Depot Pub

Good food, wonderful atmosphere make for a nice experience.

We have lived in town for a couple of years now and have heard about the Depot, but haven't tried it until today. We were not disappointed. We wanted something new for tonight's dinner so we tried here. We started with the pretzels with the beer cheese. The pretzels were really good, not too greasy. The cheese sauce on the other hand, there are no words. I have had beer cheese sauce at other pubs, and nothing compares to this, it was beyond good, not just on the pretzels, but on everything else too. Then came the fried pickles. These are the best fried pickles in one hundred miles. The breading stayed in the pickles and it was very crunchy. Then came the entrees, I had the Reuben with curly fries. I have had Reubens at other places and this one is in the top 10, if not the top 2. My wife had the Rachael. It was amazing the bread was very fresh and the ratio of coleslaw to turkey was right on. My mother in law had the special Lobster roll. It was full and not too much mayo (who likes a mayo rich lobster roll) and the bun was well toasted. And last but not least was my father in law and he had the Steak and Cheese. The bomb, it was very good, great flavor. I was very impressed with this little pub hidden in Gardiner. Olivia was a fantastic server, very attentive, we never had empty glasses and didn't wonder where she was or the food for that matter. Nice atmosphere, very focused on local, a bit noisy tonight, but that was out of their control and I can't let that affect my over all review. I am going to add this place to my list of places that I go regularly, and I highly recommend the Depot to anyone in or coming to town.

**2/19/2023 Update**
We decided to go back to the Depot today. It did not disappoint. The food was just as good as the last time we were there and the service was beyond expectation. I changed things up a little this time and went with the Chicken Bomb. It was outstanding, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the peppers and onions had just enough crunch to them. My wife had the Rachel again and it was just as good as the first time. She started with some Chilli today and said it was good, but maybe a little too much cheese. 8 had to try the wings, but chickens out and went with the boneless ones, still not disappointed. The sweet Thai chilli sauce, is more chilli than sweet, but still very good and I would get that one again. My mother in law made a comment this time and said " if you haven't been here before, you should come". I couldn't have said it better myself. If you haven't been there, go.

***5/26 Update***
We went back again tonight to celebrate Friday. The food was again outstanding. It was a little loud there yet again, but I know that can't always be helped. I will point out one thing specifically because it has to be mentioned. The cheese sauce that comes with the pretzels could be jarred and sold on its own. I literally put this on everything I ate tonight, and then was tempted to drink it right out of the container. When you go, order the pretzels and enjoy the cheese sauce.

My favorite spot for chicken tenders in the Augusta area, maybe even Maine in general. Im a bit of a tendies connoisseur, so trust me! Steak bomb is also so good! We usually get both and share!

We were quickly greeted, we sat down and immediately got our drink orders taken followed by our food order. I'd say in under 10 mins..it was a Saturday and they had a decent dinner rush. Our food took a bit but that's to be expected, we ordered wings and there was a time warning. Everything came out hot and fresh, drinks were VERY well priced and we appreciated the size and the variety available. Our waitress was polite and to the point , she didn't hover.

What more can you really ask for?? We will be back.

Love this place. Food is consistently good, the service is always excellent, and the prices are so much more reasonable than most places around. Wings & curly fries are my favorite here!

Food, service, and atmosphere were great! Pizza is amazing, both types of dough were great, and the high quality toppings make this place a winner. Definitely has a local vibe, and would love to go back when we're in the area.

The beer menu is huge and a very good selection. Menu was also surprising with a large number of items to choose from. Had the steak and cheese and it was fantastic. I was there on a Monday midday and not busy at all. Service was great and attentive. Parking was no problem at all.

Went there with a friend who knew the place. My first time. We ordered a patriot pizza beer and Pepsi. It was really good. Going back again for sure

Great place to go. One, for the food AND atmosphere. A good plan is to boat up the river to Gardiner and walk across the street for some good food, drink and conversation.

First time here. Burgers were good. Fries were a little overcooked when they came out, but we reordered them and they came out perfect. Ordered a thin crust pizza and it was so good. Definitely will be back next time we visit.

It's not my neighborhood but it's everything I'd want from a neighborhood pub. Good selection of local Maine beers and any place with a Chicken Bomb and curly fries which were both tasty on the menu is speaking my language. Service was friendly and welcoming!

We stopped to have lunch. The burgers were great. We had the sweet potato fries also, very good. The bartenders are friendly.

I've been going here for 3 years and I've never had a bad beer, meal, or experience. The wait staff are super friendly, and do their best to make sure your drinks are refilled and food orders are taken quickly. Good luck finding a seat on the weekends though, this place is always PACKED.

Great local brews and great pub food at a good price. Lots of TVs for sports too

Good food, although $20 for a dozen wings seems a bit pricey. Outside of that, great place. Fun atmosphere, outdoor patio area for summertime and very close to all downtown locations. Enjoy!

Didn't get the famous wings, but the fried shrimp were great! Superb beer selection and fast service even during busy times. Will definitely go again!

Fantastic place to grab a beer and fill your belly with delicious food!

Cons:
It can fill up quick, making seating limited during peak times.

Overall I was really impressed with this place and I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in Maine visiting family!
