Bawk! by Urban Roots

It was my first time visiting this place. It was in the middle of the day. Was not crowded. The atmosphere was 5 stars. Loved the interior, very interesting. Service was also great. The people working here were helpful. We are a family of picky eaters and have asked to exclude some staff from meals and they did an amazing job. Food was very good. The chicken strips were soft inside and crunchy outside. The salad was also good. I highly recommend the cauliflower. 🔥 Overall 5.5 out of 5 stars hehe!

Wow! Everything we had was 5 stars....even the sweet tea and the Arnold Palmer! Chicken was great.....perfect breading and the meat was juicy. Fish was great! Cornbread with maple butter might have been my favorite part of the meal if itnwasnt for the crispy brussel sprouts. A little spicy but oh so sweet as well. We took a table outside and it's a great neighborhood and we had great service! Can't recommend this place enough!

Overall for a first time customer, very pleased. Chicken was juicy and fire . Waffle was delicious, everything was fresh and flavorful.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bawk! by Urban Roots in Sacramento, CA, and it was an exceptional experience. This spot offers a fun and vibrant urban atmosphere that immediately sets the mood for a fantastic meal.

Despite being a counter-order establishment, the staff's attentiveness stood out as they consistently checked on our satisfaction throughout the meal. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the chicken sandwich. We opted for the maple hot version, and it was a delightful blend of flavors. The slaw and pickles complemented the juicy chicken perfectly, offering a balance of heat without overwhelming the taste buds.

The fries were a delightful surprise with their crispy texture, and the chicken and waffles were unlike any I've had before. Three huge wings accompanied by a heavenly maple butter to pair with the maple syrup made for a memorable combination. It's safe to say this was close to the best chicken I've ever had.

In addition to the fantastic food, the overall cleanliness of the place, including the restrooms, was noteworthy. The great service and prime location added to the overall appeal of Bawk! by Urban Roots.

If you're in the Sacramento area and looking for an unforgettable dining experience with fantastic chicken dishes, I highly recommend Bawk! It's a true gem that deserves every one of its 5 stars.

I saw them on IG so I had to try it. Hubby had the burger and I had the chard salmon. It was absolutely amazing. Definitely going back to try the speakeasy part at the Roost. Loved the music. I was dancing while eating. Then I told the waiter that my drink wasn’t strong enough so she brung me a tequila shot for free. Definitely great customer service.

Me and the fam had a staycation downtown. We decided to try Bawk out. We got there right before their late night menu. It's pay up front which I love. They served us pretty fast. I got the short rib plate which I thought was really good. My wife and son got the chicken and waffles. They said the chicken was good but the waffle was ok. May have just been it was like a corn meal waffle. I thought it was fine. The Mac and cheese was creamy and cheese. I can't complain there. We also ordered a side of brussel sprouts which were on point. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the crowd. I will return.

Really delicious fried chicken sandwich. We are very pleased to find this place. The host was super friendly & kind when we walked in and a bit puzzled being there for the first time (not knowing where are the menu to read and how to order (go to the ordering counter)). The ordering counter staff was very attentive and guided us with helpful tips. We gobbled up our food!!! We were visiting Sacramento for the weekend and we couldn't wait to come back here to eat what Bawk! offers.
It is located in the really nice block with many restaurants all filled with young people. There were nice & spacious tables inside as well as outside.
The nicely set-up water station with a spigot by the entrance was great. We could just refill our glasses without bothering a staff when spiciness of our food required more water.
Lots of sauce dripping from my sandwich, but happy to find a clean bathroom to wash all my hands afterward.

Third visit here, typically excellent food but it didn't meet expectations this time around. We sat outside thinking it would be quieter than the bar area... but then they turned up the volume on the patio speakers too and it kind of ruined the vibe. I'll still come back for the tasty chicken.

Ive experience kindness, patience and gentle warm-hearted service from the hostess.. though i dont know her name, she is always very present when ever my family dine in. She takes great pride in service as she went above and beyond making sure my order was correct after a slight mistake in a previous order. BAWK food and service is the exact same everytime we visit and we will continue to share this good news and food to all my friends and family.. thank you so much for being so kind to me.

My first time at Bawk Chicken was for a retirement luncheon. The establishment is close to the office and serves some great comfort food. I ordered the Nashville fried chicken (dark) with a side of waffles and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. It was served with fresh pickles. The waffle was light and fluffy and cooked to perfection. The macaroni and cheese was made with a cheese sauce so I was not a fan. It was edible though! The portion sizes are great for the price.
After ordering, we all noticed how quickly the food began to come out. Everyone was happy and felt like their food was hot and fresh.
The one critique about the restaurant is that there are very limited healthy items. But, it is a fried chicken establishment. This is definitely a place to come for comfort food. The ambiance is casual and inviting. The energy level was just right and the desire welcomes conversation. I look forward to bringing the family to try a new chicken spot.

Have eaten the Chicken Sandwich from here twice now, delicious! Second time there was Happy Hour with three other friends. Everyone ordered something different, and we we're all very pleased with our food. We received good service as well. And we all enjoyed our adult beverages!! A place we'd visit again!

The service was great. The food was great too. We had French toast, breakfast potatoes(amazing!), chicken sandwich(maple sauce is really good & chicken was cooked perfectly), & creamy grits. The Caribbean passion drink is good. My LO had lemonade. Definitely a hit here! Always good to score high across the board when trying out new restaurants. Me and my girls loved it here. Bill was only about $60.

The brunch is absolutely delicious here, I highlyyyy recommend the blueberry pancakes, my friend and I said they straight up taste like a dessert. 10/10 super tasty!

Huge thank you to the staff working at Bawk. When my friend became unwell while waiting in line, the staff were quick to offer assistance. They also repeatedly checked in on them during our time at the restaurant. We appreciate the kindness, patience and empathy the staff showed tonight.

Had a great time visiting Sacramento this time. This place will now be on my revisit list.

This chicken is awesome: crispy skin, juicy meat, and flavorful to boot. I especially love their chicken and waffles; the honey butter and maple syrup would be too sweet on their own, but the savory richness of the chicken tempers it just right. I also love that they've got chicory coffee, which is surprisingly hard to find in eateries and cafes. Plus you can have any dish prepared Nashville-style for a good kick!

That is one epically delicious Nashville hot chicken sandwich! I rather liked the thick cut toast, it balanced well with chicken and mayo, and soaked up some of the ever-dripping spicy sauce. That sauce... SO good! Mind you this was the lowest spicy level, it gave me a good sweat and kick to the sinus canals. Loved every bite. Excellent fries too! Bawk bawk baby!!

Amazing food!!! EVERYTHING that the party of 3 in our group ordered, was seasoned and cooked to a surprisingly perfect amazing taste and texture.
We all tried each other's meal because it was that tasty. Hehe, I stuffed myself just because it all tasted so good.
Although they didn't have a hazy ipa on tap, the pilsner was refreshing and light.
The customer service was also fantastic. 👏
