West Ashley True Value

This is a genuine neighborhood hardware store that reminds me of the True Value my father/family owned for generations in Boston, PA. 😊 I came in needing to cut off a decorative metal piece from a piece of clothing. The staff was more than willing to help find a tool in their own tool box to help me out. I’m hoping this review is accepted as a form of payment since they didn’t want to charge me anything. Highly recommend! Thank you!!

We love this True Value! My husband and I came in looking for some gutter guard friendly hooks to hang Christmas lights. We showed a picture of something we were looking at on Amazon, with hopes to purchase something similar in store. They didn’t have the particular style of hook but their employee Kaleb had the creative idea to use landscape staples to bend into the hooks we needed. It worked perfectly!!

This place is my favorite hardware store by Long shot. Have everything to paint thinner to cut keys to conduit to everything in your garden up to the attic. Staff here is super knowledgeable but in my opinion Autumn goes above and beyond every single time

This place is really outstanding. Shelves were stocked and well organized, and they had everything I needed. But what really makes the visit is the incredible service! I needed a couple nuts for a bike tire and a couple screws, and despite those only being maybe $2 total, the associate spent time with me finding just the right fits, and he couldn't have been nicer about it. The checkout person was equally as friendly. I will make a point to go back here for all of my hardware needs!

This place is fantastic! Extremely efficient with getting people what they’re looking for and back to tackling what they are fixing. They always exceed my expectations.

As a new customer my experience at this hardware was first rate and exceptional. Waylon’s technical knowledge and expertise was spot-on assisting me with selecting quality adapters, disconnect coupling, and gas hose for final connection to my LP gas grill. This West Ashley store has a much more comprehensive inventory of hardware items than any other store I have been to in Charleston. This store is my first choice as a hardware solution provider. One can expect a high degree of customer service, knowledge, and hardware products at this store.

I love this hardware store. Everyone is friendly and helpful. No matter what kind of squirrelly question I have, including how to catch a squirrel in my attic, they have the answer. I appreciate that they are a locally owned business.

Needed some glass panes cut to replace broken window panes, and the staff was very helpful and cut all the measurements for my glass panes perfectly. All employees I spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable.

West Ashley True Value is one of the best hardware stores around. Not only do they stock a full line of SAE and Metric fasteners (in zinc [multiple grades] and stainless), but their selection of other hardware, paint, tools, and consumables is top notch. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and Waylon has never once hesitated to special order if they didn't have what I was looking for. L's and HD don't hold a candle to this place!

I came in once to grab something I have no idea how to use, what brand to purchase or even if I’m looking for the right thing. I went in and was greeted immediately by the cashier. I went to my aisle, and the nicest and most patient gentleman helped me figure out the best product and brand to use for the specific thing I wanted to do. His suggestions were based on experience, and they didn’t at all feel like endorsements for the highest-priced brand. Honestly felt very comfortable to ask questions, and I felt like I would receive honest and genuine recommendations. While the inventory is a little low, this was not a problem. It is also understandable with the pandemic bringing with it a lot of obstacles in obtaining supplies. I would not hesitate to come back for home improvement needs! Very much highly recommend this store! I had such a positive experience, especially for something that I was already feeling lost and a little stressed about! Thank you.

I have shopped here since store opened a few years back. Staff are pleasant and try to be helpful. The owner Waylon is usually on the premises and has answered just about any question I have or can make a good suggestion on solving a problem. Generally they seem to have just about anything I am looking for. They mixed a paint color matching my wall better than Sherwin Williams did. True it does not have the inventory of a Lowe's but it is alot easier to shop in and not so overwhelming. It reminds me of the kind of well established local hardware store found in smaller towns with friendly and personal service.

This is a great local hardware store. They always seem to have what I am looking for and the staff is knowledgeable. Much better shopping experience than the large orange and blue colored stores.

They cut a spare car key for me in around 5 minutes for about 4 bucks. Lowes nor Depot weren't able to so it needed to be done by hand & it was just as inexpensive. Workers were super nice & quick.

Truly helpful, professional and friendly staff. Great selection! Shop small business and stay out of those big box stores that don't help our community!
