yo husky with us on vacation and they offered to have us seated on the patio so he could enjoy the beautiful view and weather with us. They also brought him a water bowl. The people around us were very nice and gave him lots of love and attention!
Thank you to the staff for helping us make a great decision for an early dinner!

Absolutely amazing! Small restaurant but amazing! Parking is limiting but find a spot and enjoy.

Great restaurant with a full menu, food is very good and the prices are very reasonable. Also the staff and the service are great from the minute you come in, love the outdoor patio but they also have a full bar inside. Highly recommended if you're in Kennebunkport.

My husband and I loved this place so much we went to lunch here twice. Normally we like to “spread the wealth” but when something is that good, why change it? The lemonade is so good, the coconut shrimp and oh my the haddock Reuben. May we suggest going for a pie cone right outside at Maxim’s Desserts in the little yellow truck. Trust me you will not regret it. The banana with peanut butter pie in a waffle cone is heavenly.

This was this first restaurant We tried while in Maine and wow did we choose well. Great friendly service, delicious food, and good prices. I got the lobster roll and it was amazing, the clam chowder was delicious, and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. I’m definitely going to try to make it back before I need to head back home. Much Love from Chicago!

Stumbled upon this delicious little place and we were so impressed. Small lil local bar with scrumptious food and it was so fun eavesdropping on all the locals and their stories.

The new restaurant building was being built currently, so it was a little tight. The pizza was great and an awesome value. We'll be back someday soon, I hope. Thank you.

Came here to watch a Green Bay Packer game. Very local ambience. Just had beer and appetizers but was pleased with what we got and the friendly service.

Our favorite restaurant in Maine. Best clam chowder on earth! Fantastic crab cakes as well. Best of the Best!

The food was delightful. The fish was so fresh and tasty ! We really loved everything we ate. The portions were very generous !

I travel for a living and gone from home 200 plus days a year. Finding good Road Food is the goal and staple of just how well a tour went. Best coconut shrimp I've had in 20 years and best seared scallops! I don't frequent this area but it's going to be on my list to return every time I do!

The best local joint since the invention of local joints. Great staff, old nautical vibe, excellent pub food.
