Tip’s Ribs-BBQ and Catering

Hands down the best ribs on the East Coast. Tender, wood smoke flavor, although various delicious sauces offered, I eat a rack naked with nothing on them..they are just that good! Mac and cheese is everything as well. Smoked fried chicken wings are unbelievable. Fried fish and bbq is amazing. This is true southern soul food at its best. My commute with fellow motorcycle riders is 1 hr and 15 minutes down route 460 and worth every moment. We always leave with saddlebags full of food to take home.

Talked with the owner and he told me to write a review so I am. Off the beaten path but what a Gem. The bbq and chicken were amazing. And the sauces add that perfect compliment. Really recommend checking it out. Highly rated for a reason

Stopped by this place today and all I can say is... I've found the best BBQ in Virginia. I pride myself on being a foodie and Tip's did not disappoint. The owner met us outside and began plying us with samples of everything.

He, his wife and staff are very warm and friendly. I wanted to order everything on the menu (seriously) but ended up saving it for my next visit.

I ordered the ribs, mac and collards and didn't even make it out of the parking lot. Yep, it is that good! The BBQ sauce is on point too. Call before you head down but when they are open be prepared for amazing BBQ.

Visited for lunch today with my partner. We ordered ahead and the food was ready. So can't complain about that. Should have been a quick trip but we became memorized with the hospitality and wonderful conversation from the owner and his wife while the intoxicating scent of his smoker filled the air. Both my partner and I ordered the ribs and the BBQ. Both were amazing and none which made it home to the wives ( which the owner suggested might happen). If you are in the area do yourself the favor of stopping and filling you stomach and your soul. Places like this don't after come around and I pray they open one in Newport News so that I can eat there daily.

Passed by this place many times, always wanted to check it out, so glad I finally did!!!! Absolutely some of the best food and nicest people you will find in the area!! Everything is SO good. This is now one of our favorite spots. I rarely ever write reviews, but this one definitely deserves my time! Once you try it, you will know why they are the highest rated BBQ place in the area on Google!

If you have not been to Tip's Ribs-BBQ you are missing out. The food is fantastic. We are Oklahoma natives and smoked meat is what we do. Tip's has been the best smokes meat that we have had this side of Oklahoma. Everything was delicious. From the ribs to the brisket, to the chicken and sausage links....FANTASTIC! All of the sides were flavorful and down right reminded us of true home cooking!!! Last but not least the sauces are great as well and are there if you like. Make time to stop by and get some of the best smoked...real smoked and seasoned Q that you will find anywhere.

I finally got to try Tip’s! It was well worth the wait! The ribs are delicious, slow cooked and tender. I ordered the mac and cheese, collards, and potato salad for sides and they were excellent. The homemade sauces he has for the ribs are unlike any I’ve tasted before! I got the sweet sauce and the spicy mustard and both were scrumptious! I’ll be putting Tip’s into my rotation of weekend restaurants that I frequent, for sure!

Honestly, I don't normally write reviews, but this place made our trip home! The owner makes his food with LOVE! You will never have BBQ the same EVER again. Everyone was so kind to my husband and I! I was getting so depressed with our vacation coming to an end and this place just cheered me up and was delicious! We couldn't have picked a better place to stop, honestly! The owner even came out after our order to make sure we had everything we needed. His sauces are BOSS! Totally never had anything like his food and the experience was with some of the coolest people I ever met!!!! You guys are AWESOME!

First time, writing a review and wroth writing. This was my very first time eating there. I noticed restaurant when VSU had their homecoming.
The smoke fried chicken wings had that wow factor and smoke chicken quarter had tender taste, not like most BBQ spots over cook and dried out. My wife enjoyed smoke fried ribs and the sauce had a combination of sweet and spicy combination that didn't overpower each other. I can say, Tips is my family new home.

Excellent! In Petersburg for the weekend from NJ and SC. Just happened to pass by here Saturday, and we decided check it out. Food was so good we had to go back for more on Sunday before leaving town! Ribs and wings were my fave! Great friendly service too! I definitely want to go back when I'm in the area again. Best part of the weekend!

Omg. This place is like going to a family cookout. The Mac and cheese is like your mommas recipe, the collards didn't even need hot sauce added, the meat falls off the ribs, the brisket just falls apart, and the BBQ is done to perfection. I'll be coming back weekly!!

This is the best barbecue around. Authentic Carolina style. Owners are wonderful, gave me samples before I even ordered. I’ll be back again soon!

I went and had bbq chicken, brisket and Mac n cheese. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. Brisket and chicken were cooked to perfection and the sauces should be sold in stores. Classic Mac ncheese. Glad to help honor momma tip, Support black businesses!

Got the bbq tray with green beans and Mac and cheese. Really good food. The sauce was good but didn’t really use it cause the bbq was so good. Friendly people too. I’d recommend checking it out!

Oh my first time was this weekend got the ribs bake beans and mac and cheese the ribs wasso soft and flavor the sides was good overall the food was delicious will be going back.

Love it. The sauces are amazing. I love the Vinegar base sauce. NC style ribs and pulled pork. The sides are done right too!
