Mad Local American Eatery

Stopped here on the way to a clay festival in Stanardsville and WOW. Food was nothing short of amazing (I got the Southern Burger); everything comes from local farms and the taste definitely reflects that. Service is also top tier! Justina was our server and she was absolutely wonderful. So attentive and kind- just an overall genuine, sweet person. Not sure which was better, the food or the service. But BOTH were top notch. Also love that this place is owned and operated by Veterans. HIGHLY recommend this spot!

My friend Terry and I finally got to take a road trip down to Mad Local in Madison Virginia and we weren't disappointed! We were given a friendly welcome immediately and chose to sit outside. Whitney greeted us quickly and told us about the specials. We decided to try the Buffalo Chips appetizer on Whitney's recommendation and we loved them. Since we had been thinking about taking a trip for a while we were both familiar with the menu and decided to try the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich special. It was delicious! Whitney was amazing making sure we had enough ketchup for our fries and refills for our sweet tea. Mad Local will exceed your dining expectations with it's locally supplied fresh ingredients and superb customer service from their staff to their management/owners! I love supporting Veteran Owned and Operated businesses, especially when they are a 5 out of 5 stars dining experience!
Update: Finally got to try Mad Local's Brunch today (Sunday) and it was the best brunch I've had in a long time. I decided to try the Fried Green Tomatoes snack with I think the "Mad Local Breakfast" consisting of two eggs, choice of meat, home fries and toast. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were cooked perfectly. The sausage had an incredible flavor but the surprise was the home fries. Maybe I was imagining things but they had a delicious smoky flavor! I wish I lived closer because I would come here several times a week for breakfast. My friend had a Bloody Mary with his breakfast and said it was awesome. Ally was our server and she was friendly, attentive and did a great job explaining the specials and regular menu. Can't wait to go back!

Love. This. Place. Do ya self a favor, come by for excellent food, friendly service and cozy atmosphere nestled on the only main road through town. Quaint and picturesque.
I was greeted by Jake (the co-owner) & another pleasant young lady who recommended the Dirty Bird and the Pulled Pork sandwich with bbq and homemade (cooked to order ) Gouda mac n cheese. Also scored me a strawberry shake. They also made me a plain burger patty for my ride or die (doggo, waiting in the car( All delicious!! Thank you. I’ll be back

Delicious food! The wine slushies are great and the service is so friendly. Very busy place but there's enough seating for at least 4 people in a group. Milkshakes are amazing. Burgers taste better than the fast food restaurants. Fries are amazing and are still crispy after 30 minutes, full of flavor. Can't wait to come back!

This place was AWESOME! Local vet owned restaurant with great food. Everything is locally sourced and made in house. The pulled pork Mac and cheese was basically two meals in one with how much mac and cheese they slap on there. Would eat here again and again!

"I'll have another milkshake please!" This is what I've been saying to myself in the mirror in the 2 days since eating at Mad Local. Real ice cream. Perfectly blended. Whipped cream that is actually sweet on top (down with tasteless creams!). And sprinkles (more for aesthetic purposes but I'll take it).

Oh and did I mention this place is known for the food? The Good Morning burger (on sourdough, w/a fried egg) was top notch. And the Nacho Pig (w/deep fried waffle crisps), while not mind blowing, was re-eatable.

Top it all off with really great service (our waitress checked on us no less than 5 times, with a smile), and this is one of the better diners I've had in years.

Impressed all around... Our three member team had burgers and fries, all of which were large-sized, delicious, and worth the price. They have a patriotic and military service recognition interior that I really liked and took time to look at everything on the walls. I spoke with the owner, a great American who served honorably in the USCG and U S Army and is proud to keep serving the people of Madison and the local community. He tries to source his products from local and veteran suppliers. Great place to eat and honor our still great country! I'll be back.

Was very good and super nice staff. We liked that the food was locally sourced and veteran owned/operated. We’re only in the area for a few days but we’ll definitely be back.

Great service and staff. For an app, I ordered fried green tomatoes. It came with pimento cheese - a must have snack! I ordered the vegetarian flatbread and it came with sweet potato fries. No picture included, because I ate it so fast. The staff was very accommodating to vegetarians!

I must say we were very pleased. We were greeted at the door (I'm assuming with a smile due to the mask the young lady was wearing :) Sat very quickly for being lunch time. Sweet tea was very good! Jacob took our order after being very pleasant and patient since this was our first time. Our food came out very promptly. I have to say it was very delicious! We ordered 2 Dirty Birds and The American Burger with fries, and left with a smile and full bellies!! It was explained to us the food is as much local as possible! Very nice to be able to support local small businesses!! Check this place out folks if you're going through Madison!
Only thing I have to say I was disappointed in was the fact I forgot to ask if they had any shirts in stock!!! HA HA HA

Was passi g through on our way home from a hike in the mountains and it was great, would recommend.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. I got a root beer float and the Pork N Mac sandwich.

This place is amazing. The service is excellent & very fast.

Great food! Highly recommend the hangover fries just a pile of delicious goodness. The burgers & sweet potato fries are also out of this world.

Best of all veteran owned. They even source their food from veterans when possible & local farms when a veteran owned source isn’t available.

Great menu and drink selection. Bacon cheese steak was great. If you're in the area this is the place you want to go.

What isn't to love? Locally sourced ingredients, modern menu, competitively priced, and veteran owned & operated. I got the Southern burger with the pimento cheese, recommend 💯. Glad we found this place, and will definitely be going back!

In Madison for the weekend. Just happened to picked this restaurant for a Friday night dinner. We were so glad we did. The food was delicious. Great menu with a variety of different options. So good. This little town has special place here.

Came across this place after a hike nearby, and it sure was impressive. Legitimately one of the best burgers I've ever had, and actually spicy to boot! And there's no way you're finding comparable prices on local beef, and the shakes use local milk. What an excellent place, I'll definitely make this trip again.

Very friendly staff, waiter was excellent. Good food and my kids give 5 stars to the milkshakes (cookies and cream). We got burger, shrimp tacos, mac'n'cheese pork sandwich. For the first time ever I preferred the regular fries over sweet potato fries (wouldn't recommend them) everything else was delicious.

Our first time ordering from here. Wow!! The burgers and onion rings were absolutely amazing! The fresh, local meat made their burgers way above and beyond a normal good burger. We ordered 2 kinds of desserts - both were beautiful and delicious. Can't wait to eat here again! Great food! Great customer service! Also, my son is a very picky eater but he loved the kid's grilled cheese and fries.
