Roast

A friend and I had lunch at Roast yesterday. I can honestly say it was one of the best lunches I have ever had anywhere in Sarasota. Between the two of us, we had pretty much flawless eating. Their portions are generous, The service is very pleasant, although it can be just a tad slow if you are not prepared for it. Their Parmesan truffle fries are magnificent. Their arugula salad with Sherry dressing and fresh Parmesan doesn't sound like it would be much but it is very special. Perhaps the quality of the sherry vinegar? I had the grouper sliders (two per order) served on small brioche buns with aïoli and a tomato slice and leaf lettuce. I don't know how the chef managed to cook the fish so exquisitely, but the combination of flavors and textures was just perfect. My friend, who is on a very restricted diet, had a lovely chicken breast over the same arugula salad that I had. She asked for it without oil and she got it and was very pleased with it. They have sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream that has dark chocolate bits in it. For dessert, this is so habit-forming, it should be illegal. Get there early because parking can be a problem. Go to this restaurant! You won't be sorry!

The building has such sweet charm and is full of history. Chef does an amazing job with an eclectic menu that fosters flavors from all over Europe and America.
The beet salad is outstanding and so is the Grouper. An underrated gem in downtown SRQ.

Delicious dinner in such a pretty garden. Very different menu and we loved it. Love the English desserts - especially the sticky toffee pudding!

Muy buenas atenciones y muy buen menu

The food was fine, but the chef was very snotty. Food was very late coming out of the kitchen. Really no excuse for this as only a few people were in the restaurant.
Later we ordered cappuccinos and they were stone cold.
