Awesome experience! We loved it so much we came back a month later, and we have another booking before the summer ends. 3 times in 1 summer (Section 3 & 4) - because it’s just an amazing family friendly & wilderness packed adventure. Bring a waterproof phone lanyard if you want to take your own photos- but they have pro photos option- which are always great. The lunch is always phenomenal - we devour it every time. Our guide was full of information & we love a good history lesson or funny story. We got split into two groups of 3 per raft on one of the trips. The other trip we fit 4 on a raft. So if your group is bigger than 3 or 4 - be prepared to enjoy it near one another (it’s still fun!) lastly, if you’re debating between NOC or another rafting company- go with NOC we have never had a bad experience.

Tip: Section 3 is family friendly and great for starting out! Fun water activities along the way. Kids had a lot of fun!
Section 4 is more advanced, definitely for dare devils and thrill seekers. If you know what you like when it comes to adventures, jumping off rocks, walking through the falls & climbing rocks- just go for this one right off the bat. You won’t regret it.

by far the best outfitters in the mountains. I have now utilize them in three different areas! chatuga was my favorite run, but the Gatlinburg pigeon was exciting to especially considering the amount of rain we had. I would highly recommend NOC to anyone and everyone who wants to go whitewater rafting in the southeast. they are unparalleled

NOC took my group out on the Chatooga and we had a blast! Great guides and good fun! We had about 20 so we split into 4 boats. Paul led our trip, but Lucas was our guide. We felt safe and encouraged to tackle every obstacle! The humor of the guides was a great addition too!

Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), located in Long Creek, South Carolina, was an absolute pleasure. Our guide. Paula, was amazing. She knew the river and coached our team well. She filled us in in with many facts about the river, as well l as history of the area. The trip was fun and adventurous. We really enjoyed the entire experience. Highly recommended +

My family, including 4 kids ages 9-14 just went on the 4-5 hour rafting trip on the Chattooga. I will admit I was very nervous having seen some of the rapids from hiking near the Chattooga before. Our guide, Liam, was awesome and very knowledgeable about the River. We had a blast, navigating the rapids, swimming and eating an awesome lunch. Would definitely recommend rafting with the NOC. We’ve also done the Nantahala if you’re looking for a step down from the Chattooga.

The NOC Chattooga team was amazing! We were lucky enough to be in the guide lead boat with Kyle and he not only made my family feel comfortable but had us laughing all day! Plus the lunch was amazing. The whole team on the Chattooga was on point, they were all very professional and you could tell were all about the safety of the clients. It was always a team effort. Well done team, we can't wait to come back soon! #NOCrocks #chattoogariver

Amazing experience on the Chatooga with the NOC staff. The staff does a great job of mixing adventure, safety and also set up a shore lunch for you. We loved every bit of the trip down the river! Shout out to our guide Robert! Thank you so much!

I cannot recommend enough! We loved every minute (even when I was thrown out the raft)!!! You also get to swim, they feed you lunch, and we played troll Bridge. Every guide was nice and informative. We especially enjoyed Tiffany, Mike, and Danny who saved my daughter from going overboard! I wish we lived closer because we would go again and again!

This was the most unique rafting experience. On section IV, there are a few side excursions like visiting a waterfall and swimming holes. That was awesome. This trip isn't for beginners and less active people.
We had a phenomenal day. Also, lunch was solid. It was build your own sandwich and good quality food. The guides were awesome and safety was the top priority on and off the river. I highly recommend rafting with NOC and going down the Chatooga.

We had an amazing time doing the Raft & Rail excursion in Bryson City! The rafting was our favorite part, though! Our guide Dakota was amazing, and made the trip down the river so much fun, and of course as safe as possible. We're already planning our next trip!

Sean was a great trip leader. He communicated to our boat everything we needed to know so well. He matched our boats humor and it made a fantastic trip. The whole team today did a great job!

Wonderful trip down the Chattooga river. Our guide was great. She did a great job cos hing us and preparing us for each rapid. Loved the lunch provided half way through the trip off the river. Lived the different activities we did along the way. The water was sooo refreshing in the July heat. Just an awesome experience. Higly recommend the effort!

We went here with my extended family, and we had a blast. Our guide was Ben and he was very kind and told us all about the river as well as himself. I loved how there were many stops where we could eat lunch as well as fun stops where we could play fun games such as Troll Bridge where we had to run across the rafts upside down and try to get to the other side before we fall off.

The lunch was exceptional and everything was very well organized. During the lunch stop we could also ride the current!

As we approached the main waterfall (Class IV rapids) we were told what to do so we would not fall off. While everyone in our raft was scared, Ben reassured us that we would be okay. The waterfall was a blast and the picture that was taken looked awesome!

On many of the stops, we could ride even more currents, but this time, they were faster and even more fun than the ones we went on during lunch. We continued our way down the river and on some parts, we were able to calmly view the nature surrounding us.

As we approached the end, a storm was coming our way (Hurricane Elsa), but we were able to finish the rafting just as it began. We walked up to where the rafting began and the bus took us back where we could change and look at the gift shop.

This place was a blast to go to and I would definitely go here again! Thank you NOC for a great day on the Chattooga River!

We had the BEST day on section III of the river with NOC . Our guide Owen was AMAZING! The sweetest, nicest person, and so knowledgeable about the area. Our boys 13 and 16 had a blast jumping into the rapids and the Bull Sluice was a highlight!! We will definitely be back to do section IV. Beautiful part of the world, our experience was incredible. THANK YOU NOC and Owen!

Gracie was a great guide! The river was a good experience for our first rafting adventure. Our 10 and 13 year old kids loved it. The water is definitely cold, so be prepared for that!

NOC provided us with a great rafting experience!

A very special shoutout to our raft guide Sean for such a fun day out on the Chattooga. He made sure to instill confidence within us by effectively conveying his expertise, and providing clear and thoughtful directions on how to navigate upcoming rapids, and avoid any potential hazards. Aside from his professionalism Sean offered very engaging and fun conversation, and made our trip one to remember. Thanks again Sean!

We went rafting for my husband’s birthday and had a BLAST! Brett was our guide. He was super experienced and filled us in on history, facts, etc of the river throughout the day. We can’t recommend him enough! All of the guides were on top of safety precautions as well as making sure everyone was having a great time. We have been rafting multiple times but this particular trip was probably our best. The NOC staff plus the river itself were amazing!!! This is a must do!
