Now ada compliant. Honestly though, I have a lack of photos.... But this is the coolest recreational center I've ever seen. Pools... Slides... Rock climbing.... Gym.... Tennis courts.... I wish I had these things growing up. This is located next to river City high in West Sacramento.

GREAT! It wasn't too crowded, especially for a Saturday afternoon and there were plenty of Staff to efficiently run it. They were all Professional, Efficient and Friendly. The whole place was sanitary and very organized. I will definitely make this my place to go for working out, both exercising and bicycling as well as swimming in their two pools. You won't find me on the two water slides at 67 years old but I will come in the wintertime for the heated pool. I would definitely recommend this place for all ages.

I enjoy coming here three to 4 times a week for the Zumba classes, treadmill, lap swim and aqua fit!
The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful with fast easy check in!
It's always so clean and sanitary, the ladies restroom is spacious with showers, lockers, scale, hair dryers and access to the lap pool, which is always the perfect temperature for swimming. They have a nice size workout room with any machine imaginable, so many classes daily like strength training, yoga, Kinesis, spin classes. And open gym basketball, pickle ball too many to mention. Reasonably priced. Seniors pay $26.50 a month! Come on seniors keep moving!
It helps you feel great!!
Check it out on the West Sacramento Recreation Center website for all the info.

Customer service is great! Very clean and well maintained facility. Although only few years old, already improved basketball court floor. Staff is attentive to members and facility. Wide range of classes offered at varied times. Instructors teach at varied levels and check in with class throughout. Pool is fun and clean. Very family friendly.

The city was Sacramento has a wonderful recreation center full of amenities for residents and non-residents. They have a full-service gym with classes. They have a full basketball court with the Sacramento Kings logo on the court. They have a rock climbing wall, a daycare center for those who are using the recreation center to put their children, and community rooms that you can rent out for events such as birthday parties. They have changing rooms with showers including family changing rooms. They have pools and water slides. The pools include a recreational pool with water features for children and people who just want to relax as well as a lazy river. They also have an Olympic sized swimming with diving board. They have two water slides as well. If the parking lot is full, just park in the adjacent parking lot shared with the high school.

We have been here on more than one occasion, but we recently had my oldest son's birthday party at the pool. We had a most excellent time, and everyone we dealt with were very helpful and tremendously accommodating. Our only issue was that now when you reserve the pool, you only get one hour on the slides. In the past, the slides were open for the entire reserved party time. Kind of a minor beef, but a beef nonetheless.

I’m blown away by this place. I’ve lived in West Sac for many years and didn’t know much about the Rec Center until recently. The facilities are on par — and actually better in some ways — than most fancy gyms. Details:

— 5 stars... BEST THING: The outdoor lap pool is wonderful. It’s well-maintained, not overly chlorinated, and there are lifeguards on duty. There’s also a kiddie and “walking” pool.

— 4 stars...EQUIPMENT: I REALLY like that the cardio/weight room is separate from everything else, so there’s more privacy. The music isn’t too loud and things are organized. They have a decent selection of weights (although I’d like to see them add more leg/glute equipment), resistance options (like kettle bells) and lots of cardio equipment - including an erg (rowing machine). Bring your own yoga mat. PSA: don’t turn the resistance on the rowing machine all the way up to 10. You’ll just hurt your back. Olympic rowers set it around a 5. If you want to learn more about rowing, check out our very own River City Rowing Club!

— 4.5 stars... OTHER OPTIONS: A few types of “ball” courts, and a rock climbing wall. All clean and well maintained.

—4.5 stars... CLASSES: there are yoga, cardio, and weight lifting classes. The instructors are really good at stressing good form, injury prevention, and modifying things for all body types and fitness. So don’t be intimidated! I’ve liked what’s been offered and I hope they expand options to include Barre/Pilates, spin class, and maybe some more dance classes for adults.

— 2 stars... BOOKING: the process for booking lanes in the lap pool, registering for a class, reserving a court, etc ... is OK. It’s all online. The website isn’t all that high tech and the checkout process leaves a LOT to be desired, and I’ve encountered a glitch when trying to update payment info. If they can develop a good app for all this, I’ll increase my rating.

—5 stars... COSTS: Membership is about $40/month with access to their classes and facilities. Most big chain gyms start about this price point and are really loud, and have everything in one giant room. Personal trainers are available at an additional, very reasonable hourly rate. The staff is courteous and helpful. BONUS: Parking is plentiful, shady with trees, and free!

NOTE ON COVID PROTOCOL: while this will soon end, they do a temperature check at the door and provide sanitation for uequipment. Currently the locker rooms are closed so I can’t speak to those.

Overall, I think this is something that more West Sacramentans should take full advantage of. Our city government has done a great job creating a clean, safe, and friendly environment for people of all ages and fitness levels!

I absolutely love our Rec Center. I started 9 years ago and love going to their classes four or five days a week. Sandy and Tiana are great instructors. They keep us all motivated and eager to come back the next day. I'm sure I would not be as healthy as I am if it weren't for them and their classes. The facility is always spotless and the City of West Sacramento does a great job running it. Paul Reyes manages the Rec Center perfectly. Lastly, the staff are always friendly and eager to help in any way they can. I love, love, love our Rec Center!!

Great lap pool. The water slide area has two slides. Also, a beautiful recreation pool perfect for families. It has a lazy river, in addition to other fun water features for kids. The recreation pool starts with a beach-like shallow, walk-in and is no deeper than about 4' in the deepest end.

Two things would improve the experience for me. I'm hoping there will be mature trees growing up along the fence line to provide more shade in the future and I'd love to see the pool stay open later, at least on weekends. Except for staying open till 7pm on summer Fridays, they close between 5:15 and 5:30. Perhaps they tried that and there weren't enough swimmers staying late.

Love it, I visit every summer. Wish more of the lounge chairs didn't have broken backs, and the fact that people get thru the locker rooms to access the Rec Pool b4 the door opens, or that ppl save chaises for kids that are in the pool 90% of the time.

This place is awesome! I was there for baby shower. They have rooms for rent, a rock wall, pool with big slide, gym, and weight room and that was just the one side of the building. I definitely will go back or at least check the website out to see what other things are offered.
