Where to begin - we have worked with Pete Bruinsma twice. To purchase our first home, then to sell it exactly five years later to (unexpectedly) buy the home of our dreams. I happened to meet Pete while purchasing a chair from Craigslist. During our brief conversation it came up that he was a realtor and I had mentioned that I might be in the market in the near future. My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Pete. A very personable guy, and also very knowledgeable about housing in the Grand Rapids area. We were set to buy a for 'sale by owner', but decided to involve Pete. Our decision was well-rewarded...Pete spotted some things about the house that needed fixing that we wouldn't have otherwise caught, and was able to negotiate a better price. We did look at a number of houses with him, and he was considerate of what we were after. That is, he showed us houses that he thought we would want, not houses he thought we should want. The market in Grand Rapids has been particularly competitive recently and I think Pete showed me at least 20 or more homes during this time and wrote 4 offers on my behalf with the 4th one being the winner! He was very communicative, informed, and available to show houses sometimes within hours of me asking. This made a huge difference in my ability to secure a home because sometimes houses are going off the market within 2 or 3 days of coming on the marking so being able to secure a showing is the difference between getting your house or not. Pete remained helpful and available throughout the entire process of closing as well and helped to make the buying process as smooth as possible. I would recommend using Grand River Realty to anyone who is interested in buying a home, especially if you are a first time home buyer and haven't been through the process yet!

I can't say enough good things about Pete. I went into the selling process with zero idea of what to expect and also at an emotionally charged time for me. He gave professional advice, walked me through the decisions to be made, responded to my questions quickly, and just generally made this experience as painless as it could be. I also ended up with a more substantial downpayment for my new home in North Carolina! I had a very good experience with Pete in selling my son’s home in Zeeland. It was an unusual sale in that I acted as Power of Attorney on my son’s behalf in selling the home.
