Chief Motel

We pulled into Cherokee, NC tired on Sat. Oct 25, 2014 and all other places were booked. The lady that owns the place was friendly. She rented us a big room with 3 beds. Not only was it clean it saved us money instead of having to rent 2 rooms. My hubby, my mom and my uncle as well as I all stayed in one room and my mom got her own bed my uncle got his own bed and my hubby and I had the king. The room was very clean, she had an abundant amount of wash cloths and towels available in the room there was a long bench to put all our luggage. I felt very safe and it is quiet. This motel is and older one and it is not fancy but she had to have been something back in the day. I would recommend it to anyone. The owner cares about about her motel and it shows. She also has a refrigerator in the room.. There was two sit down tables as well as a long dresser. 4 chairs to sit on. This is one huge room and I enjoyed my stay.

Really great little motel. Needed a place for the night on our way back to MD from FL. Cherokee is half way and we love the casino. All rooms were sold out, but I came upon the Chief Motel. Called and they had a room - $83.05 tax included! Right across the street from the casino! It's the oldest motel on the reservation and dated, but super clean and the owner was awesome! Really nice and helpful. I enjoyed the 1950's feel. If you want a cheap, clean place to stay right by the casino, stay here! If you want fancy and new, stay somewhere else. We will be back!

Clean, comfortable, and quiet. A 5 min walk to the Casino. Just what I need. I do not go to a casino for a 5 star hotel experience, I go to gamble. I just need a clean room, cozy bed, and a hot shower every now and then. This place fits the bill and leaves me plenty of "bills" left over to use at the casino. I've never understood folks who pay hundreds of dollars per night for a room but then are tightwads at the tables. The owner is extremely friendly and is constantly working to improve her place. I've already made reservations for 2 more trips.

I stay here every chance i get Its Home away for Home Mrs Tammy ( Pink Panther ) is Awesome always going above and beyond to make us feel like family. This is not a fancy Motel , but you can be sure that you have a Royal Treatment .

This is our second time staying here and although outdated the rooms are cheap, clean, friendly staff and a short walk to casino. If your fancy dont stay here if your on a budget and want a decent place to stay this is the place for you.

The rooms are very cozy. Great location and price as well. The owners are very sweet and helped me. This is where I stay when I go to Cherokee.

We honestly wanted to leave the second we got here, but we stuck it out and it's not so bad. The rooms are extremely outdated, although after looking around a bit it does seem they are trying to update things. Our room smelled HORRIBLY like mildew when we walked in....like it had recently flooded or something. It made me curious why the lady told us three times that it was a no smoking room. Obviously it's a non-smoking room, that is what we wanted, but the smell was so bad that smoking probably would do it a favor!
Lots of questionable characters around. You can tell some of them are on drugs (go ahead guy, look out your curtain AGAIN), but they were quiet and nobody bothered us at all.
The lady at the front desk was nice, all smiles the whole time we were talking to her! I feel like she puts a lot of effort into this building for a little return.
Overall it's ok if you have low standards and aren't picky about anything. It is a very short walk to the casino (less than 5 min to front entrance) and it's a clean place to lay your head.
