The oldest liquor store in Charleston.

Staff: The kind gentleman at the counter was more than helpful. He told about the history of the building and talked about the Game of Thrones collection that was there. Really an amazing collection.

Building:The building was small. But just the old nature of it made it cool to be in.

Liquor. A little higher price than I am used to but the experience was worth the extra money.

Parking: Parking can be difficult to find. I recommend a paid parking garage.

Star rating: 5 stars because of the selection and the history.

I have no problem coming back here every chance I get.

Super. Couldn't go into the old section (arcane state laws 🙄) but the newer beer section is excellent and based on local craft selections (i.e. exactly what I'm looking for when traveling). More expansion planned with open taps coming, this place is super cool right in historic Charleston!

Excellent service as they hire Tour Guides- not clerks. Quaint space so don't expect thousands of options. But it is well-curated and certainly part of Charleston's history. Stop by and visit!

You can get drinks to go or stay and enjoy at one of the seating areas inside or out. They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff and a good selection of local whiskeys and bourbons. I was impressed with the knowledge of the history of the building as well as the liquor sold.

Stopped in to see this old Tavern! Right now one side is liquor store and other is beer/wine. We understand that they will be serving in the Tavern soon. Can’t wait to go back to have a drink there! They were very kind and offered names of restaurants off the beaten path that the locals love!

Very cute little shop. Visit the oldest liquor store in the US to complete the historical experience of the great town of Charleston. A good selection of local liquors. Also the employee was amazing. He was super friendly and very knowledgeable about all products. He also acknowledged every customer that walked in.

Didn't actually buy anything here but I wandered in close to closing time and had a nice interaction with the guy working here who gave me some recommendations for nearby bars.

Cool beer & liquor shop right near the waterfront. I think it's actually the oldest liquor store in America! They have a few whales in there.. Of course, whales can be pricey. Still, definitely worth a visit. The friendly proprietor has expansion plans in mind too. Good luck!

What a lovely place and lovely people! We were able to enjoy a tasting and purchased a bottle. Went back the next day amd purchased a different kind. We were told it is the oldest liquor store in the country. Pretty cool!

Cute quaint liquor store. They have good selection of tequila, pay attention. I asked for local specialities, and was recommended quite a few choices. I took home SC Reaper vodka, and it was good.

Highly recommend you stop by The Tavern, whether you drink or not. Very knowledgeable staff, good tour advice from them too. They say it’s the oldest wine & spirits tavern in the Nation. George Washington had drinks here.

Very cool place with a lot of history. Came on a Sunday so didn’t get to see the liquor store, but they offer a very wide variety of craft beers and wine. Great atmosphere with friendly workers. We were about to leave and the man at the front stopped what he was doing to give us a tour of the tunnels underneath the building. Very cool experience that I will not forget!

I've seen some of the reviews were rough but I had nothing but a good experience at a place with history and local flavor. If you want generic then order online.

The liquor store attendant was friendly and welcoming recommended me to go to tavern. The tavern was clean and nice make sure to check out the bathroom. The blue sour was delicious and didn't taste like beer.

This place is amazing! Located in the historic district and a must stop if you are strolling around historic Charleston. Definitely has an old Charleston feel and a Great selection and knowledgeable staff. The elderly gentlemen behind the counter can talk to you about rare bourbon and tequila or recommend a nice wine for your dinner party. I visit pretty frequently and will be back soon. Have frequent tastings as well.

Hell yeah! History and booze, my two favorite things!

Update for visit on 5/2022 - they've now extended their services where next door the have a little beer tasting bar serving up all kinds of good different craft beers. The guy working the bar was very knowledgeable in what to offer based off of the tastes I told him I enjoy and was fun to talk to!

The liquor store on the corner is great to get various different spirts, the store next door that sells beer and wine is amazing. The best selections of local craft beer and wine that you can drink and taste inside and look at the historical building, then leave with a custom 6 pack of your favorite beers.

Stopped in because we needed a water. Two glasses of wine later and we didn't want to leave. Small space but very unique with an extensive wine selection. Molly was super helpful and a joy to meet.
