Rockacres Veterinary Hospital

One of my pet rats had an aggressive ulcerated tumor and unfortunately the only solution for him was an emergency euthanasia. I had called TEN vets in the area including his regular vet and none of them could fit him in. I was finally guided to Rockacres by a receptionist at another vets office and when I called here the woman who answered actually took the time to hear my situation and go ask the vet directly if they could squeeze me in. I received a call back within a few minutes and they told me they could squeeze me in and even gave me a time window so I could get an extra couple hours with my baby. When I got there the office was extremely clean and welcoming. The doctor explained to me exactly how they were going to help my rat cross the rainbow bridge, and I really appreciate how they took the time and resources to make sure it was as painless and stress free as possible. I am beyond thankful and greatful for this practice, the people here are so kind and compassionate despite me and my rat being total strangers. The kindness they gave me significantly eased the pain of the situation. I highly recommend this vet and I will be back.

We love the veterinarians and the staff at Rockacres. They are kind, compassionate and always have provided well-informed, well-rounded care to our fur babies.

Dr. Capparelli Is absolutely amazing. She fit my two baby rats in the spring when the had a uri. And recently one of our babies got another uri and she was just as awesome. She genuinely cares about the animals she takes care of and checked on them after a week to see how they were doing. She also works with me to get good prices. I will always take my animals to rockacres.

In 2019-2020, one of our budgies Pop had a large, tumor looking lump on his eye. We believe it to be psittacosis. We took him to Rockacres for the first time ever and he was treated with ointment & antibiotics. The vets there were astonishing & did everything the possibly could. They treat your exotics like they’re their own. Sadly, it was too late and Pop didn’t make it. Fast forward to February 2022, we got an akita puppy named Akira. After taking Pop to Rockacres and experiencing how great it was, Akira now goes there for her yearly checkups or when she’s sick. Would 100% recommend Rockacres. What they do is amazing.

I have had the most kind and compassionate care from this practice. As a life long pet parent, I have always received amazing care and service, both with medical maintenance of my pets’ health and also with difficult end of life decisions and experiences. I have mostly worked with Dr. Downing, who is one of the sweetest and relatable humans I have ever met. She is great at presenting options, sharing knowledge, getting external advice when necessary, and supporting whatever path is chosen. And when Dr. Downing is not available, I have had nothing but positive experiences with other doctors, expressing the same caring and responsible characteristics. And the staff at the front desk are also awesome…responsive, friendly, helpful. I have had some really negative experiences In the past with multiple other providers…I can’t say enough good things about Rock Acres.

I don’t usually like to write reviews and/or write them before the entire situation is resolved, however I am thoroughly impressed with this service. Came in with an emergency hamster case and they got me an appointment a few hours later which a dozen places before had denied me (including vets I’ve gone to before). Also important to note that the people who picked up the phone have some animal knowledge so I didn’t have to explain why my situation was critical. Very accommodating and gave me ample resources to help her get better. The price was also great considering a scheduled the appointment hours in advance and got 2 medications. Very timely as well. Thank you so much Rockacres Veterinary Clinic! Regardless of my hamsters health in the future, I know this clinic gave her the best shot in a welcoming atmosphere. :)

After calling 11 vet offices, this place was amazing! They squeezed my turtle in between clients so they could see him. They gave him food through a feeding tube, some shots, fluids, and some items to help heal his tail. He is on the mend now. Thank you 😊

I've brought my two dogs and two cats to Rockacres for over 10 years. They are so gentle and loving with them all, and go above and beyond to make sure they're happy and healthy! Absolutely recommend!

Drs. Downing and Capparelli have handled 2 traumatic experiences we went through, first with our young chi weenie dog and then with our older cat, and we couldn’t have asked for more professional and compassionate care. They helped to make both very difficult situauons as easy as possible. There is no doubt that they truly care about their patients and the family who are often nervous or upset.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Caparelli. I have ferrets, and it can be very hard to find a vet in the area that can see them with any level of regularity. Most clinics dont treat them, and if they do its always one doctor who is on one day a week and booking out months. One of my babies became very ill and our vet at the time, was in that day, but couldnt make room. I called everywhere, and was about to make the trek down to Cornell, when someone suggested Rockacres. Dr. Caparelli made room to see my girl that day. She has taken wonderful care of Bug, and knowing we have an excellent place to take them for medical care is an
enormous weight off my shoulders. I literally cannot express how grateful we are to Dr. Caparelli, and how happy we are that we have found her. As a side note, the facility is beautiful, and the prices are reasonable. Excellent place.

A wonderful place to take your animal, dr. Caparelli was so nice and accommodating helping out with my bunny Bugs, even giving him specially flavored medications that small animals enjoy and she truly cares for all the animals she sees. 10/10 recommend

I absolutely love taking my cats here. No matter where I have lived in Syracuse they have always gone here and will continue to do so. The staff are great and the doctors are so wonderful! They are always happy to explain what they are doing (or suggest) and why and always have time for questions.

A little pricey, but they don't force procedures down your throat or make you feel like a bad owner like some other vets. Dr. harris is extremely caring, and remembers you and your pet when you see her out and about. She follows up with phone calls, and is very knowledgeable and skillful. I am glad I switched to this practice 9 years ago and will continue in the future.

Took my sick dog there after i became dissatisfied with my previous vet. They got me in the next day even though I was not a patient there. They spend an hour and a half with me and did a very thorough exam. They were compassionate and caring. I highly recommend them

Top notch first class care. Staff and Dr’s are truly concerned about you furry friends and that you understand the pets needs. They don’t push unnecessary treatments! RA is safe, clean and professional. They follow up after treatments!

I wasn't able to get an appointment with Rockacres when my usual vet couldn't see my pup for a semi-urgent issue, but of all the other places I called--including my own vet of 26 years--the staff at Rockacres were by far the most professional, helpful, and empathetic in advising me of alternative courses of action. It's heartening to see that there are still individuals and businesses that hold true to these practices.

Wonderful people who helped us give our very I'll and beloved cat a peaceful end. No pushy behaviors and attitudes like we've experienced at a nearby competitor, just helpful and supportive people with sound advice and lion sized hearts.

Wonderful, wonderful staff! Very caring with patients and owners. Dr. Caparelli took her time with us and wasn't in a hurry to move on to her next patient. Took our chicken, Petunia to be seen. Highly recommended!

The vets are legendary and I would hands down recommend anyone to go here who really loves their pet and wants them taken care of with love ❤ tje prices are amazing and they will also work with you. 5 stars for them all the way
