Pastrami & Pickles

After an injury left my body quite defeated and loss of appetite, I recovered. One of my first cravings was for a pastrami sandwich. Not wanting to go to NYC to the traditional tourist traps, i decided to research, best pastrami sandwich in NJ. To my surprise I found a couple of places that were highly rated. One seemed ridiculously over priced. Pastrami and Pickles was an hour away from my home but, I trusted the recent reviews and the pictures I saw. So, I took a ride, still recovering but hungry for my first meal outside hospital food.

I'm so happy to have made the trip. So many food options, so many great specials listed, I stuck to my plan and cravings and ordered their Pastrami and corned beef sandwich. Impressive freshness, very personal and attentive service. Fantastic staff and reasonable pricing. It was one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. Looking forward to going back and I've already raved about it to all my friends. If you are craving delicious, homemade, creative foods, you must make the trip.

Oh my brisket! This food is literally worth driving for! My son & I walked in and we're immediately treated to piping hot slices of the most delicious corned beef I have ever tasted in my life! After seeing the size of the big sandwiches, we opted to get 3 rather then 4 for our lunch with my parents! A half of each sandwich is all any of us could eat! The meat was incredible! The rye bread was fresh, as were the sides of Cole Slaw. Oh, and did I mention the pickles? Oh la la!
During this time of Covid, they have sidewalk dining. They also offer delivery and catering! Needless to say, we have found a little slice of heaven on Westfield Ave!
For my readers who observe, there are signs up that they are NOT Kosher.
We will be back again!

Fantastic service and the best pickles ever!!! Fresh cole slaw was a nice surprise as well. Large portions and flavorful offerings. Worthwhile stop after leaving the city, to head south.

I am so happy I stopped here. The Pastrami is moist, Melts in your mouth and is Ridiculously flavorful. The Mustard was outstanding and something I've never had before.
This is absolutely the Best Pastrami Anywhere. Its Better than the new overly hyped Pastrami Grill in Garfield, easily has 25% more meat and I don't have to drive 35 min to get there.
Its more flavorful and moist than Harold's in Edison and way less expensive.
The Owner Ahsan Kazi is a Nice Guy and Donates a lot to Charities. Overall great experience. I'll be back. Get there and Go today. You'll be very glad you did.

Very pleasant environment and yes they do deliver. You definitely get your monies worth & some. Stop in you will definitely not be disappointed.

Top top notch. Awesome pastrami sandwich that’s fairly priced. And a bunch of other unique sandwiches that have all been delicious. Staff friendly and attentive. Steak fries well done are beyond good. I have been eyeing the southern belle sandwich for the last 3 visits and finally tried it. Might be one of the top 5 sandwiches I have ever tasted! I will keep coming back for more.

I got the pastrami on the with mustard on the side and a side of fries. First off....the Pastrami literally melted in my mouth...hands down the best pastrami I've ever eaten. Great thick cut fries.. cooked and seasoned perfectly and 2 decent sized bags of pickles on the side. Great soft rye bread and a side of Cole slaw.

Our second time visiting and it was delicious both times! We ordered the pastrami and corned beef Reuben and it was enough to split plus some to take home! Friendly service! Ordered the kids the boneless wings and fries and that was a hit too. Thanks for a great lunch!

While on my way back to L.I. I got the urge for some sliders. Since it was on my way, I decided to really slum it and go to White Castle on Westfield Ave in Elizabeth. I was about a block away when a sign caught my eye, "Pastrami & Pickles". At first I thought, Pastrami,here?? Gotta be that deli/cold cut stuff but since Pastrami is my weakness, I made a U, what did I have to lose?? I parked and went inside that familiar aroma smacked me in the face, damn,this place is legit . The place was staffed with a very pleasant young lady , who was working the register and took my order and a young guy working the slicer (Not every place uses a knife Katz's snobs). Before slicing the meat for my sandwich, the guy brought over a few slices for me to sample. What he put in front of me was some of the moistest, slightly fatty Pastrami I've seen in a long time and the flavor, wow , it brought back memories of when that type of pastrami was the rule and not the exception. The only hit, the sandwich isn't that large but then again it's only 10.99 and not the $14.00 that's the norm. Bottom line, this place is a find. I've already called my Jersey family and I'm sure they'll all be stopping by real soon . Keep up the good work Pastrami & Pickles. I'll be by next week.

I have visited a few times and it just keeps getting better every time. I have order different combination of sandwiches and they are just very delicious. My favorite is the pastrami and corned beef and the pastrami and brisket! The staff is great every single time I have stopped by.

I had the bbq brisket, and I sampled my friends pastrami and corn beef. The brisket was awesome, but I will be getting the pastrami the next time 100%, that was insane. PS this is not diet food lol

Stopped by after not being in my hometown for a while. Glad I did. I indulged in the Delicatessen Omlette. Normally I question "diced" corn beef, pastrami, AND salami in an omlette of all things. I added swiss and it surprisingly decadent. Staff was friendly. It is nice to have BYOB option and another spot to 'sober up' after a night in the city.

Outstanding! For the first time ordering I had the Avocado and Salmon salad. What a great dish. I also had the pastrami egg rolls and they were awesome. I will definitely be ordering from them again. If you haven’t already, please try this place. You won’t be disappointed. Thank for for some great food!! A very happy and satisfied customer!!

At first l thought the price was too high but the sandwich was fantastic. I had a pastrami on rye and the meat was tasty , fresh and delicious . THE serving was huge and the Cole slaw was totally delightful. I am now a true fan and would recommend without reservation
