Second State Coffee

Great experience! Met my brother for a cup of coffee and Josh helped us pick the perfect drinks and waffle. Great atmosphere, great coffee and breakfast items but the great interactions with Josh made the trip. I love happy employees who truly love what they do and this is the vibe we got from Josh. And definitely go with his recommendations, perfect!

Very cute and cozy coffee shop. I frequent the one in West Ashley where the baristas make excellent cups of coffees and have great seasonal drinks. So far I loved the fall sweet potatoe latte and now the winter special of peppermint mocha. Their coffee art is on point!

Great coffee and if you're looking for gluten free waffles this is the place! Amazing!

We love this coffee shop! I've been here plenty to have their fantastic coffee, but we just tried their blueberry, lemon waffles and oh my goodness was it delicious! The service is also top notch, our barista having a brief conversation with my wife and I, and later remembering my name. Though a small gesture, it is something that adds some genuineness to what they're doing. Can't recommend them enough!

I've tried out multiple coffee shops in the area and none have even come close to the level of service offered at this location. I wish I could leave individual 5* reviews for each member of the staff!

Second state coffee was a great find during our short stay here in SC. My wife had a Chai latte and a blueberry waffle and had a regular latte. The drinks were phenomenal and the waffle was cooked to perfection. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's a 100% must trying these waffles. The person helping us at the front was very helpful as well. My only complaint (which I don't think can be helped) is that it was incredibly loud when they made their drinks. The clinging of the utensils hit a decibel level that pierced the ears, more than other coffee shops I've been to. We ended up doing an outdoor seating which helped. I don't think that deserves a dropped star because everything else was great.

Stopped in for coffee one morning while visiting the area and HAD to try the waffles! The lemon, blueberry were really good. The brewed coffee was excellent as well!

The coffee here is excellent, they actually serve two different types of espresso which is pretty rare but much appreciated, and yes they're very good. Broom Wagon also has a decent sized menu with waffles and toast so you can get an actual meal here too. The atmosphere inside is really nice and they have shaded outdoor seating as well. The baristas are also very friendly and and efficient at what they do.

A clean, simple and methodical space. Great vibes. Delicious coffee the food looked and smelled delicious (didn't get anything) the staff and baristas are super knowledgeable about their coffees well also being very down-to-earth and approachable. Friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great place to get quality specialty coffee! Plenty of seating inside and a few table outside too.

I stopped in for a morning coffee and had a seasonal latte in ice and added a blueberry scone. Best choice for my Wednesday morning! The scone was a delight, so fresh and delicious. The latte was excellent and a great way to end summer. I was so thankful you still had your summer seasonal syrup on menu, extremely refreshing and tasty. So much so I had to get a second iced latte for the road.

The atmosphere gives off so much positive energy I sat down and did some morning routine work.

Love this local shop and when it’s on my morning route I will be back.

Can’t wait to order a waffle

This was our first time trying this place out. It's nice to know that their waffles are not only gluten free but the batter is homemade. If you like good and strong coffee, this is where you want to come. Thanks for the great service. We will be back.

DAMN this is good espresso!!!! I can NOT complain. The service with a smile is a huge bonus. The staff is super sweet. I'll definitely be back! :)~

This place is fantastic. Food and beverage are delicious and artful and it is a comfy place to hang out and meet up with others. Also GREATLY appreciate the GF options. My absolute favorite coffee place in the area, and easy to get in and out of.

The coffee was really good. I had a waffle with prosciutto and my partner had a waffle with peanut butter and bananas - both were really good. They have tables outside. Bathroom was very clean.

Second State's employees refuse to be anything but attentive and pleasant, their coffee is solid, and they're open early enough for me to visit before work. That's worth 5 stars to me.

I've been here several times and always have great service. My latte is always perfect. No burnt espresso. Velvety steamed milk. Definitely recommend.

I tried Second State coffee when visiting Charleston about a year ago and ever since I came back home I have been ordering 4 bags a month of their Heavy Weight Coffee. The most perfectly balanced, smooth, coffee I have tried and would highly recommend everyone to try this place. I compare most coffee now to Second State. They set the bar for my expectations of great coffee.

One of my favorite coffee places in Charleston. My husband and I get a bag each of their bagged coffee every week as a ritual. Every Friday we have a Second State date with coffees and a muffin. Such a nice chill environment, and the coffee is the best in Charleston -- definitely the best roaster in town.
