As an Office Manager of a small business, I barely have enough time to look at finances, much less worry about taxes. Langdon & Company has been a wonderful partner for our business and me personally. I have been working with Tony and Sheila and Russell for almost 6 months and could not be happier with their professionalism, knowledge, and follow through. I did have one invoice that seemed high, and when I called to ask about it, it was found to be incorrect and immediately changed. Our business has been in a state of growth and restructuring, and Tony's legal background has been invaluable to us as we work to move forward. I would highly recommend them for all of your financial needs!

My review is going to be long because I want to give a thorough, honest explanation of my experience with Langdon and Company. I will share the good & the bad because although, overall, I am not satisfied, I do have positives I'd like to share.

A little background: I started using Langdon in July 2018 & they filed business & personal taxes for us for 2018 & 2019. They also helped us with tax planning for our small business.

I'll go ahead & start with the positives:

- Tony was very creative in helping us maximize tax breaks, without doing anything shady. I always told him that I wanted to get as close to the line as possible but that I would never want to cross over the line & he was good about that.

- Tony met with us several times per year to help us determine how much in taxes we would be owing and we never had a time where we were surprised come March 15th and April 15th.

- Tony was very friendly & open to meeting & discussing our tax situation anytime I needed.

Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives, hence my 2 star review:

- The biggest take-a-way that I can say is that overall, communication lacks beyond anything I have ever encountered with another business professional. After almost a year of dealing with MANY issues, I finally sent Tony a VERY long email detailing 8 separate times I communicated with them & never received any correspondence back. I honestly felt like if I sent an email, I would absolutely have to followup on that email, again & again, in order to ensure I received a response.

- There were times when I could email or even call, only to be told that Tony was in a meeting & he would call me back. Or he would email me back offering to call me back the next day. Then, I still wouldn't hear back from him for several days. A couple of times, after his promise to call me, he would send me another email stating he was at a conference & would call me back after that. This was commonplace.

- If you hire Langdon to conduct an IRS or NC State Audit, be prepared to follow up.....a LOT!!! It took almost SIX MONTHS to get through our audit; which the auditor originally told us would only take a few weeks. I'm not saying it is all Langdon's fault but I definitely did not feel that they made us a priority in this situation. I emailed & called & followed up many, many times & just felt like I was being brushed off.

- Had a major situation where we were fined by NCDOR $1,000 & part of the reason we were fined is because Langdon told us that we completed everything we needed for year end W-2 filings when, in fact, we were missing the NC-3. I told them I had never done it before & was relying on their expertise & it ended up costing us $1,000. At first they didn't offer to pay any of it & then after I said something (more than once), they finally offered to pay half. There's a lot more detail that goes into this issue but I am just sharing the basics.

- We finally told them that we were going to terminate our relationship & look for another CPA & that's when I really felt like they could care less about us as a client. As a matter of fact, they advised us to make $245,000 in Q4 2019 deposits. YES, $245,000!!!!!!! I ended up paying $163,000 (because I tried my best to do my own calculation and that's what I came up with) and I'm glad I did because WE STILL OVERPAID!! By a LOT!!! Had I paid $245K, we would have overpaid by about $150K!!! How in the world they came up with those numbers is astonishing. I even questioned them & they came up with some ridiculous reason. Glad I figured it out myself.

- On 12/6/19, I emailed Robert Langdon, since he is the founding partner and shared our experiences with him & told him that we would be looking for a new CPA, something I WAS NOT looking forward to. He emailed me back 3 days later thanking me for sharing with him & that he would discuss with Tony & get back to me. He never did.

Overall, I would not recommend Langdon, at least not working with Tony...since that is mostly who my experience is with.

We had Tony for several years, received a bill that was extremely high and seemed overpriced for the value and service received. We moved our business to another firm. Langdon appears to have a requirement of meeting high billable hours on their clients - this is not noticed in the beginning, but once established, it seemed they billed for everything, all the time. We can not recommend them.

I wish I could’ve selected no star. Customer service is nonexistent. I had to take my business elsewhere.

Multiple phone calls and emails have gone unanswered. We have no idea if an extension was filed and can’t get anyone to give us any answers. Very unprofessional!
