Jan's River Restaurant

One of the best fish spots in the area! Hot northwestern Louisiana Southern fried catfish!!! The coleslaw was fresh and the beans soup was spiced to perfection! Must try this place if you are in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

Or waiter, JC, was awesome. Very attentive and pleasant attitude even though we were one of the last parties that night. The catfish was hot and flaky. Had a good fresh—but not fishy—taste. Fried shrimp were lump and cooked just right. We will definitely be eating here again!

I found this restaurant by accident approximately a month or so ago while looking for something on Google maps. I decided to come and try the restaurant out. The food was great, food was hot and the service was fast. Your sides were great, a little different from my experiences in the past with other fish restaurants. (I usually go to Mississippi to a huge fish house named Berry's Seafood owned by one of my friends from my school or I drive to Manchac, LA to Middendorf's. These 2 places are worth the drive, however) The service here was absolutely exceptional. Karen, (definitely not one of the bad ones, LOL) was the best waitress I've encountered in years. She was so welcoming and inviting and really seemed like an actual caring waitress. She was like a breath of fresh air. She should be a treasured employee for this establishment. I hope they definitely take care of her here and never take her for granted. Waitresses like her are the face of your business for restaurants like this and they interact the most with your customers. Take care of her and I will be back.

Driving up to Jan's we thought we were in the wrong place but we saw people walking in so we went in as well. The best decision ever. After being greeted they layer out what we could only call a typical Southern table. We got hush puppies, cold slaw, green tomato relish, an onion slice, lemon slices, bean soup and tartar sauce. All were delicious. For our meals we ordered the 16oz marinaded ribeye steak and a baked potato and the grilled catfish and fries. So much food and so good. Even had enough for dinner the next night. Such amazingly great food!! We also appreciated the great service we received from the staff.

Great food ... and Chevy our waitress was amazing. We had a large party, she was extremely professional and attentive to our needs.

This locally family owned restaurant has changed a thing in years and that is perfection. The Hostesses are sociable, friendly and great multitaskers. The servers are well seasoned and have worked for this business for a long time which shows in their ability to please and serve all patrons whether they are regulars or new customers. The food is always fresh,hot, delicious and plentiful. You are not leaving hungry or upset. The price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served to you. Delicious is my one word for Jan's. Thank you to this business for always being so homie and welcoming. Keep it up and please don't change a thing.

This was the first time ordering from here. im always looking for good ol' seafood. The plates are a great bang for the buck. We ordered to go.i am kinda glad i did because they were very busy. The food was great! I will be back.

I was craving for Catfish. The restaurant was very Crowded. The beans are good. Catfish was hot and the Service was good.

Hands down the best executed fried pickles I’ve ever eaten! They were crispy and the ranch was on point! I little salty but I could handle it. Fish reminded of my childhood. And I loved it.

Glad we finally decided to try out Jan's. We have been by and they always seem covered up. We tried them out last night and found out why. The first clue was all the folks leaving with go boxes and orders to go we saw when we arrived. The catfish was awesome and the sides were too. Tomato relish, cole slaw, hush puppies and fries rounded out the meal. If you leave hungry, it's your fault. I should have ordered a smaller meal, but it was oh, so good! Give them a try. We'll be back.

Jan's is hard to beat, Other catfish restaurants are occasionally good, Jans is consistently excellent.

Great place! We stopped here on our way from Dallas to Jackson. Wasn't really sure what to expect because it looked to be in the middle of nowhere, but the staff were friendly and the food was good.
