Café and Bar Lurcat

This is one of our special occasion places! The food and ambience is always so great. If you have friends visiting from out of town, this is the place you want to take to impress them. We like the bar side, but went for a date night recently and ate on the dinner side. We had an impromptu four course meal that was curated by our server. We took out time and didn't feel rushed. Every server and staff seem to be in a good mood and polite, whether they are bringing you food, cleaning your table, or passing you on your way out. I definitely recommend going about an hour before sunset. PS the setting in the former monk's quarters is beautiful.

Excellent dinner at Cafe Lurcat during restaurant week! The atmosphere is gorgeous and inviting. The quality of food matches the fine dining experience.

🐄 We started off with the Wagyu steak tartare and the corned beef tongue. Both were tender and seasoned perfectly.

For our main entrées, we ordered the Amish chicken and the pork chop. Our main dish order took a little longer than expected. Our waitress informed us that a large party (20 people!) was in front of our order, so she offered us a side dish to accompany our main meals and we added the sweet potatoes.

🐓 The main entrées were well done — chicken was beautifully carved and presented. The skin was tasty. The black rice and sauce were nice compliments to the meat.

🐖 The pork chop was a beautiful, thick cut of meat. We ordered it medium and it may have been ever so slightly cooked a little under medium. Seasoning was perfect and had a nice, tart flavor coming through with the sauerkraut.

🍠 🌟 WOW! 🤩 The sweet potatoes were the star of the evening! Sweet, savory, bright and fresh with lemon, crispy skins… just wow! Order the sweet potatoes!!

🍰 For dessert, we ordered the chocolate panna cotta and olive oil cake. Both were absolutely stunning and would fit right in at any patisserie! Excellent flavors, textures, and presentation! Faultless!

This place was great. Me and my husband first time dining there last night and I loved it. The food was really good so was the dessert. My husband thought the food was good but portion was to small for him. Our server was amazing and she was very very sweet so nice we loved her. She better get the tip I gave her! Highly recommend the duck leg that was really good I had that and the olive oil cake for dessert. My husband had the lamb chops and the mini cinnamon sugar donuts for dessert.

Nate was a pleasure! So pleasant and knowledgeable. The tartar was excellent and the pasta lamb was tender and delicious. Both the apple and the blondie were great. Beautiful atmosphere with the sun setting on those huge windows and jazz music (Friday night). Definitely coming back!

To say this restaurant is phenomenal would be an understatement. The setting is stunningly beautiful, the food superb, cocktails and wine choices were excellent, the service impeccable. Our waiter knew details about each dish that made us want to try everything.

We sat down thinking we would do our usual salads, share a few appetizers and end with a dessert. We were so intrigued by the menu and our server’s top notch engagement with us that we had a full four course meal and even paired a delicious bottle of wine with our entrees.

We will definitely be back!

After a long week, it was a pleasure to be able to decompress with a little perfect-weather outdoor dining at an old favorite (first discovered when I moved to the area ~20yrs ago).

From burgers and blue cheese butter to swordfish and summer cocktail to tawny port accompanied by nothing short of a stellar team of charming and attentive wait staff.

Bonus: a little live dinner music quartet!

The salmon was spot on. Moist, tender and flavorful. Husband had duck and same thing...perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our sides were phenomenal, trust us when we say to get the sweet potatoes and the caramelized cabbage! Our server was a delight. Personal, professional, and checked in on us often.

MN2022: Last year, as hard as we tried, we couldn't get a reservation for a party of five. Not unless we wanted to eat really late in the evening. Having said that, this trip our niece booked well in advance. We were not disappointed. The space, the service and the food were all excellent. We are definitely looking forward to dining here on our next visit.

One of my wife and I, hobbies is to try new upscale restuarants in the Twin Cities area, so we eat out frequently and are rarely impressed. This was our first time dining at Cafe Lurcat and we were positviely blown away by the entire experience. The food, service and ambiance were abosulutely superb. Our server gave great recommendations, and the entire staff went above and beyond: From the entrance greet, to delivering the food, to manicuring the tables, to serving desert, to thanking us and wishing us goodbye. The entrire staff seemed to be genuinly kind and not contrived. I'd like to thank the server (Jed or starts with a J) and entire staff for an absolutely delightful experience. Will definitely return!!!

Dined here with my BF for a special date night. Ambience was very romantic and cozy. Service was amazing, our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious! Love that it’s right across Loring Park, makes for great views as you’re enjoying your meal. Will definitely come back for another special occasion!

I went to celebrate three birthdays with two friends. The environment and design of the restaurant is lovely and the food is wonderful. I chose the Seabass and it did not disappoint. I come from California and am used to good seafood, prepared well. My dish was great. My two friends also said their food was wonderful. I would go back in a flash. If only it weren’t quite so expensive. But they deserve that price because their food and service are truly spectacular.

The restaurant was nice and the food was good but the serving position of the shishito peppers was too much the sauce was yummy spices that were not mixed in well. But I’m giving this place 5 stars because I really liked the bbq salmon and dessert.

I've heard a ton of good things about Lurcat, they definitely hold up. One of the best happy hour menus I've seen in Minneapolis. Everything I had was amazing, I tried the whole menu. Ken my server was great, it's always nice to have a waiter who is that professional.

Stopped in with the wife for happy hour and dinner. The bar and cafe both offer a unique experience. If you want to enjoy a more romantic experience be sure to make a reservation in the cafe. The establishment was clean and staff friendly and informative. The food was well prepared , served quickly and full of flavor. I would highly recommend a visit!

Go, just go! We made 3 reservations before settling on this amazing restaurant, and we are so happy that we picked this one. The staff is unmatched. Leah, Ross, and Louis are incredible and made our night. The ambiance and food were unmatched. They truly have the gift of being able to deliver top notch service at an upscale level. The proof is in the details. You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you for a much needed incredible night.

Went here for our anniversary. Hadn't been in many years. Disappointed the alley patio is not yet open but that was explained as a shortage of staff ( a problem all over apparently). Indoors was cool with the air but we opted to eat out on front patio. Server was helpful with wine and food selections. My husband had the pasta entree and I had the roasted chicken. Both were excellent. An octopus starter was very tasty, the sauce was particularly good with a roasted lemon squeezed overall. Wines were well matched to our food selections. Dessert was sublime, we chose the roasted pear with something like creamy ice cream and the chocolate cake with cherries. Expensive night out but worth it for our special occasion.

This place was phenomenal. Truly one of the best gastronomy experiences I've had in a very Iong time.

We went for (food) Happy Hour. I was surpised by how open and comfy the restaurant was.
We chose to sit at the bar, which was a good choice as the bartender (Amber) was really on top of her game. She was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. Though I chose not to drink, she showed me a menu with 'mocktails' that had a few tempting drinks listed.
The Fish Tacos were so good, I ordered them twice. The slaw and fish were properly portioned so that the warm corn tortilla fit perfectly around them.
The salad was light & fresh w/ fun flavors including Watermelon Radish & an Avocado Cream Dressing.
The Mini Donuts were perfect.
My partner had the burgers & lettuce wraps.
We had two baskets of bread to snack on as well.

The food is fantastic. I’ve been here 4 times, each time I’ve visited Minneapolis and it’s been great every time. It’s larger than it looks, ask to sit in the dining room near the plating kitchen and watch the magic happen. Get a minute to chat with the chef if you can, his story is fantastic and inspiring.
